We are so excited to have Leora Sanford of Little Dreamer Designs with us here at THE DAILY DIGI this month!  I first got to know Leora’s work when I was a part of the Dream Team over at LDD and I have loved it ever since. Leora’s designs are fun, fresh, and full of awesome colors.  I love that Leora is willing to step out, try something new, and be true to who she is.  Before we get to know her a bit better and see some of her work, let’s look at what she created for THE DIGI FILES 5.

You can get this great kit as well as a TON more all in THE DIGI FILES 5 — available for just ONE MORE WEEK!

It’s so fun!  I love the worn and comfortable colors.  Here are some of the fabulous layouts by our team that were create using this kit.

BLOG: My Many Layers

When get an inkling to try something, I act on it! I looked at all of beautiful things being designed and thought, “I wonder if I can do that…” I just started playing around and loved it. Luckily I was given the chance to sell at Designer Digitals. I moved to Little Dreamer Designs 2 years ago and have been happy to call it “home” ever since.

A little over 3 years ago (wow…time flies!!)

BOTH. I can’t imagine doing  one and not the other. Since I started out as a scrapper, it made sense to make the transition to a designer. Plus it helps to be able to play around with things before I put them out there for others to use. If I can’t make a product work on a layout, it’s back to the drawing board.

The fantastic thing about being a designer (at least at Little Dreamers) is that my schedule is as flexible as I want or need it to be. Because I’m a school teacher, my “free” time fluctuates, so I make it work when it fits in. I would say I spend anywhere between 3 and 15 hours a week being a designer.

That would most likely be my kit,  “A Lovely Afternoon”

Sponsor Spotlight – Stephanie2

Stephanie and Steph are the two girls behind Stephanie2 (or “Stephanie to the power of two” or “Stephanie squared”) right here in The Daily Digi Store. Naturally, the first thing people want to know is how we started working together, which we will share and so much more after we share our contribution to The Digi Files 5.  The Digi Files are what help pay for the site costs and bring you the content that you enjoy on  daily basis, while keeping the site free of blinkies, banners, and ads.

Here is what Stephanie2 contributed to this months The Digi Files:

Here are a few layouts from the girls at TDD:

All of the Stephanie2 doodle packets include the colored doodles in png format, the outlines of the doodles in png/abr format, and pdf files of all of the doodles for easy printing in your hybrd projects (and for our paper scrapping friends that don’t want to mess with any programs at all 😉 ).  All of the Stephanie2 kits also include a font that co-ordinates with the alpha.

You can get these collections along with many other items for just $5.00 in The Digi Files5.

alittleaboutstephanie1stephanieStephanie is a self-proclaimed “die-hard-long-live-paper-scrapper”.  Her hybrid projects are jaw-dropping gorgeous (you can see them in some of the previews in the store) and her doodles are the same!  Stephanie is the doodler of the bunch and has been designing in the paper industry for years.  She is also known for her brand Homegrown Hospitality and always has some kind of fun scrap related project going on.  She does most of her creating in her Shedteau (the, dare I say, “shed” in her back yard…shhhhh don’t let her know I called it a shed)!  Stephanie is a “Simply Complicated” girl….I love the simple things and most of the time complicate them…in a good way.”

stephI (Steph) am the digital girl of the bunch!  I have been scrapping on my computer since 2003 and love everything about it!!  I am also known around the digiworld as islandmom and I opened Fontologie (my font business) in the spring of 2007.  I love challenging myself by learning new programs and skills, that’s one of the reasons I love digital so much, there is always something new to learn!  I joined Janet here at The Daily Digital before the site went live and love being here!  I am really enjoying teaming up with Stephanie to bring her doodles to the digital world!

startedI (steph) came across Stephanie’s designs for the first time a couple of years ago when I was at the bookstore and saw a magazine called “Homegrown Hospitality” and bought it.  It had some of the cutest doodles in it I had ever seen!  I LOVED it!  Fast-forward to early this year when I saw a post on a blog about ordering your word of the year in a doodle form.  I followed the links to Stephaine’s blog and instantly recognized her style to be the same doodles as the ones I loved in the magazine.  I then went to her Etsy store where I saw a Valentine’s Day kit you could pre-order along with some printable doodles and a font.  So, I emailed her and asked if I could just get the printables and the font.  I just happened to link her to The Daily Digi and my font site and asked if she had ever thought about selling stuff digitally.  Stephanie emailed me back instantly and things snowballed from there.  At some point we decided on the name Stephanie2 because we just kinda liked it!

