Quick Title Ideas

I listened to The Digi Show Episode 103 about titles with great interest. Personally, I like to have titles on my page, but I don’t want to have to spend a lot of time creating one. With that in mind, I collected a few ways to title a page quickly and easily.

Just a Font

The easiest way to title is to just write what you want in a title-worthy font.

Just a Font With Some Paper Clipped to It

To make the font look like letters cut out of paper, choose a thick font, clip paper to it and shadow the font. So simple and so effective!

Word Art

If a kit has word art, there’s a good chance I’ll use it as the title on my page. Katie did a post about the wonders of word art. It is really a time saver!

Photoshop Styles

Katie did a great post about scrapbooking with styles. There are so many great Photoshop styles available. To work with them, remember to rasterize the layer styles (under the Layers>Rasterize menu) so that you can shadow them afterwards. Here are few examples of fonts and styles:

I’ve used variations of it on many layouts.

A Simple Title Trick

This trick involves using a font, a stroke, paper clipping and possibly a doodle. And once you get the hang of it, it takes about a minute to do, I promise! Check out the tutorial for one of my go-to title techniques.

But Remember It’s Okay to Just Skip the Title

Not every page needs a title. If it’s too hard to fit a title into the design, or just taking too much time, it’s okay to not use one.
