Art Play Noel

Anna Aspnes is with us again this month and we couldn’t be more pleased. Anna, a longtime pillar of the dig-scrapping community, is extraordinarily talented. I admire her even more because she has a style far from my own. I look at her artsy designs and I think, “Well maybe I can do that!”
Her gallery is so inspiring and I loved seeing the various ways her designs have been used. Her part of The Digi Files, ArtPlay MiniPalette Noel is just stunning. I know you will love getting in and getting your digital hands messy with all sorts of artsy goodness.

This is ONE of SEVEN collections you get when you become a member of
The Digi Game this month. You also get an interactive Playbook (in PDF and iBooks formats) that has lots of ideas for using the supplies including techniques, tips, and tricks! All of that, including access to exclusive collaborations every four months you are a member, for only $7.50 total per month! Here are some layouts created using Anna Aspnes Designs’ contribution:

Anna Aspnes creates DigitalART for people who want to create dynamic and effortless art.

Her passion is to help you commemorate and honor your life by helping you to flex your creative muscles in a way that is both unique and truly exhilarating.

Before she could walk, Anna spent endless hours at a coffee table intent on creating magic with a crayon in hand. Today, she shares this same magic at a different table by creating sophisticated contemporary DigitalART designed to be used by creatives and non-creatives alike.
Anna Aspnes offer digital art elements, mentorship and education support through more than a decade of experience in modern memory keeping and DigitalART creation.

She lives in Colorado with her husband, 2 children and dogs, enjoying the outdoors whenever possible.

This is one of my favorite childhood photos. An image of me at an early age outside my Grandparents home. Long spindly legs, hand knitted teal cardigan, the vintage motor vehicle, as well as my Grandma and Granddad watching me with great pride. This particular house was a constant throughout my childhood years as I lived a nomadic lifestyle within the British Armed Forces and later attended a boarding school. Every photo has a story and can be celebrated through art.

I began paper scrapbooking just after the birth of my first child in 2012, as a means of documenting the baby stages, but I never really found my groove with the scissors and glue approach. I happened upon my first digital layout with blended photos shortly thereafter, was instantly smitten by this ‘sport’ and have never looked back since. The endless creative possibilities of using Adobe Photoshop have kept me entertained and serving the artsy digital scrapbooking community for over 14 years, and it all started with a simple request to share my art.

I have always been a little different and I like it that way. I have never been one to follow the crowd and have also marched to the beat of my own drum. I’m driven by color, shapes and strong texture and am grateful to be able to share my passion with others (because I can neither sing nor dance.) It’s the biggest gift.

Computer: I work and create on a PC desktop, built and maintained by my husband, who is the tech guy around here. I couldn’t tell you what the specs are, other than it runs like a race horse, just the way I like it.

Program: I use Adobe Photoshop CC and Elements 14 for play, designing and teaching.

Camera: I mostly us my iPhone 6 for taking photos, but once in a while I pull out all stops and put my Canon 60D SLR to good use. My favorite lens are my 50mm 1.4 or 16-35mm 2.8 Wide Angle Lens.

Anything Else: I have a Wacom Intuous Photo which continues to work well for me. Less is often more having worked with a number of different tablets. I find a pen much more intuitive than a mouse when creating and recently taught a class about PenPLAY.

Embrace What Is. We always want to be better, do more, and in effect get to that place where we’re all brilliant artists. Stop it. Progress is a good goal to have, but not at the expense of enjoying the process. If you’re constantly looking ahead at what could/should be happening, you will miss the magic of what is happening in the current moment. You will bypass all the small adventures and discoveries along the way, and be frustrated rather than delighted by the small successes that contribute to your ultimate goal. Have patience, silence your inner critique and be confident in the artist you are now. You are entitled to create art and/or scrapbook your way. Focus on the journey and not just the destination.

So many products. So many favorites! Artsy Layered Templates and Albums make the creative process so easy, ArtPlay Palettes is where the magic lies, but who can live without FotoBlendz Clipping Masks, BrushSets, UrbanThreadz/Stitchez and FotoGlows. My favorite is usually what’s new in my stash 🙂

Digital scrapbookers and artists love my ArtPlay Palettes because they are simple to use but yield the desired artsy results through a little dragging, dropping and clipping. See this FREE 7 Ways to ArtPlay video using an ArtPlay Palette and download the complementary supplies on the homepage at

ArtPlay Palettes include a variety of artsy and solid papers, a 12-16 piece BrushSet, a collection of transfers and overlays, plus dimensional embellishments – Everything you need to make the magic happen. Each ArtPlay Palette is released with an Artsy Template, WordART set and 2 other co-ordinating digital products as part of the AnnaRelease.
