Name

Hello everyone I’m so happy to be featured here at The Daily Digi. My name is Wendy but around digi-land I’m best known as Wendyp of WewndyP Designs. I’m a stay at home mom to 2 girls and 1 boy ages 3, 9 and 8. Together with hubby we live in the beautiful and small Netherlands. I’m a romantic person who can drift away a lot with music and i’m madly in love with colors which can be a good combination. I promised my daughter to make a Peter Pan inspired collections since she is a huge fan of peter. Another fun thing is that I adore Peter Pan myself as well as well my mother which is the reason she gave me the name Wendy.

3 years ago I discovered project life, since than I’m in love with it. I love to scrap the everyday life moments and the small things life is giving us, and this is what made me finish 2 full albums already. It happens often I use my own collections for this albums. My latest project was our visit to a Dutch Palace which is a museum as well.

I first started as a paper scrapper in 2007 when my first daughter was born. In 2008 when my son was born I saw some other scrap methods at some of my friend’s sites, and that’s where I discovered digital scrapbooking, which is now my most favorite way to scrap.

inspired

I can be inspired by everything. colors, music, memories, and my kids. Mostly I create inspired by memories of my kids and what they are doing in their little lives.

tools

Computer: I have a custom-built pc with 16gb RAM & run Windows 10. Next to that I have a 24 inch monitor.

Program: For my scrapping and designing I use Photoshop CS5.

Camera: I have a Canon 1100D with a 15-88mm lens. And for some outdoors shots I use my iphone camera.

tipstricks

Be sure to have always a small camera with you. It can be your phone or just a small camera so you are always able to capture small, and unexpected important memories. Before I was always forgetting my phone so when there were moments I was so sad that I forgot. But now this year I don’t forget.

favorite

Explore Dinosaur is my favorite. Recently a small adventure park opened his doors here in our city, and it was all dinosaur themed. So when we went there it all inspired me to create this collection so I could scrap those awesome pictures I took. It is my favorite because of the 2 cute big dinosaurs inside.

popular

This was a hard one. Move your feet was very popular when it was released. It is a dancer collection at that time my daughter just started Jazz dance and I wanted to have something to scrap those memories. But I didn’t wanted it to be pink. So I choose some more alternative/adult colors. And I think that made it so popular – a dance collection that isn’t pink or ballet that can be used for all style dancers.

Name

I grew up in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, and wandered about the Jura and Alps until I decided to go to college in the United States, where my parents were from. After that, things got complicated, but now I live right in the middle of the Oregon Coast in a beautiful little village named Yachats (pronounced “yah-hots”) with my husband, my schooled-at-home son, an elderly cat, and two dogs.

layout

I had a real problem trying to figure out which part of my artistic life I should focus on, so I put them all together–although I totally left out digiscrapping! *laugh* I draw a lot, mostly in pen and alcohol inks; I write poetry and doodle in my art journal; I make jewelry and also make mini-beaded landscapes; I do a lot of photography; I mess around with fabric painting; and I make fonts (all available for free, to pay back the design community with helping me start out with free tools).

DesignerLO

started

I think I got started about 13 years ago, when I started designing Asian-themed rubber stamps after discovering an online group that was really artistically challenging. I was adjusting to leaving professional life full-time because my son had just been born, and was looking for things to keep my mind busy. Then a friend from that group started showing me these mini-albums she was making with digital images, and I started messing around with “making stuff.” Vinnie Pearce is the one who gave me my first real break into high end digital designing, though! I sold at her Pixel Canvas store, and made some lifelong digifriends through that.

inspired

Anything. Usually patterns or color, but it could be as mundane as a deadline, the season, or just itchy fingers… =) A lot of time I’ll be doodling and all of a sudden get ideas from that, too.

tools

Computer: I have an old (6 years?), hand-assembled computer (the computer store did the assembling, however). I run Windows 10 with 4 Gb of RAM, but I keep nothing except my actual programs on there–everything else, ALL my files, are on my 5 Tb EHD, which I mirror less frequently than I should on another couple of EHDs.

