Lost Without Lists

DesignerLogo I'm happy to be welcoming back Fayette to The Digi Files this month!  Fayette is a super talented artist that always includes lots of her own hand-drawn doodles in each kit she creates!  Her little people and animals that she draws always bring a smile to my face and sometimes make me giggle! Our team really enjoyed scrappping with Fayette's contribution this month and created some stunning layouts! Let’s take a closer look at "Lost Without Lists" that is included in The Digi Files this month:

This is ONE of SEVEN collections you get when you become a member of The Digi Game this month. You also get an interactive Playbook (in PDF and iBooks formats) that has lots of ideas for using the supplies including techniques, tips, and tricks! All of that, including access to exclusive collaborations every four months you are a member, for only $7.50 total per month! Here are some layouts created using Fayette Designs' contribution:

My hubby, Kees, a wonderful Dutch guy, and I are now empty-nesters. We have three grown kids and six amazing grandkids that we love spending time with. They all live within an hour of our home, so we get together often. They are definitely the center of our lives! The last one to leave our home was my dad, after living with us for eight years. He is now living in a care center, and we love seeing him each week. We love to travel, and have had some amazing trips to Europe, Canada and around the US. I also got to travel to Australia and China with the paper scrapbooking companies I worked with! I enjoy gardening, reading and riding my cute lime green & bright blue cruiser bike, but I openly admit that I'm a work-a-holic. I'd rather be designing than watching TV any day!

layout This is a layout I created about my parents. My mom passed away in 1992 at the age of 58 (just a month before I was published the first time). My dad is still living & doing well, although he has Parkinson's Disease & Macular Degeneration (which means he's basically blind). He lived with us for eight years, but has now moved into a care center. My memories of them are really important. This is one of my favorite pics of cute, and a constant reminder of how much they loved each other. It's important to me to keep the memories alive of my wonderful parents and what an impact they've had on my life.

started My parents always encouraged me to do artistic things, like paint our big windows for the holidays, make ceramics, etc. So, art has always been a big part of my life. I actually started designing in the tole painting industry in *dare I say it* 1992 *gulp* I've been designing for a LONG time. I designed over 50 books of original wooden tole painted designs. The president of Provo Craft saw the craft industry moving toward scrapbooking, so he invited several of the designers to create a line of scrapbooking products. I put out my first line of papers and stickers in 1998! Yikes, that's a LONG time ago, and a LOT of drawing! Things have changed a lot since then....all of my designs were hand painted when I first started. Now, everything is done on the computer! My design business has grown from there. I have designed for several paper companies in the scrapbooking industry, and still regularly design paper products. I jumped into the digi world several years ago, after having done paper scrapping for several years. I have also designed a line of stamps, cross-stitch patterns, porcelain figurines and several other gift items. I also designed product for a craft magazine in the UK, and scrapbooking kits for the Canadian equivalent of QVC. Most recently, I began designing book covers for an online publisher, Henery Press. I also took the jump into the digi shop owner pool! I purchased the Pickleberrypop Website almost two years ago, and have loved working with our very diverse, and amazingly talented designers. I feel so lucky and blessed to make a living doing something that I love so much.

inspired I'm always inspired by color - that's probably one of the first things you'll notice about my designs...I LOVE COLOR! Sometimes I'll see something on a billboard or in a magazine that triggers the creative juices...I LOVE when that happens. I keep a small sketchpad in my purse, just for those times.

tools Computer: I use a PC with a quadcore AMD CPU, 32 GB of RAM & a 250 GB SSD. I have an 8 TB external RAID drive for storage. I use Windows 7 (I had Windows 8, but ummm....had a few issues with it *sigh*) I use dual 24" monitors (Illustrator on one, Photoshop on the other when I'm designing) and always have my Intuous 3 Tablet within reach. Program: I use Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop for almost all of my designing. I do a lot of sketching when I'm not at my comp, so I'll scan those sketches or use my tablet to duplicate them digitally. Camera: I have a Canon Rebel XT, along with a couple of smaller digi cameras. And, like most of us, I use the camera on my phone quite a bit grandkids LOVE taking pics with my phone....which provides me with a lot of entertainment :) Anything Else: I use a Wacom Intuous 3 tablet (6x8)...and LOVE it! I find that this size suits me perfectly! tipstricks My favorite tip would be to get to know your tablet! I know a lot of people own tablets, but don't use them much because they're a bit intimidating! I love using my tablet to draw the little characters that you see in my kits. I have to admit that years ago when I was first learning to use Illustrator & trying to figure out how to orient my tablet to the program, it was HARD...but it's definitely worth it if you stick with it! It's a fun way to incorporate your own style into your projects/designs.

favorite It's really hard to pick a favorite. My favorite kit is usually the one I'm working on. But, if I had to pick one that I really loved creating, it would have to be my "You Rock My World" Collection. I love drawing silly creatures & that explains why I love this set. I had more fun creating the cave people, cave kids & dinos in this kit than I can even tell you.

popular My Painting Rainbows collection has been really popular with my customers. It is such a colorful, happy set of designs & can be used for almost any theme. It has a TON of fun designs in it. I chose the theme for this kit before I chose the colors - I had been thinking about doing a rainbow kit for a long the colors just kind of came naturally when I got started. Scrappers have really love variety of flowers & other elements in this's a great collection for people who love to cluster!
