I am Steph, (a.k.a islandmom, Fontologie, and one half of Stephanie2). I am first, (and most importantly) a mom to 3 kiddies and a wife to my wonderfully supportive husband (who cleans and does laundry after his “day job” while I am working at TDD
). When I am not scrapbooking or working at TDD, I love to do anything that will create great memories for my kids, especially traveling, playing Rock Band, swimming, and going to movies).
I have been a scrapbooker almost my whole life. I made my first scrapbook page in my journal when I was about 9 or 10 with some masking tape and football ticket stubs from a game that one of my favorite cousins had taken me to. I learned all about “archival” scrapbooking in 1994, but even then used a lot of computer clipart on my layouts. I created one layout in PowerPoint with different clipart images and then glued photos into some of the shadow box squares on the printed clipart. Little did I know then that I was a hybrid scrapper! I taught basic scrapbooking in several different scrapbooking and craft stores 1997-1998.
I started scrapbooking on my computer in full in 2003, but didn’t discover digital scrapbooking communities and all they have to offer until 2004, after reading a special issue of Memory Makers Magazine. I truly love this hobby and have found so much joy in preserving my family’s memories digitally. I have been honored to serve on creative teams for Michelle Coleman, Nancie Rowe Janitz, ScrapArtist, Hollie McCaig, Gina Cabrera of Digital Design Essentials, Dani Mogstad, Janet Phillips, and Shabby Princess. I have also had layouts and hybrid projects published by Simple Scrapbooks and Digital Scrapbooking Magazines. In 2007, I started my own font business called Fontologie (sold in the store here at TDD).
In the fall of 2008, my heart was telling me that I needed to find a way to share what I know about digital scrapbooking. It was something that was hard to describe! Janet emailed me one day and told me about her plans to start a new site called The Daily Digi. I told her about my desires to share what I know and a partnership was born, it just made sense. Our talents and abilities balanced each other very well. We launched The Daily Digi on January 1, 2009 and loved working together and building this site every minute.
In the fall of 2009, I kept thinking, “What if Janet decides to leave TDD? Would I want to keep going?” So shortly after that, when Janet emailed me to tell me that she needed to step away from THIS baby to take care of her REAL babies, I already had thought things through and had a plan in mind.
I am so excited to be moving forward with this site that Janet and I both put our hearts into for a whole year! The initial goals and vision of the site will remain the same:
- bring the best in digital scrapbooking information to our readers in a daily digestible dose.
- help our readers save time by being able to rely on us as a source of information
- help our readers spend more time MAKING MEMORIES with the ones they love AND spend less time surfing to find the information they need to scrap those memories.
- fund the site without advertising by providing a quality collection of digital scrapbooking products each month from different designers that our readers can purchase at a low price
- the low price of the collection will allow our readers to try new-to-them designers’ products with low to no risk
- promote designers that have quality products and ethics
- remain ad free in every way- no designers pay for feature spots or to be a contributor to The Digi Files.
I hope you feel at home while you are at THE DAILY DIGI!! If there is something you would like to see, please send us an email from the “contact us” button on the homepage!