Program: I can’t stand to pay money for something I’m not going to own, so I’m using Adobe Creative Design Suite 5.5 and sticking with it. That includes Photoshop & Illustrator, which are my biggest graphic design tools, and Bridge, which I now use to sort my images. I use Main Type by High-Logic to preview and sort my fonts.

Camera: I have a Rebel T5i, and I just love the kit lens that came with it, the 18-55mm. I also have a 75-300mm, and a simple little fixed 100mm lens. They are all totally dirty with salt and sea air, alas!

Anything Else: I haven’t used a mouse in 13 years, ever since I got my trusty Wacom Intuos 3. It has completely saved my hands and wrists!

tipstricks

Gosh, there’s so much to be said, and it’s so different depending what level of skill you possess. At the base, though, I would say that keeping your files super-organized by designer & by kit is the most important, and tag each element as you get it! It’s a small price to pay for maintaining an ever-growing inventory. =) Artistically, the best tip I have is to play with blending modes such as overlay, color burn, hard light, etc. You can find some amazing effects that will make you want to play!

favorite

Today, this product is tickling my yummy-bone because it’s gray outside and the colors are cheering me up. =) (Tomorrow I’d probably pick a different one!) I love the fun, vibrant, clean feel to the kit. I was playing with the idea of a snapshot–just that tiny, frozen moment in time… a bright spot amongst hazy memories.

Right now one of my most popular products seems to be the Scribbles from my Lived In series. They’re full of brushy, grungy yumminess, and the contrast with the scribbly clean lines really adds visual interest.

I’ve met digital scrapbook surfing on the internet in 2007 and I’ve been designing for almost 8 years!

inspired

Nature, colors, pinterest… all the little things!

tools

Computer: An old laptop! Well, probably it is the same one from the first time I was featured here at TDD! That’s sad…

Program: PS & Ai basically!

Camera: I have no camera at the moment, mine has broken since a long time and I refuse to buy a new one if it’s not the ONE I want! I just scan my stuff for the kits. What about taking photos from life’s moments to scrap? err… smartphone! 😉

Anything Else: I use a samsung tablet or smartphone to do quick posts/ads, get inspiration from pinterest/instagram, scrap project life pages and everything else! 🙂

tipstricks

As always, I’m not good at giving tips or tricks… mainly because I always think my English is horrible and I’m terrible with words!
I’d just say follow your heart when you’re scrapping and everything else will come with time and experience!

favorite

Lazy Day is one of my favorites kits because it has a versatile color palette and probably because of the theme that is simply me some days! haha

DesFav

Little Brother is one of the most popular kits lately and I think it’s because of its theme and it also has those pops of wood that everybody loves and I love those colors too!

Gratitude Journal {week 50}

On Sundays this year at The Daily Digi, we are going to be sharing a FREE weekly gratitude journal spread.

These pages are a place for you to record little memories you don’t want to forget, little reasons to be grateful. Each week their will be a gratefulness quote as well as a few photo spots.

You can use these FREE pages in a number of ways:

1) As digital scrapbooking templates. The download will always include .psd files for both 2-page 12×12 spreads as well as 2-page 8.5×11 spreads. You can add your own papers and elements and scrap ’till your heart’s content! (This is also a good option for those of you who get twitchy because I started the week with Friday. Since January 1 is a Friday, I like to start each week that way, but you may not! Feel free to adjust as needed!

2) As a digital journal. Keep the colors and text just as they are. Simply flatten the layers and add your notes of gratitude. Easy peasy!

3) As printed pages. Print out and write on them the good old-fashioned way. There is a .pdf file included for printing two letter-sized pages. Print your photos and attach!

If you have missed previous weeks, grab them HERE.

_____

If you have used the templates or print-outs, we’d LOVE to see them! Share a link in the comments or EMAIL ME . We just might feature your page!

Be sure to be back next week for your next FREE journal template
