Spot Lit Wall

To say that I am excited to share this fabulous designer with you is an understatement!  Kaye Winiecki is quickly becoming a new favorite designer of mine.  I originally spotted her because of her templates.  They instantly caught my eye and after using one of them for the first time, I was hooked.  As I started looking at her other templates and then her digital designs, I just got sucked in.  There is something about her color palettes and sense of style that just clicks with me — that “perfectly imperfect” style that combines good design principles with a touch of whimsy.  I hope you love it all as much as I do.  For  THE DIGI FILES 4, Kaye created a template pack AND a mini kit — yea!

And here is a page I created using both the templates and the mini kit.  I love that her templates are versatile — the elements (often painted flowers) can be recolored and used as is OR they can be used for placement idea of other elements.  For someone element-challenged like me, they are PERFECT.

You can get Kaye’s template pack, the mini-kit, and a TON of other stuff from other designers HERE for just $5.00!  THE DIGI FILES are the perfect way to get to try a bunch of new-to-you designers without the risk of spending lots of money.  This months collection is filled with amazing creations from some of the best designers in the industry.  Check it out!

I didn’t intentionally start designing, I just started creating my own papers and elements and from there some wonderful opportunities came my way.

I have been designing for 3 years now, wow times flies when you are having fun!

Both! I have found that if I’m not in the scrapping mood then I am in the designing mood, so most of the time it balances itself pretty well.

(Here is a layout of Kaye’s…isn’t she fabulous?)

It really is hard to say as I don’t tend to sit down and only do designing or marketing etc, that may be the intention but it is too easy to get distracted and wander off into digiland. I tend to use the computer off and on during the day and am glued to it in the evenings!

My most favourite products are the collabs I have done with other designers as I like to see how the different designing styles blend together but my favourite product of mine is probably ‘baked with love’  as I made these whilst my son and I played ‘shops’ together

One of my best selling products is my Paper Daisies which was part of the January BYOC and my aflafla alpha seems to be popular too.

1. my family

2. chocolate (Cadbury is the best!!)

3. hot weather

4. toy shopping

5. smurfs

6. my Mum’s shortbread

7. tulips

8. a quiet place

9. my dogs

10. did I mention chocolate?

1. ignorance

2. folding the clothes

3. shoe shopping

4. when someone steals the last piece of my Mum’s shortbread and it wasn’t me!

5. playdough squashed into the carpet

6. people who talk for the sake of talking

7. when my favourite pen runs out of ink

8. loogie hocking

9. crowds

10. dripping taps

Now let’s see some of Kaye’s gorgeous designs!

And here are some gorgeous layouts created with her templates and her digital designs (all images are clickable for full credits)

Thank you, Kaye, so much for being with us here at THE DAILY DIGI and for your awesome contribution to THE DIGI FILES.  Your talent truly inspires and I hope that many people have found themselves a new favorite designer!

And as a THANK YOU to our readers, Kaye is offering a 30% coupon until May 24 —  kwTDD30fun

Meet The Darers!

Yesterday we got to see some of the cool stuff behind the DIGI DARE site.  Now today, we get to meet the ladies behind it!  The staff of the DIGI DARES has changed a lot over the years but one thing remains the same…it is a group of scrappers dedicated to pushing the level of creativity and helping people try something new!

So here we go:  Just three things!

1. A one sentence bio

2. Why you love being a darer

3. Your favorite Dare layout!

Thanks again, DIGI DARES, for being with us this month!

Spot Lit Wall

THE DAILY DIGI is so excited for today’s SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT!  It is none other than the fabulous DIGI DARE team!  I will admit a little bias on this one…I LOVE the DIGI DARES.  I served on the team for a little over a year, and then after a six month break, rejoined.  I love the DIGI DARES because they share my passion…to challenge people to tell their stories, try new things, and think creatively.  Some of my very favorite pages have been created as a result of a dare.  But before we get into all of that, let’s see what the team came up with us for this month’s THE DIGI FILES.

Isn’t this SO cute?  I just love all the bright and happy colors.  And you know what?  This is a DIGI DARE exclusive…so after this month it will be gone for good!  Grab this kit, along with a bunch of other great stuff, for just $5.00.  You will get a jam-packed “bag” of goodies and you will also be helping to support the site and its vision.

You already got to see one page I made with this kit for National Scrapbooking Day!  And here is another…I just couldn’t resist all the fun colors!

