mle Card: Sewing A Straight Line

DesignersStudio

Welcome back to mle Card! I absolutely adore Emily’s adorable custom artwork that she includes in each collection she creates. It’s one of the things that truly sets her apart.  I also love the fun ways she finds to bring texture into her kits. “Berry Sweet” is filled with doodles, hand drawn flowers, berries, and frames. I love the contrasting and complimentary colors along with the bright gold. Let’s take a closer look at “Berry Sweet” that is included in The Digi Files this month:

I started scrapping in 2007 when I had my daughter. I had all these photos and just didn’t know what to do with them. In 2009 I started to think about designing my own stuff. But the thought was a bit overwhelming and I didn’t know where to start. I had landed a guest spot on Krystal Hartley’s team and she graciously gave me the chance to collab with her. Little did I know how that would lead to where I am now. It began a chain of events that has allowed me to do something I truly love and meet some of the most fantastic people. I feel very blessed to have found this calling.

My children are definitely a source of inspiration. I create a lot of kits that I need with the thought that other people likely need them too. I also am inspired by beautiful clothing and fabrics. I love wandering the craft stores just to browse the fabrics and think of all the beautiful clothes I could make (until I remind myself that I have a hard time sewing a straight line and no patience to follow a pattern).

Computer: Sony Vaio laptop, 6 GB of ram and 500GB hardrive (which is almost in the red its so full).

Programs: Photoshop CS3 Camera? Nikon D70

Anything else: Wacom intuos 2

tipstricks
If you need to do a 2 page spread but are intimidated by it. Just create one page. To create the second page rotate the page you just created both horizontally and then vertically. Put the two layouts side by side and play around with them a bit to get everything the way you want it. Nine times out of ten you will have created the perfect 2 page spread with minimal effort.

Cook2gether Bundle-I created this for myself because I was asked to put together all my family’s recipes into a book. I created 60 unique layouts using this kit. I’m still shocked at how versatile it turned out to be.
