Today Is The Day {Dressed Up} and {Dressed Down}

Our very own Cheryl, more widely known as Fiddle Dee Designs, has inspired me again with her incredible templates. Today is the Day, part of this month’s Digi Files, is a template pack you won’t want to miss! My scrapping time is limited these days and I am more thankful than ever for templates…especially ones like this where all the hard work is done for me. My simple scrapper brain has trouble being creative these days and with these templates, I know i’ll be ready for pages my family will love.

This is ONE of SEVEN collections you get when you become a member of
The Digi Game this month. You also get an interactive Playbook (in PDF and iBooks formats) that has lots of ideas for using the supplies including techniques, tips, and tricks! All of that, including access to exclusive collaborations every four months you are a member, for only $7.50 total per month! Here are some layouts created using Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs’s contribution:

My name is Cheryl Ashcraft and I’m a native Floridian living in Northwest Florida on the Gulf Coast. My husband Jay and I have been married for twenty-two years ~ next month we celebrate our twenty-third anniversary! We have two children ~ Olivia just started her second year of college (she’s actually a junior, though, because she did dual enrollment in high school) and Daniel just started his first year of middle school. I love to take photographs of my family, and of course, I’m constantly scrapbooking those photos. I love to scrap! When I’m not taking pictures, scrapbooking, or designing templates, you’ll find me tending to my home. I love to decorate and keep a quiet and tranquil space for us to have as a retreat. I also love to organize . . . my home, my digital files, my photos! Don’t stand still around my house, because you might get labeled! Over the past couple of years, I’ve been exploring other sides of my artistry, so I’ve been doing more pen and ink drawings, and have started experimenting with watercolors. I love to read so you’ll usually find me on my phone or Kindle or with an old school book, and every once in a while I’ll still break out my cross stitching.

I took this selfie of me, my dad, and my sister at my dad’s birthday dinner. Daddy always get tickled when I tell him where to look on the phone display. Once he started laughing, we started laughing. I love this photo because it shows how our eyes all crinkle when we laugh, and our noses get all bunched up, too. The collection I chose to scrap with was perfect because of the theme and the bright colors. I definitely feel happy when I look at it, and I can’t help it, I still giggle every time I look at it!

I started paper scrapbooking in 1996 when I was pregnant with my daughter Olivia. My mother purchased an 8.5 x 11 album kit for me, and I made some really, ahem, unusual color and pattern choices in those first pages. I moved to the 12 x 12 layout size a couple of years after I started. I ended up switching to digital scrapbooking after I read a tutorial about doing a circular photo collage in PSE. I ordered PSE, followed the tutorial and was hooked. I loved being able to customize my photo sizes instead of having to rely on the standard 4 x 6 photos I always got from my photos. The tutorial ended up leading me to some digital scrapbooking websites that I started exploring. My son was very young at the time and into everything, so paper scrapbooking was a chore. I would have to bring everything out and then put it all back in one session. It had gotten to the point that I just didn’t want to scrapbook anymore. When I realized that I could use PSE to scrapbook, I was delighted! I started making digital layouts in August 2007. I started converting my layouts to templates in February 2010 at The Digichick and moved to Scrap Orchard in July 2011. When Scrap Orchard closed in December 2015, I moved to The Lilypad where I currently sell my templates. I love being able to “work” at something that is a hobby and a passion!

Everything inspires me to create. It’s cliche, I know, but honestly, sometimes it’s as simple as looking at my cat curled up on the sofa near my desk, and I get a warm fuzzy feeling, and I just want to make something! If my templates aren’t converted from my layouts, I’m inspired to create them by looking at ads, billboards, websites, architecture, etc. I currently love to watch YouTube videos of paper scrappers creating their layouts.

Computer: OS: Windows 10

Anything Else: None

I love sharing how to make custom shadows in Photoshop Elements. I have a YouTube tutorial on how to achieve customized shadows in PSE.

I also love to use Lightroom and there are some tutorials over at The Lilypad that will give scrapbookers some good information for editing as well as organization.

Some of my templates I’ve made are Stay Focused {Dressed Up} and Stay Focused {Dressed Down}. I love the die cut/paper pieced look of the cameras, as well as the instant print look to the photos.

My most popular templates right now are Wow. Just Wow. {Dressed Up} and Wow. Just Wow. {Dressed Down}. These are single photo templates, and on the {Dressed Up} version, there is a profusion of elements with loads of layering. The {Dressed Down} version is exactly that: dressed down. The same composition, but a cleaner, fresher look. I think these templates have great appeal because there is always that one photo that we have that makes us say, “Wow. Just wow.”
