Kaye Winiecki: Don't Do Enough

DesignersStudio

It's been a long time since Kaye Winiecki joined us in The Digi Files and we are thrilled to have her here this month! I just love Kaye's use of strong, bright colors! Her little, whimsical felt pieces, paper bits, and doodling are easily recognizable and so fun to scrap with. Our team really enjoyed working with her contribution and if you are ready to break out of the winter blues, you will love it too!  Let’s take a closer look at "Ordinarily Special and A Little Edgy Vol. 2" that is included in The Digi Files this month:

Those 4 keep me pretty busy most of the time but I also work from home 2 days a week doing design work for a local business and then there is my scrapbook designing. Things I enjoy but don't do enough of include reading, scrapping, playing Super Mario Bros on the Wii, genealogy and drawing.

layout This one is an oldie but still a goodie! I originally created this page for a magazine publication and it is still one of my favourites. This was one of the first pages that I had done without using a photo, it was also one of the first that I had done that wasn't directly about one of my children. So there are a few firsts involved in this page and then there is also the subject of it. I love that is shows what my life was like at this particular time, which I think will be great to look back on.

started When my son was born, I purchased some paper scrapping supplies but never used them. The thought of having to cut everything out, glue etc just did not appeal to me as I knew I would notice the imperfections and would want to change things. Then a friend showed me a basic digital scrapbooking program that she had purchased and I was hooked, I needed to know more. I already had photoshop due to my line of work but had never even thought to use it for scrapbooking. So I started digital scrapping and then progressed into designing from there.

inspired Inspiration comes from many different places for me. It could be what my kids are doing at the time, music, colours, homewares, or conversations, just to name a few places.

tools Computer: I have a pc running Windows7, 4Gb RAM, 2.33GHz processor and a 21 inch monitor. Program: Photoshop & Illustrator (CS6) Camera: Canon 450D Anything Else: Wacom Graphire 4 tablet, Epson Perfection V200 scanner, Epson Artisan 730 printer and good old fashioned art supplies

tipstricks Use the layer blending modes in photoshop to combine 2 or more papers together to create a paper that suits your page better. I tend to use white/light coloured background papers on my scrapbook pages, so if I combine a light coloured paper with a patterned paper using layer blending modes, I can add a little bit of interest to that plain coloured paper.

favorite What I love the most about this element pack is its versatility. You can use a lot of the pieces in one layout or you can use just a few. I also love the randomness of the elements, there is no theme so it can be used on many different types of pages. I also love the colours in this pack too.

DesFav popular The Never Ending minikit that I originally created for the Digi Files a couple of years ago has turned out to be quite a popular product. I think most of us can relate to the theme of this one. What I love about it, is that people can scrap about a day-to-day thing that they may not have considered scrapping about before.
