I am thrilled to be welcoming back EHStudio to The Digi Files, this time as a template designer. I love the Elisa’s templates have lots of linear paper strips! I love using paper strips in my own scrapping, but like a clean and organized look. Elisa does a really great job creating templates that fill the bill! Let’s take a closer look at “It’s Out Of My Hands” that is included in The Digi Files this month:
This is ONE of SEVEN collections you get when you become a member of The Digi Game this month. You also get an interactive Playbook (in PDF and iBooks formats) that has lots of ideas for using the supplies including techniques, tips, and tricks! All of that, including access to exclusive collaborations every four months you are a member, for only $7.50 total per month! Here are some layouts created using EHStudios’s contribution:

Hi! I’m thrilled to be back here again at TDD!! My name is Elisa Hubbard, or simply Lisa around these parts in small town, Indiana. I’m a 26, (nearly 27), year old photographer & designer working for myself since 2009. Though still not married & with children, I have a huge extended family & thousands of pictures that I love scrapping about. Plus since the last time I was here I’ve gotten a puppy, Charlie, who is now 2 years & has been featured in tons of my layouts too. I’m still one of those people that hate talking about themselves, (or maybe it’s middle child syndrome!), but scrapping is helping me to find my voice each and every day & to embrace all my imperfections.
Since last time I included a favorite layout with this feature, (and I have a hard time picking favorites anyway), I thought this time I’d show a project. Here is my version of getting my layouts off my computer & into my hands so I can really let my family be a part of my memory keeping. I scrap A LOT and I scrap in such a random way, & I knew from the beginning that I’d have a hard time doing things with my layouts, in a physical format, unless I came up with a plan. I guess my tip to you is to not be scared of imperfections but to embrace the way you think. Get your memories down & have a way to share them with those you love.
Another scrap project I stared December of 2011 was Project Life & I’m hoping to continue that this year.
I first started scrapping when I was 13 for a school project on photography that I began after my twin cousins were born, 1999. It was paper, & it wasn’t pretty. But I LOVED it since I’ve always loved hearing stories about the past & looking through albums & reminiscing. When I went to college in 2004 I brought some paper products along with me but never had the time to do any scraping, so during my college years I put it all aside & forgot about it. Then in 2009, on iNSD in May, I came across a site about Digital Scrapbooking & was intrigued & instantly hooked! Shortly after that, around Black Friday that year, I started designing and have been with Mscraps for coming up on 3 years! Even now though I still consider myself a scrapper first, but I’m truly hooked on this whole industry! Coming up on 4 years of Digi when iNSD rolls around!
Honestly. EVERYTHING. My main source would be my twin cousins, Hanna & Savanna, who are like little sisters to me. They’ve inspired me my whole life with my art & photography. Otherwise scrap galleries, nature, quotes, blogs, Charlie…anything & everything is some sort of inspiration in my work.
Computer: HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC running Windows 7 in 64 Bit and with 6GB RAM + as always, not enough hard-drive space!
Program: Lightroom 4 & Adobe CS5 Creative Suite for Photoshop and Illustrator mostly
Camera: Canons. Mostly I just use my new 5D Mark III & love it, but I still have my 20D & 40D that get pulled out from time to time for work. Also I have a point & shoot G11. Maybe soon I’ll add a good camera phone to the mix.
Anything Else: The same Wacom Intuos 3 Graphics Tablet that I’ve had for years.
Don’t get stuck thinking a designers’ products are only good for the “style” they design in. When I’m scrapping I sometimes like to challenge myself and mix clean & simple things with more artistic and grungy products. Sometimes it helps to use a template in the style you are less comfortable with & spice it up with products in the style you love & see what the collaboration of the two provides. This is also the way to get more from your stash & more from your templates. This is DIGI! We can play & always undo!
I already said I have a hard time picking favorites, but this kit is one that just came together so smoothly. I’d been inspired by the mix of wood & delicate pieces in my own scrapping & wanted to incorporate that in my designs with “Here With You.” I went around the farm with my camera to photograph all the buildings and barns & I really tried to pause and enjoy the day. It was peaceful and inspiring & I think that soft beauty showed through when I sat down to create the kit.
I don’t know if this was the most popular, but it was one of them & it’s still one of my favorites. Obviously my work as a photographer was the main inspiration on this one + my dad collects old vintage cameras for me at auctions & that played a part in this kit as well. I try to make all my kits be applicable to EVERYDAY photos, & I think this one really embodies that it can be used to scrap everything. Every little detail is important.
I already said I’m thrilled to be back here, so I’d like to celebrate that with a 50% off coupon to anything in my store! And it’s good all the way through April 15th, (a holiday in my world with 2 accountant parents!)!!
Expires: April 15th
Thank you so much for checking out my designs & for letting me be a part of this great community!
