We have a lovely dog who showed up to our front gate one day and became part of the family. We are a bunch of artsy. I love the main photo. I know it’s a simple and not professional photo, but I think it represents how we amaze each other and how we are such good friends. It is also important for me because it is one of my newest favorite kits. Besides that, the journaling is about how we became even more connected as a couple through the years. These photos were taken 7 years ago.

I first started out in traditional scrapping and then discovered the digital version of the art 3 years later. I fell in love with it because it’s more practical, easier and much cheaper! Over time and after learning new and exciting techniques I started designing my own patterns and elements and offered a few freebies in my blog. After that, friends encouraged me to apply to a digiscrap shop and then I was a digiscrap designer officially. I am having the time of my life creating digiscrap designs since then.

inspired

I always start by the theme/idea and a name. This sets the mood and flow of creation for me. Something that inspires me a lot is music. Sometimes I get an idea from a song and sometimes I need to listen to certain kind of music that match the theme of the kit or collection to get the creation flowing.

tools

Computer: I know it will sound like I’m old, but I cannot lie. I’m such a fool concerning technology. I cannot even answer this question. I have an old desktop computer, that’s all I can say.

Program: Photoshop CS3 and Illustrator CS3 sometimes.

Camera: I use my cell phone.

Anything Else: no.

tipstricks

My tip is for Creative Team Members, actually. Don’t think quantity, but quality. Designers are looking for people who are committed to help them grow their business. I see CTMs in so many teams and not doing what they can do best and sometimes not even enjoying it because it’s too much. It’s sad.

favorite

I love music and it is a great source of inspiration for me, then I decided to open a file in my CT group so they could add their favorite songs. Don’t You Cry was inspired by one of the songs from the list. That’s why i really like it.

Happy Place was first a daily download freebie at the store. I also released a pack of artsy papers, a pack of flowers and a pack of elements as add-ons and they were also very popular. People who missed the freebie period, bought it later. I think it’s popular because it has anything someone needs to scrap about ther home and family. Everyone has memories to keep from their homes, families, moving, etc…

This Is December

DesignerLogo

This Is December, part of this month’s Digi Files, was designed for those who want to document their December. But it can be used for so much more! Check out what our team members created with this kit.

SharonS:

I love to make mini albums and have made one every year at Christmas for the past several years. This is the first one I’ve made digitally but it won’t be my last. For this album, I’ve used pictures from last year as space savers until it’s time to get this year’s pictures in there. I saved an original document at 6 x 6” because that’s the size I want my album to be. From there I used the place tool for almost every layer, which resized the papers to fit my document. To use the photo templates, I simply opened them and dragged the layers into my document. As I completed the layers for each page, I did a “Save As” and saved it with a page number or title. Therefore, all the layers are still in my original document so I can reuse them as needed. I’ll continue making pages until I’ve included all the pictures and elements I want to use. When I get ready to print, in all likelihood, I’ll lay out my pages just as I have here, in a 12 x 12” document and then just cut them apart. I’ll glue the pages together and bind them with binding rings.

LO1

Layout by Sharon. Supplies: This December by Janet Phillips; Font: Second Breakfast.

LulyG

I know this month will be super busy due to work commitments, but I love the idea of daily documenting as a way to truly enjoy this very special time of year. I chose the 6×8 templates in Becky Higgins Project Life app. I have pre-populated all the templates for each day and left a blank space for journaling. I will use the photo templates as filler pages where I have more than 1 photo I want to use. I will print out as part of my regular Project Life Shutterfly book and trim the sides within my book. Love how Digi gives you so many options

LO2

LO2

LO2

Sula

I’ve been creating December albums for years now, and love the memories I’ve been able to capture with them. To make the process easier, I’ve actually created a foundation page template (with various options that I made available for download on my blog), which I can now modify to use every year I decide to do a digital version. If you have a foundation page template, you don’t have to rethink every page you create and you can actually have more time making memories than working on your album. Using different Christmas kits helps creating variety. Or, if you prefer to use only one product for the entire album, you can still keep things from getting too boring by the way you vary your pages. You can create your own foundation page, and there are lots of designers out there who offer album templates and sets now that help you focus on the season, rather than being bogged down with the album you’re trying to create.

LO3

Layout by Sula. Supplies: This December by Janet Phillips.

Bethany

I love using my digi supplies to enhance my Christmas cards. It’s so much fun to add that personal touch and create a unique card each year. Maybe this year I’ll go the next step and actually send them out!

LO4

Layout by Bethany. Supplies: This December by Janet Phillips.

Wendy

Since silver and gold can sometimes be hard to replicate in printing, I often opt for a glitter style instead. Glitter styles can give that metallic illusion in a way that a flat color cannot.

