Dressing an Autumn Table

image

As I was trying to figure out what I wanted to post on for this un-digi, I came across some really cute table decoration ideas for Thanksgiving.  I thought these would be fun to share and even though our friends outside the U.S. might not be celebrating Thanksgiving (or have already celebrated it), these are fun things that can be used for any meal during the Fall!

One thing I started wondering while putting together this post (and I’m sure some readers can answer), do other countries eat Pumpkin things like we do here in the U.S.?  (For Example: pumpkin pie, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin ravioli, pumpkin soup, pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies….you get the idea).

Now, for the ideas:

The Kitchn has fun and super easy ideas:

Write.Click.Scrapbook has these ideas:

We started doing something similar to this on the 1st and I thought I was being so creative (chuckle), I guess not…but everyone is still enjoying it:

This is from Kitchn again:

image These would be great to spread around the base of a centerpiece.  There’s a tutorial on Patch of Dirt Farm (found via Crafty Crow):

Crafty Crow also has a whole category on Thanksgiving crafts you can do with your kids.  I think the idea I like most (not photo was available) was to put butcher paper on your tables and leave crayons out for people to color with! :)

I love Thanksgiving!  It will be fun to use some of these ideas!

Steph – I had never eaten pumpkin pie until I moved to the USA 8 years ago. I love everything pumpkin now and my son would eat pumpkin pie all year round. Have you tried pumpkin dip with ginger biscuits. Sinful but oh so tasty – I have the recipe on my blog here http://ronniecreates.blogspot.com/2008/11/pumpkin-dip-quick-easy-and-delicious.html

I wish we celebrated Thanksgiving here in Norway as well, giving thanks is so important. I’m thinking about making it a tradition for our little family at least. But no pumpking recipes here, I have never made one and haven’t tasted much either….. :)

In South Africa we don’t celebrate thanksgiving, or fall partly because we have too many ever green trees and the temperatures don’t get that low to be so wintery with snow. We have mizzy days with howling winds and rain and hail at times. But now we’re heading fast into Summer’s glory days and enjoying the warmer weather.
We also don’t do pumpkin everything, although most SA’ns make a delish butternut soup.

I don’t know about all pumpkin recipes, but Germany (where I live) makes the best pumpkin soup EV-AH! To be fair I had never had it before I moved here, but it’s delish and I haven’t found a recipe for it quite like they make it.

These ideas make me want to do something for my table! I’m thinking linen napkins and tiny gourds. Thanks for the ideas!
