My name is Valéria Piemonte. I am a brazilian girl living in a small town in the countryside of Sao Paulo State. I have been married for almost 12 years with the love of my life. We have to marvelous sons, Giovanni who is going to be 10 soon and Guilherme who just turned 8 in January. We also have 2 adorable doggies, Fiona -the border collie and Marceline – a puppy we adopted last September. I am a work at home mum trying to manage my time between designing, kids and house chores. When I am not working I also enjoy reading, watching movies and hanging out with my family.

What I love most about this layout is its colors and the fact that it depicts the start of a long and hard journey I started one and a half year ago and thank goodness have finished just recently – a diet to lose 25 kilos. It was a very difficult time with lots of privations but thankfully I had help from my beloved family and friends who gave me all the strength I needed through this journey.

I first started as a digital scrapper in 2009 when I was trying to find something to decorate my son´s first birthday album. I scrapped for about 2 years before I started designing. At that time I thought to myself, why not try designing my own kits? I know how to play with Photoshop and Illustrator because in fact these were the tools I worked with everyday when I was an Art Director in my husband’s advertising agency. I feel so glad that I wasn’t afraid of trying because now I really enjoy what I do for living. Designing digital scrapbooking products is one of my passions in life.

Pretty much everything! I love paying attention the colors I see everyday. From a walk through the park or a swim in my parent’s house, everything that catches my eyes is a source of inspiration lately. I am always seeking for new inspiration around me. But what really inspire me to create everyday is my family. They are the ones who make me wake up in the morning and want to work as a designer.

Computer: 21,5″ iMac – OS X 10.9.1, 4GB RAM and 500GB HD plus an EHD of 500GB.

Program: Photoshop, illustrator CS6

Camera: Nikon D40

Anything Else: I also use a Wacom Bamboo Pen tablet.

One of the things I love most when I am designing is mixing up fonts to create word arts. That is my favourite part of designing. So today I will give you a few tips about how to mix up fonts to create word arts/ journal cards or even titles to your layouts.
First tip is to try not to use more than 2 or 3 different fonts at a time. The best way to combine fonts is to choose your favourites and play with them. If you choose a tall and skinny font, try to use a nice and bold script one, thick ones go well with serif and thin modern fonts, cursive and straight, all caps, and lower case. Remember the rule of opposites attract.

I love this set of 3×4 calendars because they are so versatile and can be used in layouts, project life pages, mini albuns. Plus, as I said it earlier I love mix and matching fonts so that’s mostly why this is among one of my favourites products!

The colors of this kit are nature inspired. I guess what it makes it so popular is the fact that it can be used for everyday projects, art journaling pages or even more clean layouts. It includes elements and papers which can be used with all styles of scrapping.
