Let ’s give a big welcome to Meagan’s Creations. We’re thrilled to have her with us this month. I just love the variety of designers we get to feature each month. I am so in love with Meagan’s kit, Artistic, part of this month’s Digi Files. I’ve been spending a lot of time lately with new forms of art — water colors, blending pens, and more. This kit will be perfect to scrap some of my artistic attempts!

This is ONE of SEVEN collections you get when you become a member of
The Digi Game this month. You also get an interactive Playbook (in PDF and iBooks formats) that has lots of ideas for using the supplies including techniques, tips, and tricks! All of that, including access to exclusive collaborations every four months you are a member, for only $7.50 total per month! Here are some layouts created using Meagan’s Creations’s contribution:

I’m Meagan Tuck. I currently live in Houston, TX with my husband and 3 kids. I love playing board games with family and friends, exploring nature, reading a good book, baking and scrapbooking (of course!). I received a B.S. in Math Education with an Art Education minor 10 years ago and so I also work online tutoring math and mentoring math tutors. I think math and art go great together! Other loves include penguins, couponing, “Fixer Upper” and Red Lobster!

I hadn’t been to a Renaissance Fair for many years but was excited to learn there was one close by to where we live. It was so fun to take my family and share that with them! I love this era and all the different sub-genres inside of it! In this layout, I focused on our fun souvenirs we took home, or our “wares”!

I first discovered paper scrapbooking 10 years ago. I had worked with digital art before this but wasn’t using it in memory keeping in any way. I found paper scrapbooking a bit daunting. It was so expensive and I was always scared to cut that paper! It also took so long! So when I saw my friend’s blog header and found out how she made it, I was hooked! I saw someone was giving away word art each day and thought I would try to design word art. I landed in a store 6 years ago and Meagan’s Creations was born! I kept taking classes, looking things up online and trying to hone my skills. Being on CTs first was a good experience for me to see what it took for designers to be successful and organized. I think my art education background, with the art classes I took, also really helps me in my design work. I don’t get to scrap as often as I would like these days but I still really enjoy it and do design certain kits specifically so I can use them in my own scrapping.

Often events or activities in my own life are my inspiration. One of my families favorite characters are those from “How to Train Your Dragon”. That’s where the idea for my “I Am A Viking” came from. My kids also love superheroes and we dressed up as The Incredibles for Halloween so I knew I had to have my “Superheroes” collection. I love looking at all kinds of styles, from eclectic, vintage, modern, simplistic, etc though I tend to stick to bright, vibrant colors. Pinterest is a great source for inspiration as well as my own CT!

Computer: I have a Dell, with 12 GB RAM, a 21″ monitor, with Windows 10

Program: I mainly use Photoshop Creative Suite 3, occasionally using Illustrator.

Camera: I have a Canon DSLR. I really don’t know more about the specs! I just point and shoot!

Anything Else: NA

I have a bunch of fonts. It gets pretty insane keeping them all straight! It’s hard for me to see the previews on the font menu sometimes in Photoshop so sometimes if I want to try out the different fonts, I open up Word and type the word (or title as it usually is) that I’m wanting to use and scroll down the fonts. Word is nifty in that it gives you a live preview of the word in that font just when you hover over it, so it’s easy to try out different fonts quickly and find the one you want 🙂

This kit really started out as a “Lord of the Rings” kit. I am a huge fan of LOTR, movies and books, and was really disappointed with the Hobbit trilogy. I went back and watched the LOTR trilogy (kinda in the background as I worked- that’s a lot of movie time!!) and was just again so inspired by the score, the amazing characters, etc! (Sorry, my nerd just really came out!) But I felt that the topic was too specific to work for a kit so I thought I would do something around that kinda genre, knights and kings, and then I made an add-on kit specifically for “Lord of the Rings” called “Rings and Kings”. I love this time period, the styles and elegance of it all, the gorgeous patterns, everything!

Superheroes is a vibrant and fun kit for boys and girls with super powers! Who doesn’t love heroes? With the Avenger movies, and the new Superman and Batman movies, superheroes are still a super-popular theme and I stuck to the great basic color palette for this. Adding the fun comic-book style halftones and speech bubbles really makes the kit jump out!
