Push a Button and Watch It Scrap

Cousin Camp

If you are new to The Daily Digi, you might not know of my love and admiration of Wendyzine and her talent to automate. Wendy has an amazing ability to take the repetitive and often mundane tasks in digital scrapbooking and assemble them into actions. The results are timesaving and add a dimension of fun to the more boring necessities.

Some of my very favorite actions are her Scrap It actions. You open a template, push play, and the action scraps! I created the above layout in TWELVE MINUTES! Wonder what it looks like? I created a time-lapse video showing how her “Year In Review” Scrap It actions work. Please note that I did create the templates for this project, but I do not receive revenue on these actions (Wendy and I had a different arrangement and I was taken care of for my part of the work. I just don’t want people thinking I’m pedaling my own goods here Winking smile )

Wendyzine and our own Katie teamed up to create some actions based on Katie’s Power Scrapbooking methods. They are very cool (I bought them myself)! You might be like Katie used to be and hear the word action and shut down. I did a little interview with Katie this past week about her journey from action fear to freedom. Listen below:

Here’s a video where you can watch Wendy create a layout with these actions:

P.S. The supplies used in the layout at the top of this post were created by me and will be uploaded for members Smile

Thanks for the special video and interview! It’s always a pleasure to listen to Katie! I loved watching your page scrap itself (almost).

One more tip for PSE users, bookmark your install location for your actions so you can get right to it. I drag the location on my mac to my dock so I don’t even have to think about it. I can go right to it!

Steph, thanks for this post! But, I’m confused about the first video. Are you not doing anything in that video? It’s all automatic with the push of a button?? It looks to me like someone is working the mouse and doing the resizing of the photos, etc. I can’t believe that can all be done automatically?? I even bought Wendy/Katie’s Actions, but haven’t installed them yet b/c I’m waiting for my new copy of CS5 to arrive. I was using PSE 9.

The action stops for you to resize and place the photo and then you click play again and it goes to the same folder you were in before and then stops, you pick the photo and then hit open or enter. It brings the photo in, clips it to the mask, and puts it on the layout in the right spot, then pauses again so you can adjust. Sorry for the confusion! Congrats on CS5, you will love it!
