I was able to spend a little bit of time with Jacque Larsen while at CHA this winter and it was very fun to get to know her and I’m thrilled that she is joining us in The Digi Files once again. It is always exciting to put faces and voices with names I have known for a long time! Jacque is well-known throughout digiland for her doodles and paper piecings, which are beyond adorable. I have many of her goodies on my layouts and would guess several of our readers do too. Let’s take a closer look at “Mr. Postman collection” that is included in The Digi Files this month:
This is ONE of SEVEN collections you get when you become a member of The Digi Game this month. You also get an interactive Playbook (in PDF and iBooks formats) that has lots of ideas for using the supplies including techniques, tips, and tricks! All of that, including access to exclusive collaborations every four months you are a member, for only $7.50 total per month! As well as designing, scrapbooking is a real stress reliever for me. I don’t do it near as much as I’d like to or used to. Which is probably why I’m so uptight. Hahaha This most recent layout was on a last minute road trip that my family decided to take. We went to visit my brother who recently lost his battle with brain cancer. Because of the emotional roller coaster and trials my family has dealt with since his diagnose has made me really change my focus of what is important to me. Family has always been priority. But not until these last 18 months did I really realize how important jotting down your feelings and capturing the happy times as well as difficult struggles and memories is. I don’t ever want to forget the example that my little brother was for me and all those who loved him. I want to be able to relive the moments my family spent together. Every single one of them good and bad. I am so grateful for modern technology. I may not always have my DSLR with me to take pictures of all these experiences but with my phone I can snap a pic and write a small caption and then scrapbook about it at a later time. The reminder is there. The memory can be revisited. The pictures make me smile.
One National Scrapbook Day several years ago, I was broke. As I sat reading my young daughter her favorite book “Good Night Moon.” I was inspired to create my own paper pieces to sell. After experimenting with watercolor paper and acrylic paints. I created my first set of paper pieces called “Little Luna” inspired by my daughters favorite book and my favorite author Eric Carle.
I am an early child development major. I love teaching. I love getting my hands dirty and crafting. Bright colors, preschool story books and the way children play inspire me the most. When I moved from traditional scrapbooking to digital scrapbooking I quickly realized how much I missed the hands on, touchy feely of cutting, pasting and arranging of my scrapbooks. Creating my paper pieces fills that void and I love it. I crave it.
Computer: I work on a PC with 2 large monitors. I have no idea about OS or how much RAM. My husband is my computer tech guy. He builds my computers to suit my needs. Always keeps things running smoothly and quickly. I’m one lucky little lady. 😉
Program: I create and scrap in PSCS6.
Camera: I have a Canon 30D DSLR with my favorite lens. An EF 50mm 1:1.8, I also use a Canon PowerShot Elph 110 HS when I don’t feel like draggin my big camera around. But 95% of the time I use my iPhone for taking images and scrapbook those.
Anything Else: Strathmore Cold Pressed acid free, heavy weight (140 lb.) Watercolor Paper. Acrylic paints in a variety of colors.
I have been designing for over 6 years. And just THIS year I learned about the pen tool in Photoshop. What?! I can’t believe how much easier and quicker designing is with that cool trick. Gives me more time to create, less time on the computer and lots more time with my family. Which is my ultimate goal.
My favorite project changes all the time. I am a HUGE fan of bright colors as you can see in most of my designs. Launch Pads vol. 3 – Spring are a great representation of just that. Bright, fun, rainbow colors. Easy to use. All you have to add are the photos.
This is so hard to know. Everything changes all the time. But the last couple of years I have sold so many sets of my Jesse Tree Printables. By looking through my shop you will see that I create lots of religious and inspirational paper pieces. Besides teaching small children and being with family. Religion also means a lot to me. What can be better than all three of these important elements combined? Being together with family and teaching our children about the life of Christ. I love that these paper pieces can provide just that. It has motivated me to create more and more paper pieces that can be used in a similar way.