Are you documenting December this year? We’d love to see your December project!

Name

Hello my name is Lina Dragani and I live in Greece! In one of the most beautiful countries in the world! I am married to my high school sweetheart for 18 years and we have 2 beautiful children ,Konstantina who is 10 and John who is 7. They can certainly drive me crazy as they are both very active children!

ok now my personal story about LDrag Designs is that I found out scrapbooking completely by accident as I was looking through the internet to find tools for making my dd’s photo album!!!! In Greece scrapbooking is something really unknown!!! Most people say “what?” when I tell them what I am making!!!!!

Anyway my journey in this industry has been long and after a few places I can finally be found at The Digichick! I am really happy here and my boss Kim is the best!!!! We all love her and she makes this place feel like home to all of us!!!

That day was really special! It was in Thessaloniki the after my little brother’s wedding! It was a great day for the whole family to gather together, have fun and visit the White Tower which is Thessaloniki’s landmark for the first time with my kids!!!! The fall colours were totally amazing as you see in the pictures!

DesignerLO

started

I started paper scrapbooking in 2008. Here in Greece scrapbooking is a real unknown craft! So basically I was playing with scissors and punches. So in my effort to look for special instruments for scrapbooking which I didn’t know then that it was called this way I found digital scrapbooking! I started at first being a scrapooker, then a ct member at a site that no longer exists Scrapmatters and then I decided that I wanted to try making my own designs! So since May 2008 I becase a designer at ScrapMatters! I can’t believe that it’s been 8 years that I am doing this work! But of course you can see it in how my designs have matured and now they look much more the way I imagined them to be!

inspired

I have said this again but what really inspires me are colours! Greece is really full of them and that is why I love my kits to strike out and choose vibrant colours! Pinterest is a great place for inspiration!!!!

tools

Computer: I use windows environment with a Pentium Dual Core CPU at 3.00GHz,
4 GB RAM and 64-bit operating system

Program: I use Photoshop 5, Panstoria and Artrage!

Camera: I have various cameras but my best is a Nikon D300s

Anything Else: I also have a wacom pen and touch table which I use when I want to work on detailed elements!

tipstricks

I love scraping my own photos and that is why many times I try to make kits that I need for them! So one tip I have for my layouts is that I love for the photos to strike out on the page and that is why we should never put too many ellies on the page! This way the photo will be able to strike out and the ellies need to be in moderation! This is a principle I follow in everything I do including my clustering! In order for the elements to be able to shine you need to rememeber this!

This was a Frozen inspired kit! I really love these colours and I wanted to create something really frosty and icy and merry!

layout

I just loved this chapter in our design story. Tabatha and I were playing more with muted pastels and it was trendy without being too much, you know? I never want what we create to look dated. I created this layout in a matter of 20 minutes, and when the layouts create themselves, it’s a win.

DesignerLO

SUPPLIES: Hello Sunshine by Bella Gypsy

started

Tabatha started designing before Lena did, but just barely–she had been scrapping for a few months and began tinkering and designing about 2 months before Bella Gypsy was born. She was still a brand new designer when Lena got interested as well and they worked together to create a brand for the both of them to love and create with. Lena learned to design by watching Tabatha, and it was actually a few months before she ever created her first layout.

inspired

Is it hokey to say Instagram? It’s my favorite social media platform, and it’s filled with beautiful things. When I open the app and see gorgeous landscapes, cute kids, and other photos, it makes me want to make kits to go with them!

tools

Computer: Tab is working on a custom built desktop with a solid state HD plus a 2TB HD, 16 gigs of ram. Lena’s working on an HP desktop with a 1TBHD and 8 gigs of RAM.

Program: They both use Adobe Creative Cloud and design in Photoshop and Illustrator.

Camera: They have the same type of camera and primary lens–Canon Rebel T2 with 50 mm 1.4 lens, but Tabatha also uses a 35mm lens sometimes so she can catch her larger group of kids in the shot! Honestly though….iPhone most of the time for both of them.

Anything Else: Lena uses a Wacom Intuos tablet.

tipstricks

If you’re in a scrapping rut, pick up a glossy magazine! On anything. I get a ton of magazine subscriptions and when I’m feeling uninspired I flip through them. A graphic headline, gorgeous colors in a decorating spread, you name it. Something about the tactility meets creativity just does it for me.

favorite

I went on a bit of a food bender this year. For a bit I just did kits about food. Fries Before Guys, Sous Chef, and Ice Cream Dream. I was on a roll, and don’t even ask about the upcoming food kits I have planned.

Fries Before Guys is just so *us*. It’s a bit irreverent, a bit silly, and fun. And yes, oddly specific. But let’s face it–most of us have Happy Meal pics somewhere. I had a blast creating it. And the ketchup & mustard alphas took me forever so it was a labor of love.