In addition to this awesome kit, you ALSO get a 42 page pdf file of SIX NEW, NEVER SEEN BEFORE DARES and the pages the team created for them!  It is totally inspiring!  I loved all the dare ideas.

History of the site:

Back on August 25th, 2006, some of your fellow digiscrappers joined forces to bring the digital community a fun and fresh digi-scrapbook dare site. The site, idealized by Kate Hadfield (the fabulous and illustrious designer herself and winner, Digital’s Next Top Scrapper: Level 1 in 2006) is meant to be a fun place for digital scrappers to join in on challenges and win a prize each week for being inspired.  At the end of 2007, the site was taken over by Traci Reed, a veteran designer and digital scrapper with almost 5 years of designing and scrapping under her belt.  Since its start, The Digi Dares has gone through it’s fair share of staff, but one thing remains the same, we’re here to inspire scrappers to step out of their box!

Here’s how it works:

  • Each week the team presents a new dare and some “dare flair” — little things that can/cannot be on your page.  The dare and the dair flair exist to help you think creatively, stretch your comfort zone, and to jump in and try new things.
  • Scrap your page (using any kits/elements you want), upload it to a gallery, and then put your link in the comments section of that weeks post.
  • Everyone who participates that week receives a coupon to the weekly sponsor and then everyone is entered into the drawing to receive the grand prize of a $10 to coupon to ALL of the sponsor stores!
  • How great is that?  A site that challenges you, stretches you, and helps you get your stories scrapped and then they ALSO give you coupons for doing it!  LOVE it!

Here is what it looks like:  This is one of the dares out of the pdf file in THE DIGI FILES.

And here was my response to the dare:

See, it’s that easy (and that fun!)  This is a page I have wanted to do for a while.  Our family has so many little words and phrases that are every day for us but always make other people look at us like we are crazy.  They are part of our story and I wanted to document them…and now I have!

If  you want to be truly inspired, head on over to the DIGI DARES and look through previous dares.  There are some AMAZING challenges in there!  And if you want to be more involved or learn more about the DIGI DARES, try some of these links:

And be sure to come visit this Friday, when I will be hosting the dare.  I have already done my page and am SO happy with it!

Thanks, DIGI DARE team for being part of THE DAILY DIGI this month!  You know I love you and find you so incredibly inspiring.  I hope that all of our readers will think so too!

P.S.  In the orignal pdf file download, a layout on page 33 by Christine Newman was incorrectly attributed to Aggie Aviso.  It has been corrected.  She rocked the dare 🙂

WOO HOO!  I am so excited to have the sponsor spotlights back!  After an almost three week hiatus, I am just itching to introduce you to another fabulous designer.  And today you will NOT be disssapointed!  THE DAILY DIGI is thrilled to spotlight the designer CREASHENS!  Her work is just incredible…as I have been putting this post together I have just been in awe of everything I have seen.  Beautiful colors, flowing designs, and a rockin’ creative team.  Yup…this is going to be a good one.  But before we get to all that, let’s see what she created just for this months THE DIGI FILES.

creashens_sprung_previewIsn’t this absolutely, drop-dead, jaw-on-the-floor gorgeous?  I LOVE it.  It was one of those kits that I loved right away when I saw it but when I opened it, I just couldn’t believe it.  She has PACKED this thing full.  And what I really love about it is that it is one of those kits where everything is there — she has so much variety of color and element choices that I didn’t have to spend a lot of time looking for stuff to go with it.  She also has a number of pre-layered elements for the time-challenged like me!  I was able to put this page together in about 10 minutes!  And you know what…I adore it and am going to print it on a canvas and give it to my mom for Mother’s Day!

You can get this kit, and a bunch of other amazing designs, right HERE for just $5.00

If you want to see  25 of ABSOLUTELY STUNNING LAYOUTS using this kit, just check out what her creative team did HERE.  This is, hands-down, one of the most amazing CT’s I have ever seen!

Name:  Shen Guthrie (my design name is CREASHENS)

Stores: Catscrap and Two Little Pixels

About: My name is Shen Guthrie. I grew up in the small town of Alhambra in Los Angeles county. Since graduating college 12 years ago, I’ve been working as a full-time corporate graphic designer. I now currently reside in Orange County, California with my husband of almost six years and our 2 1/2 year old daughter who is the subject of most all my layouts.

