Faith True Originals: Kinda Country

This is Faith’s very first time to join us in The Digi Files and we are excited to have her. I think one of the big things that sets Faith’s designs apart are her doodles. Her kits are filled with her very own doodles and provide us with lots and lots of unique items to play with on our digital layouts.  Let’s take a closer look at “His Banner Over Me” that is included in The Digi Files this month:

Here are some layouts created using Faith True Originals’s contribution:

I am kinda country in the way that I live and I live in Southeast Georgia along the coastline in a touristy town. My family is my greatest source of joy and pride in my life from my husband of 8 years, my 7-year-old holy terror of a boy (Arthur), my 11 month old princess (Esther Rose), and my 9 year old, faithful pooch, Cracker. I live simply on a modest budget but try to provide anything my family needs. I live day to day never knowing what to expect and when life throws me curve-balls, I try to take it with grace.

A few other random bits of information: I am one of 8 children. I have sisters named Hope and Charity. I play the flute, piccolo, viola and a slight bit of piano. I never lived in one place very long as a child and I attended 4 different high schools.

This layout was created because of my obvious love for my children. When I brought home my daughter from the hospital in March, 2011, my son was 6 years old. The very day we came home, he picked her up from her crib and I turned around and heard “Mama, look what I’ve got.” Fear struck my very core as I looked. He had picked up his 5 pound baby sister and I immediately rushed to assist him. He wanted to be able to love her and hold her and he had an immediate bond. When these pictures were scrapped, he already had a place in his heart and I was glad to see that bond forming between the two.

I was a paper scrapper starting out in March, 2005. In October 2005, I discovered digital scrapbooking and didn’t have any money to spend so after failed attempts at trying to get on a creative team, I started creating my own products. They were horrible and I kept on. Horrible became bad, bad became sub par and sub par became kinda cute and now I think I have products I can be proud of as I have found my niche. It has been 6 years of designing and I still love it.

My family, they are my inspiration to make layouts so it was only reasonable that they inspired my designs as well.

Computer: I use an PC with Windows Vista (I know I need to upgrade, haha) and I have about 5GB of memory and unfortunately only 300GB of HD space. I really could use more. I back my info up on a 500GB external so I won’t make the mistake of losing everything like I did once before. I also have a 19inch LCD monitor and I don’t think I could stand to have a bigger one.
Program: Photoshop CS3 extended. I love Illustrator too.
Camera: I own a Canon Rebel XT. I purchased it my first year of designing. I still love it.
Anything Else: I use a tablet for everything, included as a mouse. I have a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet. It was actually a very generous gift from a digi scrapper when mine broke. Probably one of the nicest things someone could have ever done for me.

I always make sure to layer my items appropriately as if the images were real. I consider wordart to be more of a “rub-on” so I always put these wordart behind main images. I then consider my photo placements, any paint, glitter, or 2-d elements I want to add and stitches. I start layering items from depth so that I have a realistic feel to my layouts and the more 3-d the element, the softer and larger the shadow.

Seaside Shanty is my favorite kit because it is both elegant and playful. I had such a great and easy time putting it together and of course the wordart just tops it off. My environment shaped this kit. Since we love on the coastline,we do visit the beach and enjoy everything that comes along with it. Sand, sea, waves and even ocean life. We have swimmed so close to dolphins and we love it.

When I look at this kit, I remember when I put it together. It just flew together in a couple of days. I was so inspired and it came to life before my eyes. The colors were appealing, the creative whimsical elements and it had a “Fancy Nancy” feel. I really think that is why everyone else likes this kit too. The easier the kits come together, the more popular they are.