But we keep finding ways our pathes have crossed, just recently we discovered that Stephanie knows my cousin and in fact…my cousin took her wedding photos!  Yeah, we thought that was funny too!

Our process…it really varies based on the product and is kind of random.  Sometimes I will email Stephanie with an idea and she will say great and doodle it, other times, she just doodles and then sends them to me and says, “How about these?”  The “Together” collection was a bunch of different doodles she sent me at different times that all happened to be in the same color scheme, so I (Steph) put them all together…heehee.  The kits, we go back and forth…she doodles, I add ideas and elements, then Stephanie adds ideas and they kind of explode. No matter what though, she is always the doodler and I am always the digitizer!

Stephanie’s favorite colors to use are what she calls her “homegrown colors” which are barn red, sage green, liberty blue, and tan.  But, she typically just grabs a color and goes for it! My favorite color is PINK…which Stephanie doesn’t really care much for (although I think she can rock the color in her doodles!)  We discovered that we both love gingham when I made up a couple of gingham papers to go in Whirligig and Stephanie emailed me back and said, “I LOVE GINGHAM!!  Let’s do them in every color for both of our kits!” So, we did!

This brings us to our favorite products.  Stephanie says her favorite is the gingham papers.

My favorite products are usually the newest doodles we have done (Pippi in this case) but I think our first two kits will always be on my list.  I love that they have fonts that match the alphas!

I’ve always been the kid of person who looks at something and thinks, “I wonder if I can do that.”  Usually the answer is no (lol), but I had a little background creating web graphics and discovered that this was something I could do, and that I really, really enjoyed doing as well.

‘ve been designing for almost 2 years.  I started posting freebies on my blog back in September 2007.

I’m mostly a designer.  I’m trying to find more time to scrap, though.

I love art and scrapbooking, so it was a natural fit.  The low mess is perfect for my busy life with lots of little kids running around.

about 4 years

I try to be be both, but tend to be very slow at both.  😀  I am a perfectionist with regards to designing and scrapbooking, so it takes me a long time to design anything.  They both fill different needs in my life.  I couldn’t have one without the other.

Not as much as I would like.  Since my baby has been moving on his own ( for about the last year or so) I have had scale back drastically.   He is a crazy, busy, climbing, no fear, adorable, little one.  When he is awake, I have to be with him or very near him to prevent bodily harm or serious damage to my home. LOL!!

Hmmmm…I usually love my most recent creations.  I love my Blinging
, Swirls, and Frames, Tall and Chunky chipboard, and A li’l Dainty
.  Oh!, and I can’t forget all the quiet books Jacque Larsen and I have
done together, My Book of Colors, My ABC book, and My Number Book (I love
them and so do my kids):

No question…my Date Stamps

my family (especially hugs from my kidlets)
my Savior
foot massages (with lotion)
exercise (love me a little P90X)
chocolate (ice-cream is my favorite, and the more variety of chocolate,
fudge, brownies, or whatever, the better)
my mac
my camera
my paint brushes
clean sheets
the smell of vanilla

when I am craving chocolate and I can’t find any in my house
dirty clothes (especially socks) left on the floor in my living room
(this is harder than I thought)
getting sunburned when I put on 50 spf sunscreen (twice)
bossy people
letting people down
rude people
not being as organized as I wish I were
my lack of knowledge with my camera
wet towels tossed on the floor
my allergies

It has been fun getting to know Amber a bit better and seeing some of her favorite products!  I want to add a few more of my favorites to the list (she already mentioned some of mine — her date stamps end up on about 75% of my pages!)

Thank you, Amber, for being a part of THE DAILY DIGI this month.  Your fun and fresh designs always make my pages fabulous!  I hope our readers love your designs as much as I do!

This month we get the privilege of having the fabulous designer Amanda Rockwell with us.  Amanda has always had great color palettes, fresh ideas, and the perfect amount of “comfortable wear” on all her stuff.  I just love how it all comes together — kits and elements sets that are down to earth and totally usable.  We’ll get to see some of her fabulous stuff later, but here is a sneak peek for you.  This is the mini kit Amanda created for THE DIGI FILES 5.

I started designing 4 ½ years ago when I was on a photography journey. I ended up giving the photography dream away because I loved designing so much!

I do scrap when I have free time! I shopped recently and really need to use my new items 🙂

10. Drivers who zip around through traffic because they’re in a hurry to sit at a stop light!

Now let’s look at some of Amanda’s other work.  One of the things that Amanda is best known for is her extensive collection of commercial use items.  She has everything you could ever want!  Even you aren’t a designer or aspiring designer, some of her CU items are still great to have.  I LOVE having a collection of a paper textures, etc. to use so that when I need the perfect color paper I can just make my own.

