Un-Digi: Scheduling My Life

image

Just over a year and a half ago, I wrote a post about Google Calendar.  I thought I would do another post today and share just what I love about it and why I think everyone should use it!

  1. I love that I can set up several “calendars” with a different purpose and view them all in one place.
  2. I can assign each calendar a different color.  image
  3. I can invite anyone I want to view and/or edit the each calendar.  For example:
    • Each of my kids have their own calendar and color that my husband can view.
    • I have a Daily Digi posting calendar with its’ own color that I share with Katie.
    • I have a birthday reminder calendar that I share with my sisters and parents.  I set it up and invited everyone and asked them to add their own family members birthdays to it.
    • I have a birthday reminder calendar that I share with my husband’s parents, siblings, and spouses.  I did the same thing with his family and asked them each to add their own family members birthdays.
    • I am currently working on a calendar to share with people that I work with on projects at church.
  4. I can access my calendar from any computer, my phone, and my iPad.
  5. I can set up my calendar to email me and text me reminders at any interval I want.  I have the birthdays set up to remind me two days before.  I have my kids and my personal calendars set up to remind me 30-60 minutes before an event takes place.
  6. I can add public calendars, such as Google’s weather calendar and holiday calendar.
  7. I can set up events to repeat as often as I need them to.
  8. You can even invite people to attend events and send them automatic reminders (I tried this a couple of years ago and it didn’t always work).
  9. In true Google fashion, there are lots of fun labs you can add to your calendar to increase the functionality.
  10. It’s all FREE!

If you don’t use Google Calendars, you might want to sign up and get scheduling. If you are already using Google Calendars, do you have a favorite feature I forgot?  Share it in the comments!

I’ve been using Google Calendar and I *love* it! I like that I can access all the calendars from my iTouch, even when I’m not currently connected to the interwebs.

I have a special calendar called “Possibilities” where I keep all the activities that I think my family might like to do, like Parks ‘n Rec classes, park days, etc. That I don’t forget cool stuff I run across in the newspaper, and we can also do things on the spur of the moment.

I started using Google Calendar not too long ago and I love it!. I actually bought an app for my itouch called CalenGoo that lets me add or edit events, add tasks, etc. on my ipod and then it syncs when I get hooked up to wifi. This saves me because me husband and I can look at each other’s calendars before we agree to add something else to the calendar. LOVE IT!!!

I just started one to share with my husband this weekend, but great idea on adding birthdays and having a separate one for each kid!

I love Google Calendar. I have it set to email my daily agenda each morning. So when I get up I can easily see what I have scheduled for the day.

I don’t use Google Calendar, but I do use the calendar feature in Outlook. It’s great, because my husband uses it at work also, so I can send him an invite for appointments, basketball games, etc. (which I color code for each family member), and all he has to do is “accept” the invite, and the event gets automatically added to his work calendar. I love it! :)

I love Google Calendar as well! I use it to send me reminders of regular things like backing up my blog every month.

When I heard you and Katie talking about this on the digishow, I decided to give it a try. It’s PERFECT for our family calendar. Everyone shares a calendar for family events. Now family council doesn’t take forever…we just quickly look over the calendar we already have. Everyone has access to it and can add events.

    Thanks for sharing!

I use Google Calendar for one more thing too – reminders for when to post CT layouts! I add a task when I’m done a layout to the day I can post a layout (if working ahead of time) so I don’t forget. In the notes for the task I add all my credits so once I’m reminded to do it, I don’t have to go and find credits, etc. I love it!

I love that it will send me a text reminder. I was notorious for forgetting appointments, but now I get a text 24 hours and 2 hours before anywhere I need to be, and I rarely forget to go anywhere.
