Amy Martin: The Forefront

It’s been a very long time since we’ve had Amy Martin in The Digi Files and I’m so happy she is back again!  I got to hang out a little bit with Amy a few weeks ago at CHA in California and she is SO sweet. Amy is an award-winning scrapper that creates beautiful works of art in her layouts. With her templates, we can all scrap in Amy’s enviable style.  Let’s take a closer look at “Whip It Up Fast” that is included in The Digi Files this month:

This is ONE of SEVEN collections you get when you become a member of The Digi Game this month. You also get an interactive Playbook (in PDF and iBooks formats) that has lots of ideas for using the supplies including techniques, tips, and tricks! All of that, including access to exclusive collaborations every four months you are a member, for only $7.50 total per month!  Here are some layouts created using Amy Martin’s contribution:

I am a believer, wife and mother. I have been married to my best friend for over a decade and have four lovely children to continue the legacy. I take things as they come and am extremely content in my life… I snap way too many pictures, as my children will readily agree! I have been doing some sort of scrapping for years; however, I dove into digital scrapping in ’03 and started to dabble in hybrid shortly thereafter. I have had my work featured in most every major scrapbook publication and have been honored as both Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame winner and a Making Memories Master.

This is a hybrid project and is a favorite because it turned out so very soft and sweet. I love to be able to mix and match digi and paper goodies to create something so fun!

startedI have dabbled in memory keeping since I was little – I have the friendship bracelets and movie ticket stubs still in a basement somewhere! I started digital, officially, in 2003, around the time we welcomed busy little hands into our family. I was a scrapper first; however, at the time, there were no stores that sold plain torn-edged notebook papers or stitched ribbons. So, I decided to make some. People started asking where they came from on my layouts – one thing led to another!

I find inspiration from many places – nature, magazines, billboards, websites, my kids…

Computer: I use a MacBook Pro with 8g of RAM. I have just recently converted from a PC and doubt I will ever go back.
Program: I use PSCS5 for my design work. I am late in the game with this, however, as I used PSP for years and years.
Camera: I shoot mainly with my iPhone these days (it’s good to at least capture the moment, right?), but I also shoot with a Nikon D200.
Anything Else: I have never adapted to using a tablet even though I have a couple of them. Admittedly, I have horrible drawing abilities, so I’m fine without.

Scrapping should be about creating memories for you and your family to enjoy in years to come. It should not be about making things “look good” for everyone else – they will come and go, but your family, your family will remain. Scrapping is also an outlet, I have found, a creative outlet. With these two ideas at the forefront of the process, it is quite amazing what art can be produced!

This stitching pack is a favorite of mine. I rarely create (non-template) products that I am not excited to use myself – this pack is no exception! There are very few layouts of my own that do not have some type of stitching on them, so this pack gets lots of use!

This template pack has been extremely popular lately – it has a full set of stitching overlays that make those multi-photo layouts a bit more messy.
