We are fortunate to have Lauren as part of our team here at The Daily Digi. She emailed me a few months ago and told me about her new venture, The Tattered Pear and I was so excited with the idea! I love seeing talented designers team up and two designers that work well together creating a label, was something unique. Lauren and Valerie still design independently but consistently put out new products together under the Tattered Pear label as well. The Tattered Pear designs have a distinct whimsically eclectic look and have quickly become popular with scrappers. We both were paper scrapbookers before going digital and were both scrappers before turning designers independantly. This year we decided to team up and create The Tattered Pear label after working together on a past colloration called Kitchy Kamera. We had an instant connection from the first time we worked together and became great friends and as they say, the rest is history! Our theory is, two creative minds are better than one!
Lauren: Honestly, I’m inspired by everything I see from art, to toys, to clothing… as well as by Val.. working as a team makes the process to much fun and definitely inspiring!
Valorie: You name it! I especially love fun uses of color!
Lauren: Dell Studio Laptop (4GB) + 4TB ReadyNAS (which is a “Network Attached Storage”); PSCS5 & Illustrator CS4; Canon Rebel XTi (but dreaming of an upgrade!)
Valorie: Mac (2TB); PSCS4 & Illustrator CS4; Nikon D70 (dreaming, too, of a full frame!)
We also both use Wacom Bamboo Tablets.
Lauren: To keep track of the supplies you use on your layout, keep a notepad text file along with your layout, named the same as your layout (I put the title name, plus _creds). This way when you want to upload to galleries, you have all that info handy! I also save which galleries (and links) in that file.
Valorie: Always keep a notebook with you, around the house, in your purse, to write down the funny things your kids say all the time! You think you’ll remember it later, more times than not you don’t! I love scrapping about the funny things my kids say!
