Hello. I’m Shirley. Wife to the talented and ever so handsome Joseph. Mother to the beautiful and independent 4-year-old Aubrey Rose.
When I left my job 4 years ago I was the Creative Director for the largest newspaper in the state but I found myself missing something. That’s when Aubrey Rose came into our lives and I decided to become a SAHM. The 10+ years I spent in corporate America didn’t come close to preparing me for this new job I had decided to take on. Now I spend my days watching Bubble Guppies and preparing my very independent 4 year old for school. I have learned to laugh at myself, I have learned patience and I have learned the meaning of unconditional love.
I spend my nights balancing my design with a very lonely husband and 4 even lonelier fur babies. Thankfully for me all 5 of them are very understanding.
PROJECT LIFE!!! I absolutely love this project and this year I was selected to be a part of Becky Higgin’s CT. I love that I can catch the little things and record them in the moment they happened.
I discovered digital scrapbooking when I was 8 months pregnant. I was due to give birth 2 days before my husband’s 30th birthday and I needed something special for him but would allow me to keep my feet up while I planned. That is when I discovered Shutterfly and their amazing photo albums. While browsing their gallery I saw a 30 things from 30 people on your 30th birthday album. I threw one together for my husband in 2 weeks and at the same time I discovered the amazing world of digital scrapbooking.
After a year of scrapbooking I was encouraged to enter Little Dreamer’s Designer Contest. I WON! I guess the rest is history.
Everything. I have created kits based on the color scheme of my shower curtain. I have created kits based on something funny my daughter has said. I keep a notebook with me at all times because I never know when inspiration will hit.
Computer: I have an iMac and a MacBook Pro both using Mountain Lion. I do most of my designing on the laptop because it is new and packs some power.
Program: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
Camera: Nikon 300
Anything Else: I use a wacom tablet or at least I try.
GET ORGANIZED. Its amazing how much faster things go when you have your photos or supplies in one place and organized. I love to organize my supplies using iPhoto and my I have a massive organization system for photos. It may seem like a daunting task when you start but it will make a huge difference.
I created this kit in honor of my grandmother. She is a survivor of breast cancer and I wanted something special to tell her story. I still donate a portion of the proceeds to Relay For Life, where she still walks a survivor lap.
These templates were created to make Project 365 as easy as possible. I created 52 templates already dated with spots for both pictures and journaling. All the use has to do is open and add their information. These are shutterfly ready and allow for the use to replace papers and colors. These are special because they take the work out of P365 but still leaves room for creativity.
