Southern Creek Designs his a wide array of genres that she can design, all of them, tied together with a shabby connection. I love that shabby edge in her kits. I really enjoyed visiting with her for the Daily Digi Digest recording (scroll down, or see the link in the sidebar). Lisa was a delight! I was so impressed to learn that she crocheted all of the snowflakes in her contribution this month! Let’s take a closer look at “Snow Flurries” that is included in
The Digi Files this month:
This is ONE of SEVEN collections you get when you become a member of

My name is Lisa Hanks, and I design under the name Southern Creek Designs. I opted for the super-size version of family, which consists of a wonderful husband along with 14 kids. Yes, I gave birth to every single one of the kids. This puts me on the fringes of sanity most days, and on others, I cross it.
I crochet edgings on my little girl’s socks using thread crochet. I love the delicate lace work when you crochet with thread, and what better to use it on, than baby socks.
I started out as a scrapper, working with paper, scissors, and glue. After one of my kids took my scrapbook glue and dumped it on my carpet, I started looking at other possible formats. By the way, when it says permanent glue, it means permanent. After finding several freebies online, I began my journey into digital scrapbooking. I started designing with the encouragement of a friend, who also gifted me with a Wacom tablet, and I have been playing ever since.
Hmmm, my children inspire me to create, along with magazines, Pinterest, colors, and random people who make me crazy. I guess LIFE inspires me to create.
Computer: OS: Windows 64 bit
2TB drive with a 2 TB external drive as well
and a 27inch monitor
Program: I use Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, Lightroom 5
Camera: I have a Nikon D80 with a firm desire to upgrade soon.
Anything Else: I use a Wacom Bamboo Pen tablet.
Specifically in Photoshop, you have the ability to place shadows on their own layer by right clicking on the fx, and selecting Create Layer. This will place all effects onto a separate layer.
I love the deep colors and the pop of yellow of the sunflowers. I love the bright yellow and the contrast it makes against the dark. I was inspired by the sunflowers growing in our yard, and figured I needed to do something with them.