I started designing because it just felt natural. When I was just a scrapper, I would try to be creative with the products I would buy… Cutting things apart, mixing different things, blending different papers… Creating new things to use. Born into a family of various mixed media artists, and after becoming a graphic designer, I just knew I was meant to be an artist of some sort, even though I always thought and wanted to be a teacher.

‘ve been designing digital scrapbook products since May of 2008, but as a graphic designer for over 15 years now.

Definitely both! I have to be and have both! I can’t imagine doing one without the other now. Although since becoming a designer, I’ve had less time to scrap. Scrapping is still my ultimate therapy pill. If I’m in a designing funk, I scrap. I can scrap my heart out and never be sick of it. I can’t say the same about designing, because at times, I can get burnt out.

(You can see all of her 2009 layouts right HERE)

Considering I get about 6 hours of sleep on the weekdays (with a full-time job) and maybe 7 on the weekends, I’d say 25 -30 hours.

I would have to say Sprung, the kit being featured here this month.

I would have to say it’s a toss-up between my more recent Swell Set No. 2, Uptown kit, Pure Paper Pack, and my debut kit, Natural Wonders.

1. my family

2. rainy days

3. foreign flicks

4. Audrey Hepburn

Isn’t it all just incredible??

And now…because the readers of THE DAILY DIGI asked for it, here are a bunch of layouts created with her CREASHENS! The layouts use a variety of her gorgeous designs. To see even more, check out the MOSTLY CREASHENS gallery over at Catscrap!

Thrilled doesn’t even begin to explain how I feel about having Kasia Designs with us here at THE DAILY DIGI this month.  There is just something about her whimsical creations and fun colors that makes me smile.  I just love how sweet and youthful they are…just packed with energy and happiness!  If you want an example, just look at what she created for THE DIGI FILES 3!

Isn’t it just SO pretty?  So light and airy!  I LOVE it!  You can get it HERE along with a ton of other great stuff…but hurry, you only have a few more days!

Here is a page I did with it. I am adding it to my inspiration collection.  I am realizing that I don’t quite have enough room for all the the quotes and verses I have started scrapping…I think I may have to start an album just for these!

My name is Kasia Sikorska,I am originally from Poland but at the moment I am living in the west of Ireland with my beautiful husband whom I met here and our gorgeous 2 year old son .I just turned 28 on April 4th but I must tell you that I still feel like in my early 20’s :).  I love spending time with my family and especially love playing with my son and being creative with him 🙂 I am also addicted to coffee, Photoshop, photo actions and my dslr cameras – Olympus E510 and Canon rebel xti and would love to get Sony A900 too 🙂

When I was scrapping there were times that I wanted to use something in my page but could not find it anywhere in the digiland and thought to myself that it would be so cool to be able to make it myself, so when I was given a chance to design over at WST I went for it 🙂 It has been an enjoyable process so far and I love that it helps me to evolve and be creative and I love every minute of it 🙂

Well I started last year in March so it’s been a little over a year now 🙂

I’d say I am both although recently I haven’t been able to scrap as much as I used to and I truly miss it…

It just depends – if I really have an idea for a product or a kit and feel really inspired I can finish it off within just few hours and sometimes it can take few days too.

I’d say that the most fav would be my latest kit Twilight

but I also adore The Artsy Town kit

and Once in a Blue Moon kit

I guess that every new kit I release sells pretty well but I must say that Whimsical Poetry Kit topped the charts

1. My hubby and my son.
2. My family
3. My cameras, Photoshop  and my photo actions
4. Drinking coffee when I design
5. Summer rain and the smell afterward
6. Sunrises
7. The feeling of discovering and experiencing something new when you travel and go new places.
8. Hugs – I really love hugging 🙂
9. watching a good movie in the evening snuggled on a couch
10. Stationery shops

1. people who are full of themselves
2. crumbs on the carpet or the floor in general
3. wet sink with splattered water everywhere after the dishes have been done
4. wind ( I really don’t like windy weather)
5. unwashed hair
6. people who leave their trolleys in the middle of the aile in the supermarkets
7. people thinking that because they have a cell phone they have to answer it every time it rings even during their conversation with someone else
8. dirty dishes
9. cold and freezing temperatures
10. spiders

Thanks, Kasia, for sharing a bit about yourself.  I think it is so fun to learn about the designers and they way they view what they do.  It is so cool to see the similarities and also the difference among designers.