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT — Kelleigh Ratzlaff

I am SO exciting to be sharing a fabulous designer with you this month — Kelleigh Ratzlaff.  Kelleigh has found her niche in the digi world, creating AMAZING hybrid templates.  After looking at today’s post you are going to be dreaming of people you can make some gifts for.  Kelleigh makes whipping up something beautiful SUPER easy!  I love it!  Before we look at all the cool things you can make, let’s first take a peek and what she made for THE DIGI FILES 5.  Give this project a try and you will be hooked!

Isn’t it SO cute?  I whipped one up in about 25 minutes.  Gotta love fast and easy…and did I mention CUTE??

My name is Kelleigh Ratzlaff and I live in Dallas, Oregon (affectionately called “little-D”), which is just west of Salem, the state capitol.  (I know there are a couple of gals in our digi-community from near Salem, and I’d love to meet up.  I just don’t want them to think I’m a stalker!)  My gorgeous husband (11.5 years), Mitch, and I have 2 seriously amazing little boys.  I mean, they are AWESOME.  Grant just finished kindergarten (and lost his first tooth!) and Cole just finished potty-training (WAHOO!).  I like to call them “my joy” and “my delight” respectively.  The funny thing is, they look NOTHING like me!  My two little blondies take after their father in every way, and that is just fine by me!  They are the reason I scrap, and they, along with their daddy, rock my world.  I get to be a stay-at-home mom, and I absolutely love it.

BLOG: Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs

That is such a complicated question!  I started “designing”, I guess, when Dianne Rigdon asked if anyone on her CT wanted to try their hand at creating clusters and quickpages.  That was my first little taste, and it was so much fun for me to see my name alongside hers.  But, that is not what you are asking, right?

I started “designing” when Kara Pierren opened up The Hybrid Shoppe.  She asked me to be on the CT, but I asked if I could create hybrid templates.  She was okay with that, so I made a couple of album templates.  I was already on the Hybrid Creative Team for The Digichick, and when (the previous owner) Kimberly Giarrusso said, “Wish we’d known about you first,” I immediately asked Kim if I could maybe come on as a guest some time.  Then, Kara wrote to me about closing down The Hybrid Shoppe, and the same day, Kim asked me to come on full time, so I said yes to Kim!  It’s crazy how God works!!  I’ve made The Digichick my home, and I just LOVE it there.

So, when and why did I REALLY start designing?  Probably when I created my Fancy Bag Template.  I am so proud of that template, and it continues to be one of my best sellers and one of my favorites.  I created it because I found a creative niche in the digital community as a hybrid gal, weazeled my way onto some great creative teams as a “hybrid CT member”, and I wanted to make my life a little easier!  As a result, I became a “real designer” (and I use that term loosely because I have no idea how to do the cool stuff kit-makers do!) creating hybrid templates.

Whew!  And THAT is why my husband is thankful that I have a blog.  Because I’m a bit of a rambler . . . .

I opened up my store at The Digichick in October 2008.  It is (in my humble opinion) the creative center of the universe for anyone interested in hybrid scrapping.  After all, we have a hybrid creative team, a hybrid forum, and a blog devoted to hybrid inspiration, tutorials and product giveaways called The Hybrid Chick!  Couple that with some AMAZING digital products created by well-known and up-and-coming digital designers, and you can’t lose!  It is such an amazing, supportive place to be a designer.  The owner, Nicole Seitler (Sugarplum Paperie) gets ALL the credit!

Both!  I started out as a paper scrapper in 2003, after the birth of my first son.  I discovered digital in October 2007 (thanks to Jessica Sprague!), and have been slowly feeling more and more confident creating hybrid layouts (thanks, again, to Jessica Sprague!).  I don’t scrap as often as I would like, but I try to stay reasonably current.  I teach paper scrapbooking classes, am on a couple of digital creative teams (Dianne Rigdon, Jen Wilson and Vera Lim’s release team), and write for my own blog, The Hybrid Chick blog, The DST Insider (as Editor-In-Chief) and Bella Scraps Magazine.  With all of that going on, I am bound to get my own projects done!  My busy schedule sort of “forces” me to record my life!

