Pinning Inspiring Scrapbook Layouts Found on Instagram

My Instagram feed is full of inspiring digital scrapbook layouts, which I expect since I follow a lot of fellow digital scrapbookers on Instagram!

Did you know there’s an easy way to save those great layouts to your Pinterest inspiration boards? All it takes is just a few quick clicks.

Step 1 – Click on the three dots below the scrapbook inspiration you like.

I picked this beautiful page by nikkiepperson_scraps.

Step 2 – Select the option Copy Share URL.

You’ll see a little green pop-up message indicating that the link has been copied to the clipboard.

Step 4 – Open the Pinterest app. It will automatically ask if you’d like to pin the link copied to your clipboard. Hit the Pin It button.

Step 5 – Select the image you’d like to pin.

Step 6 – Select the Pinboard you’d like to add the pin too and that’s it! It’s pinned for future reference – and inspiration!

Hope this helps you to organize your favourite digital layouts!

Quick and Easy Hybrid Mailer

When I was in high school, my friends and from camp and I used to write each other letters on a regular basis. This was before many people had email (yes, I’m that old!) and so actual written letters were the name of the game. We used decorate our envelopes and add all sorts of fun stickers and designs to the outside.

Then we upped our game a bit. One day I decided to rip out a bunch of colorful pages from a magazine. Then I took an envelope and unglued all the edges and traced it onto cardboard. I then cut out the design and had my very own envelope template. From those magazine pages we made HUNDREDS of envelopes. With a white sticker on front to add the address, they were not only the coolest envelopes around but also the most economical!

And yes, the post office WOULD mail them!

Well, with the plethora of digi supplies available to us, the process of creating quick and colorful envelopes is even easier!

I love Up, and Away! by Flergs in this month’s Digi Files. When you become a member of The Digi Game, you get this kit AND six more for just $7.50!

In order to make my envelope, I grabbed a template by Miss Tiina.

Then I grabbed a few papers and some elements from Up, and Away!

I created two 8.5×11 documents, both with the template in the same place (I just duplicated the first document to ensure my templates would exactly line up.)

Next I clipped my papers to the templates and added the airplane and white strips.

Then I flattened, saved, and printed the first side. Once it was done printing, I put the flipped the paper over and printed the second document. This allowed my outline to match up perfectly.

I simply cut, folded, glued, and called it done!

You can make your own or download mine RIGHT HERE. Once you are in Dropbox, right click and choose download. Resize if necessary, print, write, and send!

layout

This was the last page I scrapped, sadly in January. 90% of my PC time is spent designing. This one I did for the very first #believeinmagic collection I started in Jan 2015 with Amber Shaw. This template by Brook Magee is one of my all time favourites and is the 3rd time I’ve used it.

started

I think I have been doing digi or hybrid for many many years without realizing it. I always made & printed out my own ellies for paper layouts. Stumbling through photoshop to make titles & pieces for my pages. I got into designing very quickly after I started scrapping. Within a few months I was selling and have never looked back! Now I barely ever scrap. I find a lot more enjoyment in designing, it truly is my passion. Sometimes I like to make the kids invitations, and that’s about it.

inspired

Everything. Clothes, fabric, books. Pinterest is an amazing tool to have. Sometimes one tiny thing will inspire an entire collection, and usually with most of my kits I can pin point what started it.

tools

Computer: I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. 12GB RAM. 1: 27″ main monitor & 1: 17″ second monitor. Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 It runs like a dream, and filters render in seconds too. And I have 5 1TB hard drives.

Program: I use Photoshop CS5 and very very rarely Illustrator.

Camera: Nikon D5500

Anything Else: –

tipstricks

I still use CS5, so no auto save. So my trick is, I always make a new canvas & save it as a TIFF or PSD. Close it, then open it again. Now I can simply hit CTRL+S to save my work as I go & never lose anything again.

favorite

I think every new release becomes my favourite, and this one is definitely up there. Inspired by the book my daughter was reading & I love woodland kits, toadstools, rich reds and gold. I enjoyed making this kit and was inspired from start to finish. Even taking a visit to a beautiful forest to take photos for papers.

This one is definitely my best selling solo product. Disney themed and of course it was released right at the best time after the movie came out. I see a lot of icy frozen kits but not so many for Anna, with Norwegian rosemaling and bold colours.

Slow and Intentional

It’s a new week. A new month. A new school year. Move over January, August is here.

As you start this new week/month/year, I want to encourage you to be SLOW and INTENTIONAL. New beginnings offer us a chance to do things differently.

Rather than rush through each day, finding a checked-off to-do list of much more value than an enjoyed moment, let us slow down and be present in each moment.

As memory keepers, we care about the little moments. However, I know I have often been more concerned with capturing the moment and making it look good than about really appreciating and enjoying it. The two aren’t mutually exclusive, but I do think the amount of appreciation we have for something directly correlates with how much we slow down to truly enjoy it.

It’s far to easy to rush, rush, rush and miss the beauty of the small moments.

Slow down. Be intentional. Enjoy your moments.

P.S. I have a serious thing for spider webs. You can see more of my photos from a recent walk HERE.
