Every month I get so excited when I see what our designers have created. This month is no exception. I might have squealed a little bit when I saw Smile, It’s Your Day but Chunlin Designs. It is just STUNNING! I love the high contrast colors and the soft feminine feel paired with the deep reds makes this kit one you will want to stare at all day. Let’s look!

layout

One day I will make an album about the wonderful trip we took last Summer to Cuba. With this layout I made a compilation of my most beautiful pictures from that trip. It doesn’t look like it but I have 14 pics on that page.
I also wanted to mention some key words but didn’t want them to be too eye catchy so I blended them into the background.
This layout is the resumé of our 2015 vacation. I love it! By keeping the pics small, it isn’t too crowded.

started

I discovered digital scrapbooking back in 2007 when searching a way to make my girls life books. It quickly became a real addiction and I have been scrapping ever since.
I made my first baby steps as a designer in June 2008 when I released my first freebie, a little compilation of word art I made for a challenge. I needed a background for my preview and created my very first paper… I totally loved the new world opening to me… I was hocked!
I choose my little girl’s Chinese name as my designer name. Chunlin means “the beginning of something new”. It’s pronounced tcheun lin. It also means “born in the spring” and “a wish for something nice” so for me… it was just perfect.

inspired

The change of seasons, the holidays, my kids and family, everyday life, the trips we take or a simple thing as a colour or a fabric, sometimes the smallest little thing can trigger my mojo to design.

tools

Computer: I have an iMac 27-inch and here are the details (I don’t really understand them but I think I have quite a nice computer graphic wise 🙂 ): Processor 3,4 GHz Intel Core i7 – Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 – Software OS X 10.8.5 (12F2560) – Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB

Program: I started way back with PSE5, then got the chance to work with PS CS3. Nowadays, I’m using PS CS5extended and love it.

Camera: my baby is a 5 year old Nikon D60 – I’m in love with my 55-300mm lens!! I got it as a birthday present from hubby last Summer.

Anything Else: I couldn’t do without my tablet: a WACOM INTUOS pen & touch small tablet. It’s the smallest of the Intuos but it’s doing a great job!

tipstricks

Let’s face it, I’m not a photographer, my pics don’t always look clear and sharp and the composition isn’t always what it should be. So I crop and play with my photoshop adjustments settings. It’s amazing what these can do to your photo and to your layout. I mostly use

favorite

“Happiness is… a cup of coffee and a good book” is my all time favorite kit. I was inspired first by a good friend who gave me the theme idea and then by my little family who just loves to read. There are always books lying around all over the house. The coffee part is mine, LOL I’m so addicted to the stuff. The color palette was chosen quite randomly but I just love it! Pinterest is a great place to look for color palettes 🙂 I also loooove the pages I made with this kit. I used every single paper and element from the kit in these 4 layouts. Quite a challenge but I loved it!

popular

My most popular kit was last year’s Chinese New Year kit ” Little Yang goat”. I create a CNY kit each year inspired by the Chinese animal zodiac. I think last year’s goat had quite some fans 🙂 The colors were a match to my horse kit from the year before. Red, black and gold … very traditional Chinese colors but with a modern touch. Most of the elements in this kit were handmade. I’m not sure that’s what made this kit special but I like to think so. This year’s CNY kit is named “Little Hou Monkey”.

Gratitude Journal {week 14}

On Sundays this year at The Daily Digi, we are going to be sharing a FREE weekly gratitude journal spread.

These pages are a place for you to record little memories you don’t want to forget, little reasons to be grateful. Each week their will be a gratefulness quote as well as a few photo spots.

You can use these FREE pages in a number of ways:

1) As digital scrapbooking templates. The download will always include .psd files for both 2-page 12×12 spreads as well as 2-page 8.5×11 spreads. You can add your own papers and elements and scrap ’till your heart’s content! (This is also a good option for those of you who get twitchy because I started the week with Friday. Since January 1 is a Friday, I like to start each week that way, but you may not! Feel free to adjust as needed!

2) As a digital journal. Keep the colors and text just as they are. Simply flatten the layers and add your notes of gratitude. Easy peasy!

3) As printed pages. Print out and write on them the good old-fashioned way. There is a .pdf file included for printing two letter-sized pages. Print your photos and attach!

If you have missed previous weeks, grab them HERE.

_____

If you have used the templates or print-outs, we’d LOVE to see them! Share a link in the comments or EMAIL ME . We just might feature your page!

Be sure to be back next week for your next FREE journal template!

Layouts We Love {April 2016}

It is always such an inspiration to take a stroll through our Flickr pool! Every few months I like to spotlight just a few of the incredible layouts just waiting to inspire you!

If you are in a scrapping rut and need some mojo, check out these amazing pages by amazing artists. Inspiration is certain!

Click on the images for more information on the layout. And while you are there, take a stroll through the entire pool!

I just love the brick wall background of this page. And the title work makes it look so real!

I love how many photos are on this page as well as the variety of elements and yet the page doesn’t seem too cluttered or busy (due to the awesome use of white space!)

The simplicity of this layout is what makes it so striking. The journaling and the photos are perfectly balanced and appealing. I instantly want to read the story!

The happy colors and fun use of triangles make this page so playful and captivating.

As a nature lover, I of course am just giddy over this page. Macro photography in nature is one of my favorite things to do. Makes me want to turn off the computer and get outside!

Every time I see a pocket scrapping page that is well done, I am convinced that one of these days I will give it a try. I get so inspired when I see colorful layouts that chronicle a life well lived.

When so much of our lives revolves around our photos and messages, this slice-of-life layout is so perfect. Have you tried scrapping a text conversation?

I’ve always been drawn to high-contrast colors and so it is no wonder I immediately fell in love with this page. The black and white photo paired with the white background and pops of color makes this layout swoon-worthy.

As mentioned above, I love high contrast. And that goes for my black and white photos as well. But for this layout, the more subtle and subdued black and white photos just work with the toned-down (but still happy!) colors of the paper and elements. It goes to show us that all rules in style and design can be broken for the right reasons.

I love every little thing about this page: the surprisingly perfect colors (look how well they match the little girl’s shirt!), the papers tucked into paper slits at the corners, and the double-framed photo (once in the photo itself and once with a paper frame over top.) Perfection!

Don’t forget to upload your own pages to our Flickr pool. As we work as a community to encourage and inspire one another, we will all benefit.
