Bee Tree Studios is on hiatus from designing, but we couldn’t be happier to have her back with us at The Daily Digi this month. I just adore Stephanie’s kit for the Digi Files: The Best Way Out. I love the dark and unexpected colors in the kit. It makes me think of spring thunderstorms and power outages. So fun! I just know your pages will be amazing with all the patterns and elements.
This is ONE of SEVEN collections you get when you become a member of
The Digi Game this month. You also get an interactive Playbook (in PDF and iBooks formats) that has lots of ideas for using the supplies including techniques, tips, and tricks! All of that, including access to exclusive collaborations every four months you are a member, for only $7.50 total per month! Here are some layouts created using Bee Tree Studio’s contribution:

I’m Stephanie and I’m the person behind the Bee Tree Studios name! I live on the East Coast and I also have two little boys who are just the best thing ever! I enjoy spending my “me time” being creative and I’ve always been a bit quirky. My interests range from Ancient Egyptian history to Modern Fashion Design and so much in between! I love creating on the computer as well as reading, binge watching my favorite shows and singing loudly when no one is around. A few years ago, I fell in love again with Disney and with my kids, have enjoyed many, MANY trips to the Happiest Place On Earth aka: Disney World! I’m also not a huge fan of snow, constant rain or oppressively hot weather… which means I’m an “indoor kind of girl”… I’m a walking book of geeky interests and contradictions but I’m certainly UNIQUE!
Being a Disney loving person, I have TONS of photos from our Disney trips! I really love the Blast Off collection and knew it would be perfect for the main photo of this page. My kids LOVE Buzzlightyear, Woody and all the Toy Story Characters. This was the first time my youngest, a HUGE Buzz fan, got to meet his favorite character. My goodness, it was such a process to get the shy boy to take a photo after talking of nothing else for so long but it was so worth it, even if I had to get in the middle of the photo too! It’s one of my favorite photos from that day so I thought it needed documenting!

I started playing around in paper scrapbooking about ten years ago but space is limited in a small collage dorm so I looked for other options. A few years later I came across digital scrapbooking, I ended up with Photoshop Elements 6. I was in heaven! I dabbled a little in designing a few things for family but I didn’t really do much scrapbooking. At this time, my oldest child was little so most of my free time disappeared. After my youngest was born, I started taking more photos but didn’t do anything with them. A couple years ago, I rediscovered digital scrapbooking so I dusted off Photoshop Elements and learned everything I could. Within a short time I had mastered the basics. At this point, I learned about creative teams and sent in a few applications. I must admit, my first application was to my “dream team” and although I didn’t get selected, I had found my passion. I landed on a few teams, all of which I enjoyed and I stayed with them for over a year. I also ended up on my “dream team” six months later, when the designer contacted me. I’ve been on about ten creative teams, most for over a year and I’m actually still on few teams, including my “dream team”. About two years ago, I started designing a few free things. I had learned a lot from the designers I worked for and decided to upgrade to Photoshop CS6 and jump into the deep end of designing! Since then, I’ve been at two different shops and have learned even MORE! I love that I have such an eclectic mix of style loves, I can never commit to “just one look”. Even with my scrapbook pages, some days I feel like creating something more Art Journal-ish, other days I’m feeling Clean and Simple so I run the whole range of styles depending on what I’m feeling like when I sit down to create!
What inspires me to actually create is the NEED to be creative. I’m not sure how to explain it other than it feels like I MUST create or I’ll explode, it’s an outlet for my feelings, thoughts and energy. It’s almost like therapy and I love having something pretty at the end! As to what things inspire my creativity, well, really anything! I love looking at Pinterest, especially the Graphic Design section. I’ve always loved looking at product packaging, posters, textiles and anything “pretty”!
Computer: I’m currently using a 27″ iMac (late 2013 model) that I got last year! I love it, the screen is HUGE! I’m running OSX Yosemite and the computer specs are: 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7, 24GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM (until I upgrade to the full 32GB hopefully next year!), NVIDIA GeForce GTX 708M graphics cards and a 3.12GB Fusion Hard Drive. I also have 2 external hard drives that I store all my scrapbook files on because I also have a MacBook Pro that I take with my when I travel! It’s a 13″ MacBook Pro (late 2011 model) running OSX Yosemite. It’s specs are: 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM, Intel HD Graphics card with a 500GB Hard Drive. It’s a great laptop to take with me but I’m so pampered with my HUGE desktop screen that it takes a bit to get used to switching to my laptop on trips! I also have a DELL monitor that I use as a second screen, mainly for watching show while I work.
Program: I mostly use Photoshop CS6 but I also use Illustrator CS6 as well.
Camera: I use my iPhone 6 Plus camera for most of my everyday photos or quick snaps while traveling. I chose the 6 Plus over the standard iPhone 6 mostly because of the camera upgrade! I also have a Samsung NX1000 for taking “nice photos” especially on vacations! I currently have a 20-50mm, a 50-200mm and a 16mm lenses for the camera too. My favorite is the 16mm lens because it get SO MUCH in the photo!
Anything Else: I also have a new Wacom Intuos medium size tablet. I upgraded from my old white Wacom Bamboo this year! I found that I really needed a larger work surface on the tablet when I upgraded to the new iMac!
One of the things I love is Smart Objects in Photoshop! I’m constantly tweaking, rotating and editing layers so by making them Smart objects, I can stack and rearrange filters, resize, rotate, etc. until I’m happy with the final look, all without destructively editing my layers! A close second favorite tool is the Puppet Warp, it’s amazing the preciseness of that tool! I always love learning new tricks in Photoshop!
