big Big BIG News x2

BIG NEWS #1

It’s been in the works for a couple of months, but this past Tuesday, I was able to join the discussion on Paperclipping Roundtable!!  I LOVE this podcast and have listened to each episode at least twice since the beginning.  It was absolutely thrilling for me to be invited and to join in on scrapbooking topics with Noell, Izzy, Nancy, and Stacy.

“Heart on Fire, Brain on Ice” is the title of episode 12.  If you would like to listen to the whole show, the best way to do that is through itunes.  You do not have to have an ipod, iphone, or itouch in order to listen to the show in itunes, you can still listen on your computer (watch a video tutorial on how to do this if you don’t know how).  By listening through itunes, you will help increase the ratings of The Roundtable, which will help them get sponsors and I want to see this show continue (and I know you will too once you listen)!!

BackStage

I was pretty quiet during the listeners mail, not because I didn’t have anything to say (I ALWAYS have something to say…lol) but because I felt the others probably had much more to say than me.  I am sad to see what has happened to CK, I bought the very first issue when it came out, from my LSS (local scrapbook store).  I subscribed to the mag. for YEARS.  We went through a lot together, that magazine and I, and it’s hard to see an old friend going through hard times.  I can’t be mad or upset at anyone about it…just sad.

I wanted to share the story behind the quote:
I was at my daughter’s choir concert on Monday night and it was a different concert because they were getting ready for a competition.  The choir instructor invited the high school choir director to come and give his input after the kids performed.  So after they were done singing there songs, the high school director got up and had them change a few things and do some parts of the songs differently.  He really is an amazing teacher and has quite a reputation in the community, but as he was working with the kids, he said, “You need to just sing with your heart and not worry what you look like and what people are thinking.  Repeat after me….heart on fire (kids repeated, heart on fire), brain on ice (kids repeated, brain on ice).”  When I heard that, it was as if the hallelujah chorus went off inside my head because I KNEW that’s what we need to do as scrapbookers!  Just create with our HEARTS and not worry so much about how it looks or what other people are thinking!!

If you want to hear more and find out how that became the title of the show, you MUST listen!

One last backstage fact, within two hours of recording this episode, my voice was almost gone!  It is now completely gone as I write this! Soooo glad I didn’t have any problems during the episode!

I would LOVE it if you would listen to this episode of The Roundtable and come back and let me know what you think!!

BIG NEWS #2

This is another BIG thing that has been in the works for a few months!  I am sooo excited to share it with all of you…..

TDDiphone1

That’s right!  THE DAILY DIGI now has it’s very own FREE iphone app!!  THE DAILY DIGI app is the first dynamic informational based app in digital scrapbooking and is the first comprehensive dynamic informational scrapbooking app in the itunes store!  This app should be available in almost every country’s itunes store.

Now, for those of you that have other brands of smart phones, don’t feel left out!  We are hoping to have apps for other platforms available as well, very soon!  We also already have our techs and engineers working on some upgrades and changes to this initial release of our iphone app.

TDDiphone2

That is what you will see when you touch “The Daily” tab, all of our posts.  You can touch each post to read all of it.

TDDiphone3

When you touch the TDD Tweets tab, you will be able to see all of THE DAILY DIGI tweets.  You can also retweet from within the app.

TDDiphone4

The app has an in app sharing feature, where you can email, or tweet about any of the information found in the app.

TDDiphone5

The “Art Inspiration” tab are the layouts from our Flickr group.  To help inspire and give you ideas!

TDDiphone6

You can tap the layouts to take a closer look!

TDDiphone7

The resources tab is a mashup of some of our favorite Photoshop, Lightroom, photography, digital scrapbooking, scrapbooking, and even a couple of craft sites.

TDDiphone9

For those blogs that have a partial feed, you will need to tap, view in browser, to open the post in the in app browser.

TDDiphone10

The last tab is the “TDF Inspiration” tab.  That is where you will find all of the layouts created from designers’ contributions to THE DIGI FILES.  Stay tuned for an announcement on April 1st on how you can contribute to the TDF Inspiration!

This app has drag-down refresh, but it is also accessable offline, just update and go (think about great reading material when you aren’t online: plane, train, boat, car)

And that Digi Files ad at the bottom?  It’s just a friendly reminder for you to show your support and pick your TDF up each month!

We want to hear from YOU!

We would love to hear what apps (any smartphone)  and podcasts are your favorites!  We set up a survey for you to share your faves for an upcoming post!  You can find the survey for apps here and your favorite podcasts here.

P.S. Kimb is the winner of the random drawing for $10 product at Mscraps, watch your email! Here’s what she said:  “Talk about feeling like a kid in a candy store..Oh my word there are some really fine products in MSCRAPS’s store but if I had to pick one to shout out about it would be “Hello” by Vesi Designs. I LOVE that cute little telephone, the sweet polk a dot elephants and gorgeous bg papers. Definitely on my MSCRAPS wish list.”

P.S.S. Remember our lightroom post from last month? I (Katie) know that many of you downloaded the beta version to try out so I wanted to keep you up to date on what is happening with that. There is now a new beta version available to download so be sure to grab that. You may have also received this message from Adobe:

Thank you for participating in the Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 3 beta. Based on your feedback from the initial Lightroom 3 beta release, an update is now available — Lightroom 3 beta 2. This release includes new features and is available in 12 languages. Please note that your current version will expire on April 30, 2010 — and you will have to download the updated version to continue using the beta product. We value and appreciate your continued support of Lightroom and look forward to your feedback about this latest update.

The NEW beta download says “When you install Lightroom 3 beta 2, the software will remain active through June 2010. Once the commercial version of Lightroom 3 has shipped, you will need to uninstall the beta and install the final version.”

Several of you have asked “what will happen after that date? Will we still be able to use it for free?” and I have to admit that I’m not really sure. This is my first time beta testing a product like this as well. There may be another beta release or the final product of Lightroom 3 may become available by then. Either way, you can count on us here at The Daily Digi to keep you up to date and help you with the transition. I plan to purchase Lightroom 3 when it becomes available because beta testing the current version has taught me that I just love what Lightroom does for my pictures!

I so enjoyed listening to Paperclipping Roundtable. I love the podcast (I have been listening since the 1st episode) and it was so nice to get to hear your voice! I thought the topics were very relevant and the CK discussion was one that I would have loved to join in on. That is the only thing with the podcast is that I can’t join in!:) Seriously, wonderful job! I hope you will be on again soon.

I also want to thank you for your Un-Digi Couponing post, I read that and little did I know that I was going to acquire a whole new skill set and save TONS of money. Many thanks for introducing me to the great sites you frequent. You have no idea how many lives/budgets you changed with that post.
