I Love Strawberry Crush

I’m very excited to be welcoming Studio Digilicious to The Digi Files for the very first time! I think the thing I love the most about Christine’s designs are her cute little puffy animals, people, bugs, etc. They bring a smile to my face every single time I see them! Of course, her bright colors make me happy as do her adorable themes! We all had fun scrapping with her contribution, and I know you will too! Let’s take a closer look at “Strawberry Crush” that is included in
The Digi Files this month:

This is ONE of SEVEN collections you get when you become a member of
The Digi Game this month. You also get an interactive Playbook (in PDF and iBooks formats) that has lots of ideas for using the supplies including techniques, tips, and tricks! All of that, including access to exclusive collaborations every four months you are a member, for only $7.50 total per month! Here are some layouts created using Studio Digilicious’s contribution:

My name is Christine and I live in Brisbane (Australia) with my hubby, 2 young boys, Max the Boxer dog, Rocky the cat & Cookie the fish. I have been scrapbooking the traditional way (paper) since about 2002, although I’ve probably been doing it in one form or another all my life. I have been using Photoshop for years and made the leap into digital scrapbooking in 2006. I still enjoy both forms of scrapbooking, card-making and experiment with the hybrid style occasionally.

I am unashamedly and hopelessly addicted to scrapbooking, and particularly digital scrapbooking. Although it’s a bit of a juggle sometimes making time to scrap and design, I’m hoping 2014 will be my chance to dedicate myself to it as both kids will be at school! Yippee!

These were some snaps I took of the boys in our back yard. They were being very cheeky and having stacks of fun posing for the camera. ‘Grunt, Roar & Snort’ is one of my all time favourite kits, so I’ve done a few layouts with it, but I have a soft spot for this one. I love making the animals peek out from behind things, and I enjoy putting lots of detail in my layouts.

I’ve always been very arty & crafty, and even as a kid I kept a scrapbook/art journal of sorts. Around 2002, a friend who did Creative Memories introduced me to scrapbooking, and from the very first time I saw it, I was hooked! I used Photoshop at work to create newsletters etc, and eventually stumbled upon digital scrapbooking in about 2006. After a few months of enjoying being on other designers creative teams, I began to design the odd element/paper to match projects I was doing. And the rest is history!!

Life! Sometimes it’s a billboard, a song on the radio, a TV ad, something the kids have said, or just some light bulb moment in the middle of the night (yes, I have to get up and go scribble it down in my journal lol). I love planning out my projects, the creative process, and especially love it when the end result is exactly what I envisioned! I’m very colour-driven, (mum says I’m bordering OCD – when I hang a blue shirt on the line, it has to have a blue peg – eeek!), so most of my collections are evolved using a great colour-swatch as a starting point.

Computer: I have a custom built PC, designed by my local computer geek! I have a 128GB solid state hard drive to run photoshop & other software, 2 x 2TB hard drives (one for storage, one for back-up), 2 x 1TB EHD for Back-up, 16GB RAM, Intel Core i7 and I run Windows 8.1 Pro. I have a 24″ screen and use an Intuos 4 graphics pen/tablet full time (instead of a mouse). It’s a beast of a computer and I LOVE it, but I have my eye on the new ASUS 27″ All-In-One with touch screen! This one’s only 12 months old though, so I think my hubby would kill me if I went out and bought a new one now!!

Program: I subscribe to the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite of products, but I mostly just use Photoshop CS 6 – and I’m slowly working my way through some tutorials on Illustrator. I also use Art Rage and Filter Forge occasionally, and I use Lightroom to edit my photos.

Camera: I have a Canon EOS 7D – my baby 😉 I also have a great little Canon PowerShot SX210 and an iPhone to take happy snaps on.

Anything Else: Tablet – Wacom Intuos 4
Scanner – Epsom Perfection V600
A3 Scanner – Brother
Silhouette Portrait for hybrid projects

In relation to designing, I think the planning process is the key to a great collection and maximising your time management. Whilst relaxing at night in front of the TV, I sit with my journal and iPad and thoroughly plan out my collection. I include the colour inspiration, theme, quotes and title ideas, sketches of elements/papers, research into resources required, and a list of inclusions for the kit. This means, when I get some precious time to sit and design, I can just get straight to it instead of wasting time procrastinating!

This Collection was inspired by a recent trip to beautiful Fiji with my family. I chose typical vibrant aquatic and tropical colours, making sure they were bright & bold. Every time I look at this kit it reminds me of the amazing time we had – I still have hundreds of photos to scrap with it!!

When I finished designing this collection, I remember letting out a sigh of relief! It was epic, but I was so happy with the finished product! It still continues to be popular – I guess it can be used for so many different themes. My kids helped me think of a cool name for it, and suggested the animals to include. My hubby even had a say in what should be included, so it was a real family effort!
