Hey TDD readers!! I’m Meg…a 38yr old (wow where has time gone??) WAHM living in Georgia. I’ve been designing since 2009 and have called Sweet Shoppe Designs my design home since 2010 🙂

Sadly scrapping has taken a backseat in my life this last year but I’m doing Project Life this year and somehow managing to keep up. I hope to add some digi layouts here and there this year!
I started scrapping in 2007. I bought scrap kits to make sigs on a board I was on. I eventually made a layout then discovered a digi home at Sweet Shoppe and have been there since! I started dabbling in designing in 2008 with a couple of collabs with some designer friends. I got pretty serious about it in 2009 (I designed with a friend as a duo then eventually went out on my own) I moved to SSD in October 2010 and am there to stay!
I am inspired by quite a few things. Since the booming of Pinterest I’ve found ideas in many great messages. It can be a song, video, quote, etc. Pair that inspiration with some awesome colors and a kit is born!
Another inspiration..LIFE in general. My life has been turned upside down the last year and a half and I feel like a lot of my kits lately reflect the space my head is in.
Computer: I use a beautiful iMac..she’s 4 years old and in desperate need of an upgrade but I am still enamored.
Lately I’ve been doing some traveling and designing on a rather old Dell Inspiron laptop that I cleaned off and updated and it’s working beautifully so far.
There’s a new Macbook Pro calling my name though once my “I need a new computer fund” fills up 🙂
Program: Photoshop CS5 on my Imac but I used a trail of Creative Cloud and I see myself moving to that very soon. I love being able to continue working while projects save and to save multiple files at a time.
Illustrator gets opened every once in awhile but I prefer drawing in Photoshop
Camera: Iphone? lol I use my phone for 95% of my photos now. I do have an old Canon Rebel but it doesn’t get brought out much anymore.
Anything Else: I have a bamboo tablet and rely on my Canon scanner/printer occasionally but they are mainly dust collectors
Tips for Scrappers (well and designers!)–Do not force creativity. If you aren’t feeling it put it aside and work on another project. I find when I put something out of my mind I find the inspiration I was lacking in the most unexpected places and times
Tips for Designers–Do a stripe paper first when you design to make sure your colors work well together on paper. That’s saved me many headaches over time once I received that advice.
Usually my latest product is my favorite.
As I said earlier my designs reflect aspects of my life sometimes and When I Met You is sort of me pouring my feelings out about somebody in kit form.
I believe family and getting our memories down is why we all scrap to begin with. A family kit in an appealing neutral palette can never be a bad choice. It’s a little ironic I suppose that I created a family kit for my contribution this month. You can never have too many!