Okay, so let’s see what other amazing things Kasia has designed! It is all just so FUN! (all images are clickable)

Thank you so much, Kasia, for being with us at THE DAILY DIGI this month!  Your whimsical designs and fun details are truly inspirational!  We can’t wait to see more!

For THE DAILY DIGI readers, Kasia has a 30% off coupon to her store. Use code  30offKASIAdesign (valid until April 19).

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT — Lynne-Marie Designs

Spot Lit Wall

If you love all things homemade, warm and comfortable, and totally unique then today’s post is for you! We are so excited to have Lynne-Marie Favreau with us this month at THE DAILY DIGI. I discovered her designs not long ago and was immediately in love with the worn style, the hand-drawn whimsical elements, and her free-spirited style. I think you will love seeing the amazing designs that fill her store. But first, let’s see what she made especially for THE DIGI FILES 3. You won’t believe all the stuff she packed in this kit!

And here are previews of the individual sets within the kit

Can you believe that you get ALL OF THAT PLUS designs from a bunch of other designers all for just $5.00? And remember, the sale of THE DIGI FILES supports this site. Our desire to avoid the site being cluttered with advertisers is only fulfilled in being able to have to proceeds of THE DIGI FILES supporting the site. You still have a week to pick up this month’s collection…after that, everything goes back into designer stores for its regular market value.

Here is a page I made with it (everything from the page is from Lynne-Marie’s kit; font is misproject)

Lynne-Marie Favreau lives with her husband André and three darling boys, Caleb, Nathaniel and Jude in the Montreal region of Quebec, Canada. She and her husband are also actively involved in music. They recently completed a French album with worship leader Paul Baloche (www.leadworship.com). Homeschooling her oldest son also takes up a big chunk of her time and energy, but she enjoys designing for Catscrap and Zig Zag Scrap whenever she can!

STORES: Catscrap and Zig Zag Scrap

BLOG: Lynne-Marie Designs

I used to be an elementary school teacher. When I had my babies I just couldn’t bear the thought of leaving them to someone else while I took care of other people’s kids. I decided to redirect my career towards graphic art and took on contracts from home. I opened Photoshop for the first time in November of 2007 and took an online course of study. In January I discovered digital scrapbooking and figured that it was something I could do!! I knew NOTHING of the industry! Figuring that I didn’t have the necessary contacts to “get into” an established store, I opened my own (Zig Zag Scrap). One week before our opening day, Catscrap (my FAVORITE store) had a designer call. I applied, and to my surprise, was accepted!!!

I created and sold my very first kit (Bubble Bliss) in June of 2008

Now that I design, I have very little time to scrap, but I get so much satisfaction from creating my kits that I don’t miss it too much. However, I am really behind in my memory-keeping!! One of these days I’ll try to catch up… (ahem, ahem, ahem…. yeah, right!)

When we first opened Zig Zag Scrap (myself and Annick Philibert), I was working at least 60 hours per week! I had countless sleepless nights. We were learning about the business, setting up our store and designing all at once! To top things off I decided to start homeschooling in September and we had our release of the Paul Baloche album, so I was really doing too much! Recently I took a long hard look at my life and reorganized my priorities. I’ve vowed to spend no more than 15 hours per week on my design related work. This means that I will not be one of the more prolific designers out there, but that’s fine with me. I have so many other goals to acheive! I am also working on my songwriting and plan to release an album of my own stuff this year.

My all-time fovorite product so far is my Mixed Media collection. It took me two months to get it done, but I keep going back to it whenever I have a little time to scrap. This is truly the style that suits me best. My best work is done on real paper with messy paints and markers. Although I admire designs with a more graphic look and I’ve tried to do some myself, I just keep coming back to the hand-made look. If I can slip a second kit in here I have to say I also loved working on my Seuss inspired kit “Imagine”.

Hands down, my Tattered Overlays… I think most people know me by this product alone! Incidentally, I have a new set of these available in both my stores (both PU and CU versions).

1. The sound of my children laughing
2. Chocolate (ohh… how I wish I didn’t love it so much!)
3. A new drawing pad
4. The smell of Playdoh
5. Falling asleep to the sound of dh playing music
6. Spring
7. Getting up before everyone else and actually having some quiet time in the morning!
8. Taking a walk in warm, rainy weather
9. Getting rid of stuff
10. A day all alone at home (I’m sooo much more effective!)

