I have been a long time admirer of Tangie Baxter’s work. Her designs are so artistic and filled with symbolic details. Her art journaling projects are something that I can look at and study for a long time, just taking it all in. Let’s take a closer look at “What Rapture” that is included in The Digi Files this month:

Tangie Baxter, my real name is Tangela and I was actually named after an orange it’s true!
I live in Mesa, Arizona (love the smell of desert rain!) with my amazingly supportive husband of 15+ happy years, our 14 year old daughter and an Italian greyhound named Tank!
I love old movies like “Singing in the Rain” and “My Fair Lady” and am one of the biggest Harry Potter fans you’ll ever meet–borderline geek!

Here are two. I couldn’t decide LOL

I have always been a scrapper, I remember making scrapbooks when I was twelve, back then (oh I sound so old) they just started the “acid free” movement and scrapbooking stores were starting to pop up everywhere. As I got older and had a family of my own I was an “avid collector of supplies” I just couldn’t seem to make myself actually USE them. I just couldn’t seem to “get into it” and the mess was a real problem in my first tiny little 950-square-foot home.
In 2006 I started building and designing “family websites” where families could share their photos in a really cute environment. I just knew there had to be an easier way! In the spring of 2007 I was introduced to digital scrapbooking. I was literally jumping up and down in my chair “oohhing and awwwing” over the prospects of this new “digital” world. I immediately set to work teaching myself how to use the entire CS2 package. It became a passion and I taught myself to design that very summer, secretly though I still really struggled with the actual scrapping part, it just didn’t resonate with me.
I opened my own store in October 2007 and moved to Scrapbookbookgraphics in November 2008! Somewhere along the way I had an epiphany that I could start art journaling digitally! FINALLY something switched the light on inside of me, I had the spark! Digitally art journaling was something I wanted to do myself and couldn’t wait to get my next fix (making a new page). Altered art and visual journaling were my new passion, you might say my new “calling in life” and so the Art Journal Caravan was born!

Am I allowed to say everything? I can’t go anywhere without thinking about how something I see could be incorporated into a kit, whether it’s colors, patterns or actual found objects. I love that “my job” is also my passionate hobby! Everyday I jump out of bed ready to get to work! I get to spend hours searching every nook and cranny in antique and thrift stores, paint, journal, play in Photoshop… life is amazing!

I just got a brand new computer (I’m a PC gal) that I seriously have an unhealthy amount of love for. It’s an HP 570f, it has a AMD II 1090T 3.20GHZ processor, 16 GB of Ram and a 2TB hard drive with windows 7-64 bit. I also have two HP2711x LED 27 inch Monitors which I adore!
Programs: I use Photoshop CS5, Filterforge, Artrage, 7zip and Renamer by Den4b
Camera: I just have a Canon point and shoot, it is long over due for a replacement!

My tip is to make yourself a personalize workspace in Photoshop! Did you know you can save multiple workspaces for different tasks (such as editing photos, or for scrapbooking, or in my case designing)? It saves where you have all your menus placed, the size of your layer thumbnails (I always have mine on large with layer bounds) and a whole lot more! Did you also know that you can change the size of the text preview in your font menu? I would spend some time poking around your preferences menu and really customize Photoshop to fit your needs! Then make sure you go to Window–>New Workspace and save! You can save over the same one over and over again if you keep making little tweaks. If Photoshop ever crashes you can load your saved workspace and WALA everything is back to the way YOU love it!

How can you choose between your own children
but I do love this workshop because I really want everyone in the whole wide world to try art journaling and this makes it really easy!
