Flergs has been a huge supporter of The Daily Digi from the beginning, appearing in the first Digi Files ever and again a couple of years ago. She also regularly contributes to our exclusive collabs for members. Flergs is well known throughout the community for her fabulous designs and her kind heart. Flergs is an incredibly talented designer with a great sense of color and style! She can ROCK a Halloween kit even though Ausies don’t usually celebrate it. Let’s take a closer look at “Happy Haunting” that is included in The Digi Files this month:

I’m a mum of 2 kids. I manage to design while they are at school or in bed each night. The rest of my time is spent driving them to all of their after school activities, or working in the real world. I’m a mad TV fan, but I usually watch my shows on one screen while I design on the other. This works OK but I spend more time listening than watching lol. I’ve always loved to be artsy & craftsy, and this feels like what I was meant to do. I’m so happy I found digi, and designing is far more fun than scrapping ever was!
I’m proud of this page for 2 reasons. It is documenting a very special time, when my son learned to ride without training wheels. That was a BIG milestone in our family. And also it was the first layout I had published in a magazine, Aussie Scrapbooking Memories magazine. I barely ever scrap, and when I do I usually don’t post to galleries. Just upload to facebook or my instagram gallery etc…

I found digi in 2007 when my daughter had just turned 1, I was complaining in a weightloss forum about lack of time to scrap. A friend linked me to some designers & stores such as Shabby Princess & Peppermint Creative. I downloaded some freebies and I was hooked! I started selling actions in a store a few months later, then moved to Scrapbookgraphics in 2008 where my designing career really took off. I’ve always had Photoshop, but never really did much with it. Everything is self taught and I learn more & more each kit I make. I love the look of digi pages more than paper pages, we can just do so much more.
Lots of things I see, clothing & fabric is a big starter. Magazines & catalogues. Anything that might have a combination of interesting colours. Pinterest is a great source of inspiration.
Computer: I have 2 monitors, one is my working monitor about 26″ and a smaller 17″ one I use to either watch TV online while I work, or honestly waste time browsing facebook 😉 I use Windows 7 64bit. I have about 4x 1TB hard drives & 2 externals. 12Gig ram which REALLY gets a workout! I run a lot of actions & filters and I find my PC never misses a beat! It’s super fast.
Program: I use Adobe Creative Suite 5 Master Collection. Eye Candy. Filter Forge. Art Rage.
Camera: An old Canon 4D. I’m more of an iPhone photographer.
Anything Else: Can’t live without my Logitech G15 keyboard & G9 laser mouse. Oh and I LOVE that my PC has a BluRay drive so I can play my favourite movies while I work.
My pet peeve is losing work due to a crash etc… so now I open a new doc & save it right away. Then I open it and work, hitting CTRL+S every time I create anything new. This way I am constantly saving as I work and if there is a crash, I can open it again at the last piece I created.
This would be my current favourite choice. Just for the colours & metallic elements. Whenever I need to scrap a page or ad for myself, this would be my go to kit. It’s very ‘me’.
This is definitely one of my best selling kits/collections. And I really had a great time creating it too, I found it very hard to stop. A lot of people love Halloween kits, even for non Halloween pages. I was extra proud of the little potion bottles too, they turned out better than I could have imagined. I love that it is more of a gothic style kit than typical Halloween. This was why I chose to create another Halloween kit for TDD readers, Happy Haunting is similar in style & colours to match perfectly with Spookilicious.
