I Love You To The Moon and Back

I’m so thrilled to welcome back Jaimee to The Digi Files this month! I love Jaimee’s graphic style papers and whimsical, mixed media elements! I really enjoyed visiting with Jaimee about her history in digital scrapbooking and design; and getting geeky with her about computers, harddrives, and more. Jaimee is so passionate about digital scrapbooking, that it was contagious! Find this episode of the
Digest in iTunes, download it here, or listen below:

Let’s take a closer look at “I Love You to the Moon and Back” that is included in

My name is Jaimee Kaiser. I currently reside near Freiburg, Germany in the mountains of the black forest. I’m originally from Stratford, Ontario, Canada.
I’ve been married for 12 years and I have 3 daughters Sydney 15, Alexandra 9 and Zoe 4.

I am inspired by real life scrapbooking layouts – especially when using mixed media. I also like to create layouts using my own designs so I can show people what my vision was when I created it. I feel this layout shows that even though my kits tend to be packed to the rim- you don’t need to feel obligated to use so much on a layout to make it awesome.

I began after a friend (a store owner) introduced me to digital scrapbooking. She was aware that I was designing other things including web design and such – the rest is history. I wasn’t a paper scrapper in the beginning but now I am! I’m a project lifer!

I am inspired by so much! I am constantly evolving as a designer and my taste and style are evolving as well. I am more influenced by the tangible scrapbooking market and I like to bring a bit of those design concepts into my designs. I love color – who doesn’t. I tend to be bold and colorful in my designs – it’s how I like things.

Computer: I use a PC – windows 7. I have a mac but I can never get used to it. I have 8GB RAM, a 24″ Widescreen LG monitor. My computer is honestly not powerful enough to handle the loads in photoshop so maybe I’ll buy a new one this year:)

Program: I’m on the cloud so I have CC but I mainly use CS6 still as there are some new features that interrupt my workflow that I dislike. I haven’t taken the time to learn how to deal with that yet.

Camera: An entry level DSLR Nikon 3000 (hope to upgrade soon) with a few lenses.

Anything Else: an Intuos 5 Tablet, a CanoScan 9000f, Canon Pixma Pro9000 MarkII Printer (my baby), silhouette cameo cutting machine.

Play with your shadows to get a realistic look on your page. Experiment with shadow angles. I find that many use a standard 40-50% angle but have you ever completed a layout with a -90% angle? Separate your shadows on layers and warp them! It’s lot’s of fun!

For some reason – I really liked April Stoyteller collection from last year. It’s so colorful and fun and a bit shabby. It’s old – but I find myself playing with it every now and again.

This product is my most popular I would say. It is loaded full of brushes and variations of shapes – doodled, watercolor, stamped.
They allow you to recolor and layer them to make pretty cool accents for your pages!
