Slightly Imperfect

We all struggle with perfection, or rather, we struggle with our imperfection. Dawn Inskip, in her kit Slightly Imperfect, does an amazing job capturing this all-to-common experience. I love her color choices of white and cool greys, allowing us to contemplate and express the parts of our lives that aren’t quite right. I love the artsy feel that allows for authentic reflection. Let’s take a closer look.

This is ONE of SEVEN collections you get when you become a member of

Name

Bio I started as a paper scrapper way back in early 2003 and a few years later found digi-scrapping and never looked back. I soon joined my first digi store and the joys of the learning curve, aka Photoshop. I joined The Lilypad in June this year – my dream store and instantly knew I’d finally found home.

I live in England, a little North of London on a map; with my soul mate and hubby Paul, Daughter Carly and more often than not – her boyfriend; plus our pets – a few birds and a lizard with attitude. Carly and her bf are both falconers … she gets to hand rear baby birds at home – mainly owls and more recently, Pied Crows and Hammerkops; they learn to fly in my lounge – oh the mess, but sheer joy.

I’m lucky enough to work from home and digi designing is my full-time occupation. I love to draw and paint – many of my illustrations end up in my kits. I hand make most of my kit papers and elements too, using a variety of mixed media. Many a kit/collection has been born out of necessity to scrap my daughters’ life.

I love a great quote and am always drawn to photoless layouts, so combining the two is perfect for me.

I started as a paper scrapper way back in early 2003 and a few years later found digi-scrapping and never looked back. I soon joined my first digi store and the joys of the learning curve, aka Photoshop. I joined The Lilypad in June this year – my dream store and instantly knew I’d finally found home.

inspired

I’m inspired by everything around me – an ad on TV or in a magazine, a colour scheme etc. Many of my kits are also born out of necessity to scrap our own family life.

tools

Computer: Acer, Windows 10, 16GB RAM, 3TB HD, several EHDs

Program: PS CS5

Camera: Nikon

Anything Else: Wacom Bamboo Tablet.

My design tools are mainly artists papers, watercolour paint, inktense pencils, gesso, modelling paste and other artist mediums; scanner and my sewing machine.

tipstricks

I like a page to look real/touchable (I guess that stemps from being a paper scrapper in the past); I’m always trying to perfect shadows.

The only tip I can think of is when scrapping, don’t forget to include journaling, the reason why you probably scrapped the photo(s) in the first place. And don’t forget the when and where. I’ve recently been going through some old family photo’s and some of them I’ve no idea of any details, which is a real shame.

favorite

My fave product may not have made it into my Lilypad store yet. I opened here in June of this year and gradually releasing older popular products, at the same time as trying to create new things.

Dearest Diary Collection is a great go-to product – it’s so useful for everyday scrapping, all about me pages etc – very generic and worth its’ weight in gold!

popular

What’s not to love about Harry Potter … and so much inspiration. The little hand drawn characters etc are also great for creating cards, party invites etc and kids love to cut them out and create their own works of art.
