BIO: Kelly Lautenbach is a wife, mom and scrapbooker. She enjoys playing with both paper and pixels and loves to find new ways of combining technology with the tactile side of paper and glue. Her work has been featured in major scrapbooking publications and she was honored to receive a spot on the Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame list in 2006. She enjoyed running her business, It Kit Studio, for a year and half until recently selling it to get back to the joys of family and crafting a creative life. When she’s not scrapbooking, you’ll find her in her studio trying out new crafty ideas and talking with Roscoe the standard poodle since her kids have grown up and run away to get married and go to college!
5 PRODUCTS I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT:
1. Alphabets and Fonts. I am a complete and total font and alpha addict!
2. Cardstock. Even my digital layouts quite often end up printed slightly smaller and mounted on cardstock. My latest favorite cardstock is Bazzill Swiss Dots. It’s beautiful paper! ![]()
3. iPhoto. It’s simply the easiest way I’ve ever found to quickly download and edit my photos.
4. Until a few months ago I would’ve said Digital Image Pro but my switch to Mac in January made it necessary for me to “suck it up” and learn about Photoshop. I am a total newbie to PS but I’m learning quickly and I don’t feel the need to curl up in a corner any more.
We’re starting to get along quite nicely, thank you very much!
5. My Canon 40d. It’ll be “enough” camera for me for a LONG time… and I’m very happy to know that it really was my old camera that had kept me from taking good pictures and not my photo taking skills!
MY STYLE: I think I’d describe my style as classic and photo oriented. I love the “art” part of scrapbooking but I really love it when my family can sit down with my albums and “get” how I felt about the pictures I chose to include in our scrapbooks. The stories are SO important and as I pursue this hobby further I really find that those stories are what I want to leave as a legacy to the people in the future who will pick up these books and see a glimpse of our life.
MY SCRAPPING IDOL(S): I don’t know that I could choose just one. I love to search through online galleries and enjoy looking at all the styles and variety out there. If you made me choose just one, I’d have to choose Gillian Nelson. She’s got such a fun way of telling her story and I love her perspective.
WHY I AM EXCITED TO BE ON THE TEAM: I am SO excited to be part of The Daily Digi Team and “mix it up” with digital elements and the traditional paper scrapping that I love. I can’t wait to stretch and learn and create. There’s a such a cool mix of elements to play with and my mind is spinning with ideas. I hope to show off digi elements in a fresh way that mixes with paper through scrapbooking pages and altered projects. We’re going to have a blast!
MY FAVORITE LAYOUT: This is one of my very favorite layouts. Ever. It’s from my Hall of Fame entry and I completed it back in 2006. I did the Family collage the “hard way” in paper but I created the “drawn” background in Digital Image Pro. I have to just laugh when I think of how LONG it took me to complete this paper layout and how quickly it could be done in Photoshop.