1. The sound of my kids fighting
2. Getting to bed too late
3. Drivers who think they own the road
4. Recorded messages trying to sell me something on the phone at suppertime (what are they thinking!?)
5. Laundry, Ironing and general housework!
6. Winter (yeah… and I’m in Canada!)
7. The question “Mom, what can I do?” when the playroom is full of stuff!
8. Discovering that my two year old bit off the top half of my favorite lipstick
9. Bad hair days
10. “Photoshop quit unexpectedly”!! (I think all designers have to agree on this one!)

It’s been fun getting to know Lynne-Marie a little bit better…but it will be even MORE fun to show you some more of her really cool products! (All images are clickable)

And…Lynne-Marie has some new Tattered Overlays in her store!

Thank you, Lynne-Marie, for being with us here at THE DAILY DIGI this month! I know I have loved seeing your designs and getting to know you a bit better. Your style is one of a kind and I am sure you will go far!

As a gift to TDD readers, Lynne has a coupon for you

She also has this note for all of you:

Several of you have asked me to include templates with my overlays as not all programs work without them. I’ve put together a file with templates for Tattered 1 and 2 that you can download for free from my BLOG. Of course, they are of no use if you don’t have the overlays themselves. All future sales of these products will include the templates.

If fun, fresh, and FABULOUS is your style of digi product…then today is your day!  We are so excited to have Jacque Larsen with us here at THE DAILY DIGI this month. Jacque is known for her great hand drawn/cut/colored paper pieces.  They add just the most wonderful handmade look to your pages.  And they almost make me want to get out my paper and scissors again!  Look at what she made for THE DIGI FILES 3!

Isn’t that just SO CUTE??  When I first got the set I didn’t know what I was going to use it for (since I have yet to start a garden…plants just seem to die with me doing nothing but walk past!)  But then just last week I went with my kids on a field trip to a place called Little Farmers. There, they got to plant carrot seeds, pick bok choy, and feed the animals.  This set was PERFECT!

Before we take a look at all the other cool stuff in Jacque’s shop, let’s get to know her a bit better!

My name is Jacque Larsen.  I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico with my beautiful family. I have 4 happy and healthy children and one very supportive husband. We also have an english mastiff we call Shrek. Although, I rarely claim him. And not to leave any other pets out… my son is whispering over my shoulder to include his bearded dragon ‘skipper,’ his 4 neon tetra fish, and 2 snails. 🙂

STORE: Jacque Larsen at The Lilypad

BLOG: Crazy Scrapper (there are sometimes freebies!)

I started designing May 2007 and opened shop at my first store TDC on June 1st, 2007. I started making my paper creations after being inspired by one of my daughters favorite children’s book ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear’ by Eric Carle. That book and another one of her favorites ‘Goodnight Moon’ were the result of my very first paper pieced set ‘Little Luna’. Truth be told to what triggered my desire to sell was little/no cash for all the NSD sales in June.. teeheehee

See above 🙂

I was FIRST a traditional paper scrapper. Making my first album after my oldest daughter was born. That was over 12 years ago. After 4 kids and relatively no time to scrap I tried digital scrapbooking when my youngest was almost a year old. That was in December of 2005. I haven’t  touched a piece of paper since! WELL, not including the papers that I paint, cut and piece to create ALL of my digital designs.. ROFL!

I probably spend about 2 hours a day. Whether it be painting, cutting, gluing, scanning, cleaning up my images, answering emails, sneaking in to scrap a layout or peeking into online forums and galleries. I’d like to say I spend 14-20 hours a week actually ONLINE… however, most of that is just wasted time in the forums, looking at layouts or messing around in Facebook. ROFL! Each set I create really only takes me a couple hours from start to finish.

Oh man… Every time I make something new, I say it’s my new favorite. ‘Little Luna’ has always been one of my favorites. (Now retired because it never sold well, but I still love it and use it quite often…) I also love most of my collabs with Kate Hadfield, but my NEW favorite set would have to be these 2 sets from the November BYOC.

I don’t know FOR sure what my best selling product is… My pieces are so ummmmmmmmmm. unique. And I really try to appeal to a HUGE variety of scrappers. But I do remember shortly after my debut at TLP I put up this alpha in the March BYOC.

