It has been far too long since Wimpychompers joined us in The Digi Files! Christina’s style typically includes some of her very own doodles related to the theme. Many of her kits have some adorable little people that contribute to the theming of the collection. She also does a great job of including lots of different textures in her kits that add dimension to layouts. I especially love the little touches of glitter that can be found in some of her kits (not too much and not too little). We are excited to have Wimpychompers in The Digi Files again, she is always great to work with! Let’s take a closer look at “Summer Blossoms” that is included in The Digi Files this month:
This is ONE of SEVEN collections you get when you become a member of The Digi Game this month. I am Christina Anderson from the High Desert of Southern California. I have been married over 12 years to my sweetheart, a math teacher (a subject I am more than happy to let him teach… not me thankfully). My oldest son is 9 and has a few special needs but is the most amazing little boy. Our daughter, 8 and son, 5 1/2 are also just special and amazing. I have been designing for almost 6 years now I believe and I am also a business owner of a photography studio opened a year ago. I love being creative and love my family.
I was so in love with this project because 8 is such a special age in our church. Doing a photo session to remember this with her was a blast. Even more special was that the dresses she wore for this session were both sentimental family dresses so capturing them was important as well. We set up the backdrop/lighting/flooring in a small space in my family room and it turned out beautifully. Being a photographer is more than a hobby for me of course but doing it for my daughter was a special project.
I first started out being a siggy designer. I saw one and was fascinated so I found Paint Shop Pro and taught myself how to create the siggies and tags. I loved it and soon moved to writing tutorials for siggies using Paint Shop Pro. After my two oldest were born I quickly learned regular paper scrapping was more difficult as a mother and I was looking for a way to continue scrapping but without the mess. I started digital scrapping when I joined Danielle Corbitt’s CT team (long time ago) and soon began designing as well. It’s been almost 6 years of designing and I am happy to be designing and scrapping.
I love Pinterest, it’s so full of amazing and creative ideas! I also think colors/textures/clothing inspire me. Over the years I’ve learned to be inspired from what’s around me and there is nothing better than when it all comes together.
Computer: I design on a Toshiba laptop but have a huge touch screen that I love and occasionally use as well (although this is usually for photo editing itself).
Program: I design on Paint Shop Pro X4 and Adobe CS3 but recently upgraded to CS6 and am still learning all about it. 🙂 I have Illustrator and Lightroom as well but don’t use those as often for designing.
Camera: Currently a Nikon D5000 but will upgrade as soon as finances allow. I have a battery grip which is awesome (love having extended batter life). I use a 50 mm 1.8 lens on occasion but my favorite is the 55-200 1.8 lens. I do intend on upgrading like I said but for now I use what I have and make beautiful images with it.
Anything Else: I do have the tablet but do not use it as often as I’d like because I’m not as coordinated with it.
I can definitely give a photography tip! 🙂 One of the biggest mistakes we make when we want to look thin in photographs is framing our subject directly at the camera. We stand straight on, smiling, and this in fact makes us wider. A nice trick is to remember to bring one leg back and put your weight on it, one leg forward. Think of it like a ballerina pose, left foot pointed left, right pointed forward (assuming left is the back leg and right is the front leg) and space them apart. It may feel awkward for some people but practice in a mirror and you will see what I mean. Drop your shoulder slightly (the one facing the camera) and stand tall. This will help slim you down almost instantly. If you are confused shoot me a message, I’d be happy to help guide you through this.
This actually surprised me that this is the one I chose but I have to admit this one was one of my favorites. I got the idea to create a kit that represents the 80s and called my sister excited about this adventure. We brainstormed all of the things we loved as children (I was born in 1981 so I was definitely a child of the 80s). The colors were fairly easy to pick out for this, everything in it reminded me of my childhood. It was a blast, it was difficult to finally wrap it up and put it in the store because it just kept getting larger!
The karate kits are such a huge deal! I couldn’t choose just one so I showed all of them but a majority of my color collections are my best sellers. These allow clients the ability to choose what colors fit their team or their kids colors and it’s an amazing seller.
These color collections are inspired because I love the idea of choosing the colors YOU need. I don’t want to sacrifice my layout because my child is wearing blue and the kit only has red. Clients could change colors but it takes time and sometimes doesn’t come out right if not done correctly. These collections simply made it easier for all of us. 🙂
