WELCOME BACK to Miss Mint from Peppermint Creative! I was so excited about Miss Mint’s completely pocket scrapping contribution to The Digi Files this month! It’s a spin-off (pun intended) of one of her previous contributions to The Digi Files, that she says, is still one of her most popular selling kits to this day. So many FUN and bright colors, along with great word art; all typical of Miss Mint. Let’s take a closer look at “LIP Pocket Style Card Kit: iRock Edition” that is included in
The Digi Files this month:

This is ONE of SEVEN collections you get when you become a member of
The Digi Game this month. You also get an interactive Playbook (in PDF and iBooks formats) that has lots of ideas for using the supplies including techniques, tips, and tricks! All of that, including access to exclusive collaborations every four months you are a member, for only $7.50 total per month! Here are some layouts created using Miss Mint’s contribution:

Hello everyone! I’m so excited to be back for a third time at The Daily Digi. My name is Pamela but around digi-land I’m best known as Miss Mint or MM for short. I’m the owner/designer/tech support/customer service representative/social media & marketing manager/regular gal Friday behind Peppermint Creative. I live in Toronto, Canada and spend far too much time in front of my computer which is why when I’m not working you will likely find me at the gym. One incredibly exciting bit of news since I was last here is that I’ve launched a second business as a stylist with Stella & Dot; a company giving women the means and opportunity to truly define and style their own lives, to find financial freedom and more importantly, to find their joy. I’m now coaching women all over the country on how to duplicate the success I’ve had. It has been life changing for me and I’m finding it to be the perfect balance to what I do everyday at Peppermint Creative.

I love this page because it’s absolutely ridiculous. I spotted these adult onesies at Target while on a road trip through Maine last year and decided I couldn’t NOT try one on purely for the photo opp. I didn’t buy it though I have to admit, it was pretty cozy. I love the big black letters running down the side of this page. I didn’t want to add too many embellishments so I stuck with a huge title and snips of paper under my photos.

I used to say that I was probably one of the only designers that was never a scrapbooker, but alas that myth was debunked last week when my Mom pulled out a very rudimentary scrapbook I made on a giant coil bound pad of purple construction paper of our family trip to Israel when I was 13. So I guess it was in me all along.

My professional background is in copywriting and graphic design. I worked at an interactive advertising agency for a while and then did some freelance design but found it really creatively unfulfilling. I stumbled upon the world of digital scrapbooking by accident about 8 years ago while trying to create what I had previously thought was my first scrapbook of a recent vacation. I was immediately excited about the idea of designing instead of scrapbooking and my graphic design background provided me with enough technical knowledge to start experimenting.

I started building my website while trying to figure out how to design scrapbook kits and in 2006, Peppermint Creative launched as a hobby but quickly and rather unexpectedly turned into a full time job. That wasn’t in the plan (heck, there was no plan) but I’m very grateful and feel very lucky to have the freedom to do something I love with people I love and work from home.

My amazing customers and my super talented team. I’m really not much of a scrapbooker. I don’t have kids. I just like to design. So my inspiration mainly comes from my team, my friends and my fabulous Minty fans, customers and friends. They are not shy to tell me what they want to see.

Computer: I’m currently working on a 15″ MacBook Pro with Retina Display with 16 GB of RAM. I was worried that it wouldn’t be enough power to keep up with me but it’s been amazing. I have a 2TB EHD containing all my documents and files so I don’t store my content on the laptop itself. There is just too much. When I’m home I have it hooked up to two external Cinema displays so I get the real estate of the big screen and the optional the portability of the laptop. Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too?

Program: I’m rocking Photoshop CS6 and Adobe Illustrator CS6. Can’t live without them.

Camera: I shoot with a Canon 7D which I’m ashamed to admit I have not been using nearly as much as I should. Lenses: 50mm f/1.8, 17-85mm f/1.4-5.6, 75-300mm f/1.4-5.6 and the 430EX Speedlite External Flash. I also use my Olympus Pen E-PL1 quite a bit but now which is a cross between a point and shoot and a DSLR, which is pretty cool but now that I have the iPhone5 I’ve been using that as my camera most often. I am totally obsessed with Instagram. Everything looks a little bit better with a filter.

Anything Else: I also use a Wacom Tablet (love), an HP 4850 scanner, a Silhouette SD on occasion and don’t get me started on printers. My beloved Canon finally bit the dust after 8+ years and I’m still looking for an adequate replacement. Suggestions are welcome.

My most useful tip is to use a lesser known Photoshop function to open multiple files at once and have them all placed on a single document for you. This is a great time-saving tip that make using your digital alphabet sets or piling a ton of elements onto a page a lot faster.

STEP 2: Click BROWSE and go find the alphabet/elements you want to use. STEP 3: Select all your files. Hold down the SHIFT KEY to select multiple files
STEP 4: Select OPEN and OK
STEP 5: Sit back and watch your computer go nuts . It will open and stack your files onto one new document and each layer will keep it’s original file name. You can then drag that whole stack onto your page.

I don’t like to play favorites but if I had to choose I think the Little Learner LIP Pocket Card Collection would top my list. School is a really fun theme to design and I’ve gotten great feedback on this particular collection. Fun colors, lots of variety and very useable for all your kindergarten & elementary school memories. My team really loved the bright primary colors and it’s been one of my top selling LIP (Life In Pictures) collections so I think it’s definitely a favorite by general consensus. I also created one for the older kids (high school, university, continuing education), which is a close second.

People have really been loving the flexibility and versatility of these journal card templates. They are completely customizable (change text, fonts, colors and layout) so they easily integrate into any page you’re making regardless of theme or color scheme. They are a great starting point for those who want to customize or who feel restricted by pre-designed products.