I sold SOOOOOOOOO MANY (and still sell quite a few to this day).  It is so funny to me, because I was just experiencing with watercoloring by hand on some cardstock and didn’t really like the way they turned out.  I NEARLY trashed this set.  But my husband encouraged me to just try and put it up in the store. We get a giggle out of that every time one sells. Just goes to show, you never know…

1. My beautiful children
2. My wonderful husband
3. My camera
4. A clean home
5. Scrappin’
6. Chocolate Cake Batter
7. Summer
8. Caramels
9. Diet Coke w/ lemon
10. Going out to dinner

1. Crumbs in the butter dish
2. Dishonesty
3. Cold (I HATE being cold or having cold feet!)
4. Mornings (I’m sooooooo not a morning person)
5. Little boys not lifting up the toilet seat.
6. People on cell phones while standing in line at the post office, or cash register…(SO RUDE!)

Fun.  Whimsical.  Cheerful.  Lovey.  All of these words come to mind when I think of KITTY DESIGNS.  I was first introduced to Kitty Chen and her designs when she was a guest designer at Scrapbook Graphics.  I love her fun and playful designs and I was thrilled when she agreed to be part of this months sponsoring designers.  I can’t wait to show you all of the fun things she has made.  I have had fun being stretched and scrapping outside my normal style using her whimsical creations.  Look what she made exclusively for THE DIGI FILES 3!

Isn’t it SO cute?  It just makes me smile looking at it!  You can get it plus a whole lot more for just $5.00.  Don’t miss it!  Here is a page I made with it!  Now I just need to find a need for those bees because they are so stinkin’ cute!

My name is Kitty Chen.  I was born in Indonesia and am now living in the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta.
I am a mom to Joeruel who will be 3 years old in April. My husband, Ricks, is a graphic and web designer.
We (even my son) really love arts and we enjoy everything that related to art and music.

BLOG: Storytime

I was scrapping pages for my son every day.  I started to think that maybe it would be more special to scrap using my own designs. Over time, I began to love designing more and more.

I started selling in early March 2008.
I was at We are Storytellers at that time. I learned a lot from being there.  After that I moved to Oscraps, where I have been  since June.

Both! My principle is that if I provide things for people to scrap their memories, I  need to scrap my own memories and keep telling stories with my pages.

I do this full-time and it pays my bills. So I don’t have any average work hours for this. I work any and every time I can —  days, nights, even on holidays. I do try to spend as little time as possible working on the weekends.

1. My family: my son and my husband
2. My parents and brother
3. My friends (real and online friends)
4. Arts
5. Writing
6. Reading books
7. Food (yeah I love to eat!)
8. Movie
9. Shoes
10. Drinking coffee

1. My son’s therapies needs

That’s all. I have few little things that bug me of course, but I don’t really care/complain.

Now that we have gotten a little peek into Kitty’s life, let’s see some more of her fun designs!  (all images are clickable). I love the variety that she has…kits, element sets, templates, quick pages, and even commercial use products!

And here are some GORGEOUS layouts made with some of Kitty’s products

Thanks so much, Kitty, for being with us this month at THE DAILY DIGI.  We love your designs and can’t wait to see what you come up with next!

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT — Micheline Martin Designs

We are so excited to share with you the designs of super talented, MICHELINE MARTIN!  I have always been a fan of her work. Her soft and sweet colors always make me want to scrap! I just love them all! But before we get into all of that, we need to see what she created for THE DIGI FILES 3!

This set of glitter sprays is so FUN! They come in a bunch of different colors. I love how they can add just an extra something to your page…and they are SO realistic!  You can get them, along with a TON of other great stuff in THE DIGI FILES 3.  Just $5.00 for so much! Here is a page I did using them (along with a GORGEOUS paper pack of Micheline’s)

My name is Micheline but everyone calls me Mitch, I’m a work at home mom (I currently run my own private daycare in my home), I have 2 sweet kids, Logan who is 4 and Mystaya who is 5. I am married to my high school sweetheart for 6 years now but have been together for 10 years. My first language is French which many people do not know and I currently live in Ontario Canada.

Shortly after my son was born I was on my “mommy sites” a few girls would make siggy tags for each other, this interested me very much as I loved how beautiful the papers and elements were, so I started playing around in PSP trying to learn the best I could (I’m self taught) and eventually figured out how to do simple things.