DesFav

This was one of our most popular bundles this year and you already know why. It’s silly, and funny, and relatable. Imperfect people unite! I remember seeing a pop of black in a painting while walking down the hall at the hospital of all places. I knew I had to create something like it soon. And then the meh-ness of the funk I had been in collided with the palette inspiration and the final product made me happy.

I love the way the photo treatment turned out and wanted to scrap just my cat’s eyes. I thought it would be cool. I am in love with the way that particular kit turned out and scrapped several pages with it, but this one is my favorite out of them all.

DesignerLO

started

I started paper scrapping when I had my first kid 25 years ago. I let it all go after the second one was born and the first one was using all my supplies to cut his own hair, glue things to the fridge, color on the walls, etc. In 2003, I picked it back up again to document our lives while my husband was deployed overseas, but after child #3 cut her own hair with child #4’s help, I put it all away again. Somewhere around 2008 (maybe even earlier?), I discovered PSP and started making animated signature tags for people to use on forums & I stumbled across digiscrapping along the way. I fell in love immediately and started scrapping our photos again. I started with free kits and found that a lot of them didn’t have what I wanted or needed to finish my pages, so I began making my own elements & papers. In March of 2009, I was hired as a designer at Inspiration Lane and have been designing and scrapping ever since!

inspired

My photos, friends’ photos, requests, color palettes, you name it!

tools

Computer: I have a Lenovo desktop computer running Windows 10 64 bit, with 6GB RAM and 1TB storage. I only have one monitor connected, but would like to get at least 1 more hooked up – something for further down the road!
I also have a Lenovo laptop, also running on Windows 10 64 bit, with 4GB RAM and 1TB storage.

Program: I mostly use Photoshop CC, Illustrator CS4, and Lightroom, but I also have Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2, Photoshop Elements 13, and Artisan 4 at my disposal as well. It just depends on which computer I’m using. For online backup, I use (and highly recommend!) Backblaze.

Camera: I just use the camera on my Samsung Galaxy. I have a Nikon Coolpix camera, but it intimidates me (I know, it’s sad) and my Galaxy is always handy.

Anything Else: For drawing, I use a Wacom Bamboo tablet. It’s one of the cheaper, piddly models that is probably way out of date by now, LOL, but it serves its purpose. One day down the road, I hope to get an Intuos.

tipstricks

I don’t think I have a favorite tip or trick, lol. However, I will say that I have several tutorials on my blog and am adding to that category every month – feel free to check it out any time 🙂

Jen’s Tutorials

I also take tutorial requests, so if there’s something anyone is just dying to know, my email is open

favorite

I have several favorites in my store right now but this one stands out the most for me. It was a lot of fun to doodle for it and even more fun creating the collection – and it’s huge! I have a lot of photos of my kids at the aquarium, at the beach, at the water park, in the pool… no matter what state we found ourselves in, every summer we hit up the local attractions. I wanted a collection that fairly versatile for our summer happenings and could use over and over again.

started

I started as a digital scrapper in 2009 when I was trying to find something to decorate my son´s first birthday album. I got addicted right away. Of course my layouts were terrible at the beginning but I didn’t give up. I kept trying and trying until I found my style. After that I started posting my pages to the galleries and also sending applications to some of my favorite designers’s teams. I scrapped for about 2 years before I started designing. At that time I thought to myself, why not try designing my own kits? I know how to play with Photoshop and Illustrator because in fact these are the tools I work with everyday (at that time I worked as an Art Director and graphic designer at my husband’s agency). I feel so glad that I wasn’t afraid of trying because now I really enjoy what I do for living. Designing is one of my passions in life. Specially when I am working with fonts and word arts.

favorite

I don’t really have a favourite right now but if I had to pick just one I would say, A Little Peculiar – kit. I was inspired by the book Miss Peregrine’s home for peculiar children to create this kit. It gave me lots of inspiration, specially to design the elements and pick up the colors.

layout

My children inspire me. They are our greatest accomplishment and though I don’t get to scrap often, so instead of trying to document every memory, I like to document who they are in that moment. To capture the essence of their individual beauty. This particular page, she looks so much like her dad and as it says, she’s a strong & determined individual.

DesignerLO

started

I got started in design 7 years ago when looking to learn Photoshop for another project. I accidentally stumbled upon digital scrapbooking and was hooked immediately. Within 6 months, I was designing.

inspired

My family first and foremost inspires me. Additionally I love looking at fabric and surface pattern design trends when thinking about the direction I want to go with a particular design idea.

tools

Computer: I design on an MSI Apache Gaming computer. I love it because it is able to support having Photoshop and Illustrator open together seamlessly.

