I am Iara (with i), the designer behind the Baers Garten Designs brand.
I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, but now live in a small town near to Cologne, in Germany.
I am a former scientist now WAHM to three little bears.

My children just love to play with little critters. They are big LEGO fans and Littlest Pet Shop fans. The favorite LPS are the mice. They all have names and personalities. This layout celebrate these special toys and include photos that I found in the kids camera.

I am scrapping since 2004 and designing since 2007. I sold my digital scrapbook products at Scrapbook Graphics and Two Peas in a Bucket until I decided to open my own store ( last year. I do also have an Etsy store where I sell Party printables ( and an Etsy store where I sell handcrafted scrapbook supplies (
My journey into scrapbooking started with a blog I started when I moved overseas in 2000. Back then I created some pixel graphics to decorate it. They got a great feedback and I openned my first store. My customers often said they would use my graphics for scrapbooking but I thought that making pages was not something for me until I got pregnant with my oldest daughter and decided to make a pregnancy album.
I started as a digi scrapper but soon tried paper scrap and loved it too. I kept drawing pixel graphics and scrapping until June 2007 when I decided to try my hand as a digi designer. I never made a pixel graphics again since them!
In 2011 I got a Studio place for my own and started paper scrapping again. Paper scrapping balances the time I spend working in front of the computer. I actually only digi scrap when I want the same fotos to go to all three kids albums, so I make one layout and print it three times 🙂

I usually start a new kit or party printables package from one element that inspires me. For example, the entire Inspiration for the “Little Mouse Treasures” kit came from a vintage poster I saw somewhere in Amsterdam last April. My kids love to play that their littlest pet shop mice collect things from our house and I imagined all the little treasures a mouse living in the centre of Amsterdam could collect in his mousehole.

Computer: I am a PC Girl. I have no idea about all the specs LOL My husband is the one who takes care of all things Computer here but I’ll give a try: I have 8 Giga RAM, 2x 1TB hard drives and one huge monitor.

Program: I work with Photoshop CS4 and Illustrator CS4 which I rarely use.

Camera: My camera is Nikon D50. I am thinking about upgrading it but not sure if it will happen any soon.

Anything Else: I have a wacom intuos tablet and a pen and I can’t use the mouse anymore LOL

I always correct the White Balance from my photos and the photos I take from my traditional layouts and mini mlbums using Adobe Bridge. All you need to do is to right click on the photo and select the option “open in camera raw”. In the new window choise “auto” for white balance and “auto” for the other options. It works like a charm!

I think the “The Voices of Color” collection is the best representation of my work as a digi designer. It includes lots of cute and lots of vintage inpired elements. I love everything in this collection and I smile everytime I see These kits or the layouts I created with them.

My mother was a seamstress. As a child, I spend lot of time playing close to her sewing machine. I love that my mother also sew a lot for me and I do also sew for my kids, mostly softies for all of them and dresses for the girls. I am in love with this kit and I am happy that my customers seem to be as well.