I’ve been designing for 4 years now

I am only a designer. Don’t get me wrong, I have scrapped, but I think I’ve only made a total of 5 layouts

I used to devote Monday-Friday from 7pm-2am working on my digital designing, but found myself to be slowly burning out since I work a full time job as well.  So I decided to do the best thing for me and my family and only design 1-2 times a week if that during nap time.

1) Lots of Hugs and Kisses from my kids
2) Movie night Fridays with my hubby
3) gerbera daisy’s
4) playing mario kart wii with my son and letting him win — LOL
5) taking long walks
6) the smell of spring
7) rain in the summertime
8) my big comfy bed after a long day of work
9) baking
10) pepsi

1) fake people
2) people who do not have manners
3) too many commercials during my tv program
4) those yucky sun chips in my party mix chip bag
5) When I need to restart my computer and it freezes during the re-boot (did I mention it’s not an old computer)
6) When you’re on the phone and you’re on hold and they put that annoying elevator music on
7) Elevators that have glass walls (not everyone wants to be able to see how high you’re going)
8) Huge lineups
9) When my children hide the remote
10) bickering and whining from my children

And now let’s take a peek at Micheline’s store…so many amazing things inside!  I think we need to convince her to keep designing (she is in semi-retirement)

Micheline also has some great designer resources available (like the crunch time template above).  She also has these:

Make sure you check out Micheline’s store for these and many other great products.  She has some great stuff retiring March 31st and many of them are just $1!  And add that to the fact that Micheline is offering 30% OFF all her stuff for THE DAILY DIGI readers(dailydigienjoy30 expires April 15th and can only be used once per customer) you can grab some AMAZING deals!

Micheline also has a great freebie just for THE DAILY DIGI READERS!

Thank you SO MUCH, Micheline, for being with us this month at THE DAILY DIGI.  Your work is so beautiful (as is your commitment to your family).  We hope that you can find the balance and keep designing.  We love what you do!

Spot Lit Wall

When I first opening THE DAILY DIGI and was thinking about who to ask to be sponsors, Franziska Altmann was one of the first I thought of.  I didn’t really know her at all (other than that we were both at SBG) but I was in love with her designs.  I am a sucker for a great preview (note to all designers: you previews sell your designs so make them good) and Ziska has great previews.  Even more that, though, is that when you open the kit you find that the inside of the kit lived up to its preview (second note to designers — if the preview is the only good thing about your kit, customers will nont come back.)  Her designs or gorgeous and full of unique items.  I can’t wait to show you some of my favorite things.  But of course, we have some other things to do first!  Let’s see what she made especially for THE DIGI FILES 3.

Isn’t this kit SO CUTE?  I am not usually into themed kits but this one was just so adorable!  I can’t wait for my next time to teach Sunday School either — those sheep are going to be PERFECT for the unit they are working on!  In the meantime, here is a page I made (image is clickable for full credits)

My name is Franziska Altmann and am from Dresden Germany. I’m Mom to a two year old girl Charlotte, and I live together with her father, my boyfriend Jan.

GUEST DESIGNER at Scrap Orchard for March

I was scrapping pages for my daughter’s yearbook with a small budget, so I started tweaking stuff, and making elements and papers on my own. I had my daughter while I was studying to become a landscape architect. I was familiar with Photoshop and Illustrator, so making a baby book got me addicted to digital scrapbooking. After finishing my dissertation, I decided to be a stay at home mom for a while and selling digital scrapbook items was a nice way to earn the money to buy me more scrapping supplies.

I started to give away freebies on my blog from the very beginning. It took a while before the idea of selling hit my mind. I joined the Sunshine Girls for a freebie extravaganza in November 2007. However, it took a couple of months until I was ready to start selling my designs in May 2008, because I wanted to finish my dissertation first.

I think I’m both, even though I stopped uploading images to my online galleries. I love creating little hybrid gifts for my family. But I’m way behind on our yearbooks and vacation albums because I focus more on designing right now.

It depends, I have the rule of no computer time while my daughter is with me, so my designing time is limited to the times she is asleep or at daycare. I would guess it is about 6 hours on weekdays, and a bit less on the weekend. It is really hard to divide between computer work time and computer playtime.

Ocean Cloud of my kits alone, but there are lots of collab’s I love!

This is my latest and right now favorite collab (this changes with me creating them)