Program: Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, and Filter Forge.

Camera: Canon Rebel T5 with multiple lenses

Anything Else: I design on an Intuos Pro tablet, because I really love digitally painting.

tipstricks

The tip I always share is to get in the pictures! When you are gone, that is all that is left for your family and they won’t care what your hair looked like or what you weighed. I personally do not love having my photo taken, but I try to make sure I get into pictures with my family so we can all look back and see us all together.

favorite

I love this product because it’s dreamy and exactly how I feel about my love,

This kit was out of my comfort zone, less sparkle and pink and more rugged and natural. It has been one of my best selling products since it’s creation.

Name

I’m Berna Datema. I live near Amsterdam in The Netherlands. I am mother of two nearly grown ups, a girl and a boy and I am married to Harry who works nearby and studied in America. I started my carreer as a fashion and art work designer, making patterns and placed prints for all kind of companies and all kind of target groups on a freelance base. I also illustrated picture books and now I already design digital scrapbooking stuff for over a decade.
My favorite hobbies are writing and painting, traveling and visiting great places. I have a list for everything and love to cook and eat 🙂 My favorite beverage is coffee and persian tea.

layout

I have many fun projects at the moment, but when there is time I always love to make more of the Selfie Portraits as this one. I wanted to make 30 portraits in 30 days, but I was a litte optimistic about how much time I had for it. So now I have slowed it down and every now and then I make a new selfie and from that a new digital portrait. In this one you can easily see the collection I used for it. It’s called breakfast in America. If you want to see and red more about it, it’s all on my website at
www.bernadatema.com

and if you go to the tab Illustrations, you can see them all at the same time.

DesignerLO

started

I started scrapbooking in 2005 and made a few paper albums before I realized that I could design them myself, these papers and elements. I am a pattern an art work designer and in fashion I did the same for years. I bought Photoshop and learned quickly how to design with the program. It was easy for me, because I already worked with programs that were a lot mor complicated. I made my first scrapbook collection a year after I started with paper scrapbooking and I loved to do it. My children were still young and I became a SAHM and digital scrapbook designer.

inspired

Common things, daily life, pets, food, house, garden, traveling, flowers, birds, lands, folks, it can be everything. I am also very inspired by old arts and crafts. I go to the museum. Any museum will do, but my all time favorite is the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam with the old masterpieces made in the Golden Age. I especially like that museum for their ability to show stuff in temporary exhibitions like fashion or food or just a specific artist. It never stops inspiring me. I also love to be inspired in bookshops and in magazines for living and houses.

tools

Computer: I have a Windows PC and and Adobe Creative Suite subscription which I totally love. My PC is custom made and I choose for a RAM memory of 8GB and 64 bits processor, because I want to work with every program opened at the same time. I really don’t know how the PC works, but I knew what I wanted nd needed and asked for the best options at that time. Now I have this PC 3 years and I still enjoy it very much. I only close Facebook and Instagram while working, but that is because I am distracted easily, LOL.

My biggest treasure however is my Wacom Cintiq, that makes it possible to do more with my drawings and paintings. I can work very precisely with it and it’s very direct and is like a big iPad where I work on with a pen.

My biggest wish is a Cintiq Companion, so I can design in the woods, in the city, in the Zoo or in my favorite coffe shop.

Program: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.

I use Wix for my website because it is easier and I use MailChimp for my newsletters.

Camera: I dont’ have a camera anymore. It broke, but since I don’t scrap much myself, my Huawei P8 does enough for me. I nearly never distract stuff for my collections, I paint and draw instead. So I don’t need a camera for my designs. Still I think about buying one in the future.

Anything Else: Yes, that’s my iPad on which I sketch with Adobe. It’s fun when I am away from home. I just sketch with my fingers and send it to my PC when I’m finished.

tipstricks

Not aIl my collections contain quick pages, but when I make them, I always like to make double quick pages of 24 x12″. By combining two of the same backgrounds, mirrored and one single paper in a different pattern to cover the middle of this spread, I sometimes even succeed to make it possible to use it also in a reversed way where left and right can be changed. If you have backgrounds and you want to make an album, this is a simple way to do a lot with your papers and make it into a perfectly matching album.

favorite

It’s hard to think about what my own favorite product is, because I made them all and they become like my children. But I decided to choose for We Travel, because it’s so typical me: I love traveling and the colors are bright and the items are all hand drawn like I do that. I must say, the collection Coming Home is also my favorite, because I just made it and it has the feel and the warmth that I love and it’s got one of my favorite topics in it: home decor.

I think that it works. That people indeed buy your joy. I think it shows when someone designs just what they really like to design. I came up with We Travel as my favorite collection and guess what? It’s the bestseller of the year!