Too many.  Um . . . every waking moment?  Seriously, though, it is probably about 7 hours a day or so.  I do take mornings off to play outside of the house with the boys (to stave off the insanity), but my hours are pretty flexible.  As a SAHM, I’m quite the multi-tasking queen.  I can start the coffee, then hop on the puter to check my email .  I’ll start to download a kit for a tutorial, then run outside to squirt my kids with water guns while it finishes up.  I design while dinner is cooking.  My husband thinks I’m a little nuts, but I think he is just beginning to understand how much I love this!

Besides Fancy Bags?

I’m loving my new Sassy Purse line

And, this adorable cupcake

1 – My Joy, my Delight and my Rock.  My family means the world to me!  (Phillippians 1:15)
2 – A Dutch Bros. Annihilator (a little bit of heaven in a cup – my favorite coffee)
3 – Garage sale trash to treasures
4 – Decorating blogs
5 – When my scrap room is clean and organized
6 – My Mac and it’s HUGE screen
7 – My backyard on a cool summer morning.
8 – Going to my LSS.
9 – Going wine tasting.
10 – Playing board games with my family in the evenings.

1 – Weak coffee
2 – Parents who let their kids get away with obnoxious behavior.  (Please don’t set up that hidden camera in my house!)
3 – When well-meaning members of the older generation give potty-training advice.
4 – The crud that keeps showing up on my beautiful hardwood floors.  Why can’t they invent self-cleaning floors?
5 – Ditto that regarding the “could be pretty” laundry room that refuses to keep up.
6 – When my boys use their shirts as kleenex and napkins . . . after eating Doritos.  Hence the laundry room issues.
7 – The weird low-rise jeans phase.  Did I really want to see that?  Here’s your belt.
8 – When gmail goes down right in the middle of a fun chat . . . and we’re back!
9 – When the ink runs low on my printer.
10 – Whiners.  Who, me?  I’ll stop now.

And now what you have all been waiting for…more amazing templates by Kelleigh!  Warning: You WILL want to break out your printer and scissors and get started!

Aren’t they all so FUN??  I have so many ideas spinning through my head! Good thing summer is coming up and I have lots of time to be crafty!  Look at all the things you can make!

Thank you, Kelleigh, for being a part of THE DAILY DIGI this month!  Your unique contribution to the digi world is amazing and we hope that you continue to grow your business and find all the happiness and creative success you deserve!

Kelleigh’s birthday is this month and to celebrate she is offering a faulous coupon for our readers all month long!

May is coming to end and so our our Sponsor Spotlights!  It has been so good to get to all of these great designers more.  Their creativity and talent inspires me on a daily basis.  And our final Sponsor Spotlight is no exception.  Today, we have the honor of spotlighting a great digi store — Scrap Orchard!  It is fun-filled with store with lots of great products, layouts, and more!  Scrap Orchard is one of my favorite stores to visit just because it is a happy place!  I love looking at the site design itself!  Isn’t is just so cute??

Before we get to take a peek inside the store, let’s see what the designers came up with for THE DIGI FILES 4!  They put together such a fun and happy kit!

And here is a page I made with it!  I love how it turned out!

Scrap Orchard was the brain child and creation of it’s three owners: Kami Leonard (of Ziggle Designs), Melissa Nishi (of Pixel Geek Designs) and Shauna Burke-Smith (of Pineapple Plantation Designs).  All three of us came from another store, and after leaving decided that they’d give a go at opening a store of our own!  From the beginning we wanted to create a store where we could showcase high quality designs from a wide range of designer styles.  Starting small, over the past year we’ve seen our “little orchard” grow into a full and fabulous place to shop, hang out and chat or to post digital layouts! We have a wide range of challenges throughout the month and we’ve been known to post some pretty great layouts in our Freebie Gallery too!

Scrap Orchard also has a really cool MYSTERY MEGA. It is  released each month in a grab bag format and contains both personal use and commercial use items.  It’s usually around 35.00 worth of products for only 3.00 before the reveal!  Check out their past megas!

And now for some great products! (All images are linked)

The store is jammed packed with all sorts of things including their mega kits, blinkie services, commercial use products, blog packs, and MORE!  And once you have shopped till you dropped, look what you can make:

Thanks to all the designers at Scrap Orchard for being with us here at THE DAILY DIGI this month!  It has bene fun looking at and playing with all your fun products!

