Valorie Wibbens: Loving It

Valorie Wibbens’ style can best be described as eclectic, vintage, and sometimes retro. I love her designs and how incredibly unique they are! She definitely has her own signature look that I can now spot without seeing her name. I am thrilled to welcome her back to The Digi Files again! Let’s take a closer look at “Lost and Found” that is included in The Digi Files this month:

Hi! I’m Valorie and I live in beautiful and sunny Colorado! I’m a work at home mom to 3 kiddos and wife of, eeeek, 17 years! I love all things artsy, crafty, digi, and handmade. I love the ocean, the snow, knitting and crocheting, traveling and photography!

This is my first year of doing Project Life and am LOVING it! Here are a few pages from my book. I LOVE photography and using large story-telling photo’s in my pages…. They just make my heart sing….

I think I’ve always loved scrapbooking. I loved saving memories and the pictures that went with them! I even remember scrapping, horribly I might add, in high school! After having kids I scrapped more and more with paper products and stickers (haha). For Christmas in 2007, after getting a brand new MAC and Photoshop, I dived into learning to digiscrap! I had seen a digital scrapbooking magazine and was in complete awe with it. I HAD to LEARN how to do that! I took my first lesson, fell completely in love, and never looked back!

A few months later, I was crazy lucky to start CT-ing for a few fabulous designers and my favorite store at the time… I just couldn’t get enough of digital scrapbooking and started making my own papers and elements for fun. In 2009 i opened my first shop!

A bit of everything! Color, a song, a saying, my kids, the time of day…hahaha

Computer: I have an iMAC with 8GB of RAM and 2TB HD, which I positively ADORE!
Program: I use CS5, mostly using Photoshop and Illustrator.
Camera: Nikon 7000
Anything Else: Bamboo Tablet

I notice when scrapping, I use COMMAND+J (Control+J of a PC) a lot! I use it for cutting out pieces of paper or bits from elements without disturbing the actual paper or elements. For instance, if I want to add a little snip for paper under my photo, I’ll drag the paper under my photo and then with whatever cutting tool i want, usually the marquee tool, I drag my shape over the area I’m trying to copy and press COMMAND+J. This will copy the shaped area I had highlighted in a layer above. I then turn off the original paper layer underneath.

I love the mix of paper-ly bits with fabric and cardboard and doodles. I love the colors especially and little colorful calico-like papers and the WHALE. I grew up in Hawaii and have a strong love of Humpback whales.

I think everyone, including myself, just loves page protectors! I know I can’t get enough of them! To have them digitally just brings the physical feel of scrapbooking even more to our digital pages!
