Have been a fan if Yin’s templates for a very long time. Some of my very favorite layouts have been created with Yin’s templates! I love the jumbled, layered look of the photos that is her style. Yin’s templates are super affordable and I love looking at all of her travels in her layouts samples! I’m happy to welcome Yin back to The Digi Files again! Let’s take a closer look at “Templates 278-283” that is included in The Digi Files this month:

I’m wife, mom, and addicted to creating art and life story telling through digi scrapping! I am born and bred and live in my lovely island country of Singapore with my husband of almost 18 years (and best friend of nearly 30!), and our boys aged 14 and 12. Together they make all the stories that I want to tell in my scrapbooks. I also work part time in accounting; digi scrapping is my much needed creative outlet!
This 365 page is not typical of my style but is one of my favourites!
Flower doodle by Emerritt designs, yellow paint strokes by Rachel Young, plastic paint dots by Sugar Plum Paperie, blue paint stroke by Carrie Bombria, alpha by Weeds & Wildflowers, Days words by Mel Wilson, Girls word art by Miss Mint, doodles by Scrapkitty designs, Britt designs, Megan Turnidge, Lyndsay Riches, blue circle stamp by Jackie Ecles, family element by Jay Day Studio.
Literally, we were at our local library when dh passed me a copy of Creating Keepsakes magazine, and I was hooked. After paper scrapping for a few months, I discovered digi scrapping and never looked back! At one point I tried designing kits but I was far more interested in making my own layouts and memories. Then I decided to just make templates out of my layouts to support my own digi scrapping hobby, selling from my little blog store, and unbelievably, I am now at Template 283! I think real life and photos keep happening, and that’s how layouts and inspiration keep happening!
My family, our life stories, and all the lovely digi supplies out there!
I am on a SONY VAIO NS-25G (which is sadly on its last legs), running on 4GB RAM, I use Photoshop CS 4 and use my trusty Canon IXUS 80IS and now my iphone camera for capturing moments. Most of our travel photos are captured by my Dh using his Canon S90.
I am often asked – how do I come up with the arrangements of the multi-photo templates? I almost never sketch a layout beforehand. When I open up a blank canvas, the first thing I do is to put into it the photos I would like to include in that layout. Next I re-size each photo, depending on which I want to highlight, different sizes create lots of visual interest! Then I look at them to see if there is a mood/feeling in the photos that I want to portray. For example, is a formal sort of layout required? Then I like to line them up. A quiet introspective type of layout usually work with lots of white space. Was it a silly moment being captured, then the photos can be ‘thrown’ askew on the page for that fun element. Or were they grand landscape photos that beg to be cascaded across the page? Then I get to work moving each photo around according to that overall idea – and it always works!
My favourite product is usually my latest, and I do love this set of simple wide-framed photo templates which I made for the photos I took on my iphone – cropping the photos make them intimate and tell a fabulous story!
