Using a Kit on Several Pages

When I am shopping for digi supplies, it’s usually the colour scheme that first draws me in and makes me take a closer look at a particular kit. I check out the detailed previews and creative team sample pages and try to imagine a few different ways that the kit could be used. I look closely at the patterned papers and the elements, looking for versatility and a mix of theme-specific pieces and good general-use items.

With that in mind, I challenged myself to work with one kit and make several pages with it. I chose to use Amy Wolff’s The Whole Caboodle, which is included in this month’s Digi Files.

I made three pages and tried to make them as different from each other as I could.

Many Papers

I made “Giggles” for the May Playbook. I wanted to show off some of the really cool papers in Amy’s kit. I started with a mat of rectangles and then layered on patterned paper cut into triangles and circles.

Photo Focused

On “You and Me”, I picked a recent favourite photo of my husband and daughter. My husband prefers simple pages so I left the photo very large and added just a couple of embellishments. The photo is the star and the journalling accents it.

Lots of Layers with a Template

For this page, I picked a fun template and just went with it! I made good use of the neat flowers and buttons included in the kit, which I didn’t really use as much on my other pages.

I had a fun time with this challenge! Stretching a kit to make it work on three different pages made me really think about how I could maximize the papers and elements included in the kit.
