Ranch Turkey Burgers

It’s summer (can we get an AMEN)! To me, summer means lots of friends, playing outside, camping, exploring, extra coffee on the porch in the morning, beautiful photos, and of course, yummy food.

Food is a huge part of our lives and therefore it is a huge part of my memory keeping process.

We’re in the middle of planning a number of camping trips, including one that will take us over 5000 miles and through almost 20 states. And because of all this travel, I am up for some new recipes.

I have two requirements for our new summer meals: easy and yummy.

And this one, my friends, is a winner. In fact, when my husband took his first bite — I kid you not — he said,

“What is this deliciousness?”

So easy. So yummy. So perfect for summer.

INGREDIENTS (four servings)

1 pound lean ground turkey
1 packet of powdered ranch dressing mix (or equivalent of homemade)
2 cloves minced garlic
4 strips bacon
4 whole wheat hamburger buns
cheddar cheese
burger toppings
extra prepared ranch dressing (optional)

1. Mix together ground turkey, fresh minced garlic, and ranch dressing mix. Set aside.
2. Cook bacon in frying pan or on skillet, reserve grease.
3. Shape meat mixture into eight patties and fry in reserved bacon grease. Flip when underside is browned. Continue to cook until meat is completely white (no pink).
4. Top burger patties with cheddar cheese, aslice of bacon, ranch dressing if using, and any other desired toppings.

And because I knew that this recipe was one that will stick around for a long time, I scrapped it and it will go into our family recipe book.
