Hi, my name’s Misty Mareda. I’m a 35 (EEEK!) year old mother and wife. My husband and I have been together for 10 years and have 8 year old twins, Abby and Noah.

I assume that most designers give digital tips so I’m going to break out something for my hybrid friends! I used to have THE hardest time trying to sew with embroidery thread. I’m not very good at sewing, so keeping a straight line was impossible. I discovered that if you take a push pin/thumbtack and simply punch holes in the desired pattern you can
weave in and out in no time. You can place any image (especially digital stamps) over your layout or card and push little holes all along the edge. When you remove the image you’ll know just where to stitch. Just make sure you’re working on a self healing mat or you’re going to end up with dents in your desk or table!
I discovered Scrapbooking at a friend’s house. She was showing me all these books she made and I loved it! All the fun paper, the coordinating stickers, and my favorite…buttons! I could spend hours at Hobby Lobby and my local scrapbook store. I didn’t have children then, so I mostly scrapped my friends and pets. But, once they came along there was no looking back.
After I was published a few times I started selling premade layouts and cards. My friend Janel and I started making our own auction templates to match our scrapbook pages and discovered how much fun it was to create something out of nothing! We started designing these elements for ourselves and then
realized that there was something called digital scrapbooking! We probably should have waited a while, but four years ago this month we started a store (The Digi Shoppe) and started cranking out kits. We learned as we went along and I have to say, we had some of the best times just trying to figure out what we were doing!
I’ve had to step away a few times over the past 4 years to deal with family issues and then my own health issues. Even though I didn’t quit paper scrapbooking, I always felt that tug to sit back down and play on the computer. In all this time I’ve met some amazing women, had a ton of laughs, and I can’t wait to see where digital scrapbooking will be in another 4 years!
I’m inspired by everything around me. Something my daughter is wearing, or something they happen to be into at the time. I love shopping or looking at magazines too!
I do most of my designing on a desktop. My computer crashed this year so I had to pick up the HP Pavilion Elite with 8GB, 1TB Hard drive, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit,
and a 27 inch monitor.
To be honest, I had to look that info up. LOL I’m horrible with remembering anything with numbers! I just know that I can finally design all night long without my eyes hurting for 2 days afterwards. I also have a Dell laptop but I just never took to it. It feels strange trying to design on anything other than a desktop.
I use PS CS2, Illustrator CS2, and a small Wacom tablet. I’m planning on updating for Christmas.

Misty’s kit is just so pretty! Every other pink-and-black kit I’ve used has been for a Tuxedo Cat Trudy page so it was fun to try something else. I really liked Little Daredevil from her shop!
