My name is Amber Morrison, and I live in Arkansas with my husband, our three children, and a crazy German Shepherd named Max. I love memory keeping, rainy days, the color pink, Chevy trucks, music, and reading.
I really fell in love with the colors in the kit I used, and thought it would be perfect for this unique photo of my daughter and her dog, Briska. I used one of my templates with a wide photo format, and I think it worked really well. I love that about this page, the wide photo going all across the page, and the element clustering I did. When I finished my page, the photo was in color and the green of the water really took away from how warm the rest of the page was. So I decided to convert to black and white, and then tinted it warmer to give it a sepia look. If you ever have a photo you love but the colors don’t work with your kit, always remember that black and white, or sepia is a perfect option!
I started teaching myself to use Photoshop in 2006 for photo editing and discovered digital scrapbooking in early 2007. I immediately became obsessed! I had never paper scrapped before but always loved seeing my friend’s layouts. It was just too messy for me though, with small kids so I never got into it. When I found digi I was enthralled. I could make as big of a mess as I wanted on my layouts and had nothing to clean up!! I began designing templates in 2011 just playing around. I loved using templates and always wanted to make them myself. In early 2012, after getting a huge response to my freebies, I began selling my products in my first store.
Creating my templates is so soothing for me, I get into a zone and the whole world melts away. It makes my heart happy! I am inspired by everything around me. Magazine ads, music, things I see on tv, product packaging even. I am very visual, so when I see something that catches my eye I am always thinking, hey I could turn that into a gorgeous layout design!
Computer: I use an old HP desktop with Windows 7 and only 4 GB of RAM. It’s so slow and has issues but still serves it’s purpose! I currently only have one monitor but plan on getting set up with another soon!
Program: I use Adobe PSE 10 most of the time when designing, but also have the Adobe CC.
Camera: Nikon D5100
My tip would be to just create what makes you happy and don’t worry about what everyone else is doing. If you like it, that’s all that matters!
I love these templates because first they were inspired by my favorite Green Day song, and second, I love the layers. I choose these colors by just browsing autumn palettes on Pinterest. I love how warm they are!
Hot Summer Nights is one of my most popular products and people tell me they love them because of the sprawling elements placement. Your eye is drawn to move across the page and everything just flows together. I was inspired by the color palette on this set. I found it on Pinterest and fell in love with the bright hues that contrast with the dark blue.
