Fun Holidays in September

There is always a reason to celebrate! For some fun and sometimes wacky celebrations, check out the following holidays that may just leave you celebrating this month!

5: Be Late For Something Day: Seeing as it’s September 6th already, the celebration is right on schedule!

6: Fight Procrastination Day: Procrastination is a favorite pastime, but why not fight it and get something done?

8: International Literacy Day: Check out this infographic to see the status of literacy around the world.

9: Teddy Bear Day: Grab your favorite bear and celebrate!

10: Swap Ideas Day: A day to share ideas with others. Why not swap some recipes, Christmas lists, fashion ideas and more?

11: 911 Remembrance: Check out this site for all sorts of info on observing this tragic day in history.

12: Chocolate Milkshake Day: One quick search on Pinterest and you have recipes galore!

13: Fortune Cookie Day: Head out for Chinese food or try making your own.

15: Make a Hat Day: Whether it’s knit, chrocheted, or made out of paper, take some time to dress your head.

16: National Play Doh Day: We all love to play with it and we all hate to clean it up. But here are some fun facts you might not know about the wonder dough.

18: National Cheeseburger Day: Not that we need an excuse to celebrate cheeseburgers, but this day sounds like a great day to try this recipe.

21: World Gratitude Day: Take a look through your photos and scrapbook albums and remember all you have to grateful for.

22: Elephant Appreciation Day: Because who doesn’t appreciate elephants?

28: Ask a Stupid Question Day: We often tell children that there are no stupid questions. This could be a day to prove them wrong!

30: National Mudpack Day: This day is the perfect day to pamper yourself a bit with a trip to the salon or a DIY facial mask.

Easily creating a 3×4 photo collage for Project Life

I’m still working on my #Phonebooking2015 project and still really enjoying it!! Check out all of my previous posts and grab the FREE date cards to use in your pocket layouts or Project Life pages (they work perfect in the app) for January-September in the Phonebooking category of the site.

Sometimes, when I’m working on a layout in my Project Life App, I have too many photos for the spots on a layout. I want to make a collage of 3×4 photos for a 3×4 journaling/photo spot. The Project Life App comes with some photo collage options, but none of them work for the 3×4 aspect ratio (a 4×6 has a different aspect ratio, so it won’t fit in a 3×4 spot quite right). I also don’t like having to exit OUT of my layout to create the collage in the collage portion of the app, and then come back to my layout).

I’ve started using the Pic Stitch app to create these simple collages. Here’s how…

After opening the app, select the layout style you want. I usually always use the two up and two down grid.

To change the aspect ratio, tap “Aspect” at the bottom.

Then select the 3×4 aspect by tapping it.

Tap on a photo spot and then you will be able to go to your photos and select all of the photos you want to add to the collage. They will then open with the collage. Just drag and drop the photos into a photo spot.

After you are done placing the photos, tap on the arrow on the right to make the photos disappear and the editing menu appear.

There are a lot of really fun things you can do here. Add drop shadows, round the corners, or change the thickness and color of the stroke around the edges of the photos (that’s the three lines on the top menu).

Finally, tap export and then save to photos.

Now, you can access the collage as a photo from the Project Life App and add it to a 3×4 spot.

Now, I’m ready to add all of the other photos, journaling cards, and filler cards to create my layout documenting the fun visit I had with Katie while I was in Utah!

These collages would also be great to use on a digital scrapbook page OR print and use in the physical Project Life as well!

started

I started with paper scrapbooking when my oldest daughter was born mid january 2009 but after ca 3 month i started looking around online and found stuff for digital scrapbooking and got hooked immediately. Few month later I started designing my own products with a few breaks over the years when my other girls were born.

inspired

My children, everyday stuff around me and most of the time colors.

tools

Computer: Windows 7
1 monitor

Program: Adobe Photoshop CC 2015

Camera: Canon EOS 450

Anything Else: wacom tablet – bamboo one

tipstricks

I’m a really fast scrapper, most of my layouts just take about 30 minutes and what I really hate is searching through all those folders, for the perfect stuff. So I was really happy when I found out some years ago that I just could use picasa for it. So each time I buy or design new stuff, I load it into picasa and sort it there for shops/designers or themes – whatever I prefer and then scrapping is really easy. I just need to scroll through or write a word in the search option. The easiest way to find what I need.

favorite

I totally adore the colors, pink and turquoise. I always start searching pinterest for colors that I have in mind for a theme, and afterwards I’m mixing them around till I like them.

I didnt choose the colors for this pack, they were given from one of my shops. My kids completely inspired this collection, coz they are always so messy and loud – total trouble makers.

Page Starters

Page Starters

I type my stories into a Google Docs file to use in scrapbooking later. It is SO helpful to have the stories ready to be documented in a creative way.

Currently, I have an abundance of summer photos and stories. For a scrapbooker, this is a good thing! Unfortunately, life in autumn gets pretty busy – sometimes too busy to do much memory-keeping. Because I have so many photos that I want to use in pages, I want to save my photos with my journaling so that they’re together and ready to be scrapbooked later. I created a simple Page Starter tool to use and I think it’s a great, simple approach to make scrapbooking faster.

Making a Page Starter

To make my Page Starter, I used some papers from the Daily Digi member exclusive kit My Life of Learning and put together this quick page, which I saved as a flattened JPG file. I included a space to save photos, add a working title, the story (journaling), and the date.

If you make a Page Starter for yourself, remember to include anything else that is really important to you – maybe a space for potential kits to use? Or some scrapbook inspiration?

Creating Page Starters

For each page that you want to make in the future, open up the flattened page starter and immediately resave it as a layered TIFF file (PSD would work as well) and give it a new name.

To make it easy to make a scrapbook page, add all of the photos that are needed and then type up the related story. Notice that my photos fall off the Page Starter — that’s okay. It’s a layered file and the entire photo is still ready to be used on my scrapbook page.

Here are a couple of Page Starters that I have made:

When you want to design a page, either just delete the Page Starter background or drag the photos and journaling onto a new canvas. Super easy and quick!
