*Sigh* I love Erica’s designs and I am thrilled to welcome her back to The Digi Files this month! I LOVE Erica’s eye for color and the bold patterns she tends to use. I always find her products easy to scrap with and they make me super happy on my pages! We all really enjoyed creating with Erica’s contribution to The Digi Files this month! Let’s take a closer look at “Sweet On You” that is included in

My name is Erica Zane and I live in Virginia with my hubby and 4 children (ages 4, 6, 8 and 12). Here are some random facts about me…I love green, love the beach, love sushi and enjoy exploring local nature trails with my family. I am super addicted to sugar in the form of cake, donuts and candy. I am allergic to cats and am terrified of snakes – they really creep me out! I don’t like going out after dark – especially in the winter. I’d love to exercise without doing the actual work but haven’t figured that one out yet…it’s on my to do list! 😉
As of the moment I’m typing this, this page was my most recent LO. I was testing out my new EZ as Pie template/stitch set and had a lot of fun pulling it together. I love the fun look of the pie chart with my photos and papers. I love it when I can use word art from a kit to make my title – on this page, I mixed a word art card, a journal strip and the alpha from my kit to create the title work.
I’ve been paper scrapbooking in some capacity since high school (a long time ago!) but really got into it consistently when my first son was born back in 2001. I’d been hooked on Photoshop since before that, so when I heard about digital scrapbooking a few years later, I was sold right away! I can never actually remember when I started designing – but I think it was about 6 or 7 years ago. I’ve been at Sweet Shoppe Designs for almost 2 years now and totally LOVE it!
Life! I can be inspired by the most random things while out running errands or by things going on with my family that I need a kit for. Sometimes I design things based on what I need, like my Cut It Out Tags…I wanted to make some gift tags to cut out on my Silhouette (but that I could use later on LOs too) and this set was the result.
Computer: I have a desktop PC that’s a few years old now with 4 or 8GB of RAM (my computer says 4, but I could swear it had 8…one of us is confused, possibly the human), Windows 7, and a 23 inch monitor.
Program: I use Photoshop CS5 and Illustrator CS5.
Camera: I have an older Canon Rebel XT.
Anything Else: I have a Bamboo tablet that I use occasionally and a Silhouette Cameo that I got a few months ago and am LOVING! I also have a small netbook that always sits next to me while I design so I can watch shows on Hulu while I work. Some of my faves include Dr. Who, Downton Abbey, Once Upon A Time (the original & Wonderland), the Voice, Revenge, Biggest Loser, Chopped, Survivor, Leverage…I could go on! 😉
I’m sure it’s been said a million times before, but learn your shortcuts. That’s my best time saver! For example, I clip layers a lot and if I had to go the menu every time to clip my layers together, it would make me crazy! I might ctrl+g in my sleep now…
Chasing Fireflies makes me smile. I just love the color combo in this kit and the general feel of it – it’s just so fun! I came up with the colors after much tweaking and with no theme in mind. As I started making papers, my buddy Denise said it looked like summer nights, so that’s what it turned into! I wanted to create a coordinating kit, so I actually used the same colors to create my Digi Files kit for this month, Sweet on You.
Underwater Escape came about after a family beach trip. We went to an aquarium while there and I got inspired to create this kit. At the time, I had recently made a tropical vacation kind of kit in similar colors, so I made this one to match for more scrapping options. Whenever I see this one in my store, it takes me back to the beach…oh, how I wish it was summer! 😉
