Take Note

I’m so happy to welcome back Tickled Pink Studio to The Digi Files this month! I LOVE Becca’s simple and stunning typography work in her designs. I remember watching Becca from the very beginning of her design career and loved her designs from the beginning. It was so fun to hear her talk about her start in digital scrapbooking and designing in her episode of the Digest. Becca’s enthusiasm for design and digital scrapbooking is contagious and it was a joy to visit with her!

I am a 38 year old font addict who loves all things typography, graphic design, and just being creative. I love spending time with my family (husband Phillip & kids Austin, Ethan Savannah) and trying my hand at being the next Julia Child.

I don’t usually scrap with my own products but I loved my pet kit, True Friend, so much that I just had to use it. I already had the perfect photo in mind and really enjoyed scrapping Lars (my sister’s dog). I paired the kit up with Cheryl of Fiddle-Dee-Dee’s amazing template and had a blast making this layout.

I discovered and fell in love with digital scrapbooking in 2008 after my sweet friend Sarah Cornish convinced me to give it a try.

In the year 2010 I decided to take the plunge into digital scrapbook design with a little push from dear friends Sara Gleason and Crystal Livesay. I applied to the Apprentice program at Little Dreamer Designs and was accepted. I enjoyed the program and was thrilled to work with Michelle Coleman and join the team at Little Dreamer. This officially started my career as a digital scrapbook designer. Currently, I am an exclusive digital designer selling at Scrap Orchard and I enjoy creating products for everyone to capture their memories with.

I get inspiration from a bit of everywhere. I really love color and typography so seeing fabulous advertisements can really capture my eye and inspire a product.

Computer: Windows 8 on a Dell XPS 8700 with 24GB RAM and a solid state drive.

Program: I still use PSCS4. I mainly use Photoshop and Illustrator in the suite. I have been thinking about upgrading to the Cloud but haven’t taken the plunge yet.

Camera: I have a Canon DSLR.

Anything Else: I have a Wacom tablet but still find myself writing and drawing with the mouse.

Not sure how useful this is for anyone but one of my favorite designer tools lately has been Sherwin-Williams Chip It tool. You can either upload a photo or submit a URL and it will pull a color palette for you.

My favorite product is one of my newest releases, Wild Horses. I had this kit in mind for sometime and finally made it happen. My daughter had this t-shirt with a horse silhouette in purples and pinks with stars and I just loved it. It was definitely my inspiration for this kit. I had in mind the colors I wanted to use but it took some tweaking to get them just right. What I love about this kit is that it isn’t like your traditional horse kit. It doesn’t scream cowboy/cowgirl. It isn’t the traditional colors you would find this type of theme in.

The Everyday Life Collection is a digital scrapbook pocket themed collection created with Megan Turnidge. This series is filled with goodies for everyone. From those who want to dive into hybrid/paper pocket scrapbooking or just scrap a regular layout.

We actually have three (3) collections in the series right now and I would say the Everyday Life: It’s A Girl Thing is the most popular. We wanted this collection in the series to be girly and fun so we chose vibrant, happy colors to pull it all together.