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT: Kristin Cronin-Barrow

Spot Lit Wall

It’s another SPOTLIGHT day and today we get the privilege of spotlighting an amazing designer — Kristin Cronin-Barrow (often just called Kristin CB).  I love Kristin’s designs! She is one of those designers that has always been very talented and once she found her niche in the designing world — at Sweet Shoppe Designs — she has just grown by leaps and bounds.  She is comfortable in her style and she puts out the most darling kids.  Her gorgeous color palettes always jump right out at my on Saturdays when I browse through the SSD new products section.  I am excited to share Kristin’s work with you.  Just look what she created for THE DIGI FILES 4!

It’s it just SO pretty?  I love the pinks and blues mixed with the browns and tan. LOVE it.  Here is a page I made using it:

You can get this awesome kit and a ton more stuff in THE DIGI FILES 4…available for just a few more days!

My name is Kristin Cronin-Barrow. I live in Southeastern BC, Canada in a very small mountain town! I just love it here, I am not a city girl! I have been married almost 8 years to Darcy and we have two children. Lily is 6 and Lucas is 14 months. I have been doing digital scrapbooking since may of 2003 and haven’t looked back!  I had previous experience with photoshop in Illustrator from work in a printing shop as well as from college where I did an art certificate program.

I found digital scrapbooking really early, before the shops opened up. Many of us were already designing since often you would create what you wanted when scrapping a layout so for me designing sort of just happened, it was pretty easy to just decide to give it a shot. I did stop designing for around 6 months but learned that it was too hard for me to sit and watch everyone else design so started back up again. I have been at sweet shoppe since the end of 07 and I am over the moon happy there – its hard to believe sometimes that I really am there!

I began designing in the fall of 2004 and my first store was at scrapbook-bytes.

am both. I don’t scrap nearly as frequently as I would like to. Since having my baby boy last year time has definitely been split with how much time I have to work and scrap. When I do scrap its almost always with templates – I’m a HUGE template lover and its about the only way these days that I am able to manage getting a page done.

Way too many.. I don’t want to think about that! LOL

I have a couple favorites:

CHERRY SWEET: This one is pretty recent, I had so much fun making it and I love how it turned out

LITTLE SAILOR: It is not all that often I do a boy kit so this was definitely a nice change and I had lots of fun making it.

Back to 2003 I decided to create a web page to share pictures with my friends and relatives in Brazil and found very cute mouse made graphics to decorate it. I fell in love with all the creatures and decided to try my hand at designing. I opened my mouse-made graphics store “Baers Garten Graphics” early 2004 and created a line of characters that I dressed for all of the seasons and occasions in the websites I created. I found digital scrapbooking in early 2005 when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter and since the very beginning I started designing papers/elements to use in my layouts and also incorporating digital elements to my paper layouts.

I decided to put a complete kit together for a designer call from Sweet Shoppe Designs in May 2007. I was not picked but I believed my kit was good and decided to show it to a designer I was CTM, Amanda Rockwell. She liked the kit and showed it to Joedee, the former owner of Elemental Scraps, who invited my to sell my designs there. I was at ES until November 2007, when I moved to Scrapbook Graphics. I love SBG and the studio girls and can not imagine moving to any other store! It is my home on the web!

I am both. I am a very passionate paper, digi and hybrid scrapper. My greatest love are mini albums. I always scrap and design quick pages with my kits before I upload them to the store, I love to see the pages I created with my own products.

*Note from Janet:  You should really check out her hybrid blog…so many REALLY cool projects like this one:

I’d say a way to much time LOL I spend every free minute I get designing or scrapping. I have a very supportive husband who takes care of the kids when he arrives home and very sweet kids, my oldest daughter, who is 3 yo, loves scrapping with me.

I’d say my most fav is the Modern baby Collection (I specially love the mix of kraft and the bright colors – did I mention that I do not like pastels? LOL!)

And recently the Spring Song Collection, specially the Walking on Sunshine elements pack

My best sellers are the Last Christmas Kit and  Here Comes the Sun kit

Now that we have learned a little about Iara, let’s see some more of her designs!  I love the way that she gives her customers so many choices: You can buy an entire collection together or you can buy just the pieces that you want.  She sells patterned papers, solid papers, elements, quick pages, and more all in separate pieces.  I LOVE that.  I am solid paper lover so someone that lets me buy a gorgeous palette all by itself wins my vote!

As you look at these, remember, almost all of them are part of a larger collection. Grab the pieces you love! (all images are clickable)

And now some layouts with her beautiful designs! (all images are linked for full credits)

Thank you so much, Iara, for being with us here at THE DAILY DIGI.  Your designs are fun, fresh and oh-so-cute!

As a thank you to THE DAILY DIGI readers, Iara has a special coupon for us!
